  1. Dart, There is no way at all that any D-B "scout" told you any such thing and Mo West and Little Man Stewart beat D-B in regulation, no overtime. He had a 76 yard TD run, off the right side, with like 1:34 left in the game. Good Luck to Mo West. Great season Oak Ridge. Roll Tribe Roll
  2. O.R. took advantage of turnovers, with points, we didn't. Period. If O.R. can win the state, then it's like 1969 all over again, when Mo. East won the first state playoff - with their lone defeat coming at the hands of the Dobyns-Bennett Indians. It's high school football with young men giving their all, coaches teaching life lessons. It is all good stuff. #77, it was an honor to call out your name and number as a captain of your team. Good luck. I do think there are only a few places where the opposing teams players' accomplishments would be verbalized over the P.A....D-B is obviously one of those places...I'd like to think that O.R. is one, too...but, I'm not sure who else I'd put in that group. There is a "history" with anyone we come in contact with in life. There was a time in this rivalry "history" where the 'Cats didn't respect the Indians much, they had won consistantly and in football had some attitude. Those days are long gone and should packed away. It's a good rivalry and it will continue. It's up to us, involved as fans, parents, or whatever role we play, to maintain the respect for one another...it has been earned, period. Good luck Wildcats. Great season Indians..I am very proud of all of you. Roll Tribe Roll
  3. I don't know for sure. I understand that Coach will talk with him, as he will with all the guys who are coming to basketball now and discuss when they will begin practicing and their potential role on the team (varsity & jv). I know Walker Throp practiced today with the team. I know Phillip "hands" Tritapoe has some sore wheels. I know there are two seniors, I think two juniors and I think four sophmores getting ready to join the basketball program (Throp & Tritapoe are the seniors). I also know that in order to transfer within the state of Tennessee there has to be a documentable residence established within the school district the student is attempting to attend; in other words, if he wants to transfer, he has to move. I'd also bet you that if he didn't move and attempted to bend the rules, someone(s) would report him very quickly. There were no passes dropped against O.R. and some real nice catches made. 4. Carter Lovelace had a great game and a great season. I am so very proud of him. He really came on this year and along with Cedric Hodge and Jeremiah Lofton gave the Indians a real force in the defensive interior. Any interest in playing on the next level? Carter is another of the great senior stories on this D-B team. Roll Tribe Roll
  5. If I had told any D-B fan at the start of the season that this team would finish 11-2, I'd have been called crazy. But they had a great season. I am very proud of all the Tribe. Tonight we saw Duran Ferguson throw for a D-B record for most yards throwing in a game. We saw Walker Throp have a huge game receiving with an outstanding TD catch and 6 catches and 90+ yards receiving. We saw Dusty Fletcher have a great game receiving, big yards. Phillip "hands" Tritapoe had another huge game with big yards after the catch. Darrell "purple" Hayes another exciting night with receptions and returns. Dustin Gaines got involved in a big way receiving and returning. And of course, Chase Flanary was a bull to bring down and has some big screen play catches, as well. This season has been a tremendous display of heart by the players and tonight was no different. 11-2, I'm proud. Thank you to the coaches, you all did a great job teaching these athletes and not just about the Xs & Os of football. Congratulations to the Oak Ridge Wildcats. Good luck. Bring home a state championship to East Tennessee. Roll Tribe Roll
  6. What a great night for high school football. Congratulations to the Oak Ridge Wildcats. Good luck next week and the next - bring home a state championship to East Tennessee. I am so proud of the Dobyns-Bennett Indians. This group of seniors have been great leaders and again tonight they provided the leadership for a great effort. Roll Tribe Roll
  7. I think the largest crowd may have occured when D-B played Tn. High when the Vikings won the mythical national championship, or the year following. Randy Pearson was the D-B tailback, James Hensley was the fullback. Was that '72 or '73?...I'll try to check and find out exactly. Roll Tribe Roll
  8. Friday November 14th, 2003 DOBYNS-BENNETT 31 McMinn County 6 Neither greater than (>) nor equal to (=), not on this night. Roll Tribe Roll
  9. GC, Go to the activities office, at the Dome... Again, good luck Art, Don't you mean early, early Wednesday? Can't get unclaimed reserved seating until Wednesday morning. Roll Tribe roll
  10. Art, Yeah, this head injury stuff is a bit beyond the normal areas of concern. But he is fine and already focused on Friday night, as are all the guys I have seen. D-B, really, was more of an inexperienced team, as opposed to a young team, at the start of the year. The offense had six guys who had ever started even one varsity game and the defense five, but they have come together amazingly, to be a real team. The seniors have provided great examples of effort, heart, and technique, and true solid leadership. I am very proud of this team. Not bad for a down year. Roll Tribe Roll
  11. GC_Quincy, Most of the D-B home side is reserved seating...the extreme ends from top to bottom are a little more than half reserved, otherwise general admission. As Spear24 said, the folks who had reserved seats during the regular season have first shot at their seats for the playoffs, they have until closing time for the D-B activities office (4:00pm) on Tuesday. Then the seats are open to the public. General admission tickets are on sale at the gate as well as any unpurchased reserved seat. All tickets for the playoffs are $7.00 (TSSAA sets the playoff ticket prices). If you buy a ticket that gives a section, row, and seat, you have a reserved seat...if it doesn't have that info on it, it's a general admission ticket, so if you start to sit down and notice a number where you are about to sit, don't, it's reserved. The D-B activities office is open from 7:30am - 4:00pm and will be selling general admission tickets all week and then the unclaimed reserved seats starting Wednesday morning. Good luck to you guys on Saturday. Roll Tribe Roll

  13. Art, Do you want overall class breakdown, as in all the players dressed or are you wanting a starters breakdown? By the way, I gave you a reply regarding #20 (on the McMinn, D-B thread)...thanks again for asking. Roll Tribe Roll
  14. I can't wait to enjoy some Big Ed's Pizza delivered to J.Fred Johnson Stadium. Roll Tribe Roll
  15. Hey Art, Sorry to take so long to get back to you...but, How 'bout them Indians? #20 actually hit his head (again) on the interception, came down and hit the back of his head on the ground...got up, started off & got real dizzy and had some major pain shoot through his head. After the concussion, that sort of thing scares me...but the doctors on the sideline felt like it was just that particular blow to head and not some residual effect...so, he felt better, he went back in and had a few more stops. Thank you very much for asking. What a game, huh? Roll Tribe Roll
  16. McMinn County fans talked all week about having as much talent and class as D-B and Oak Ridge,,,Well I will give you the talent part, but, the class part is lacking...the cheap shot on the punt return - hitting Steven Moten long before the ball was to him, was the most obvious classless move...however, my son, who had a pick in the game, a few tackles (a couple for losses and about fifty or so yards of total offense) said it was the mouthiest team he has ever played against. And the example to put it all in place...the head coach...walked briskly off the field not shaking hands with the Indian assistant coaches or players...my son (and others) remembered that he refused to shake their hands last year after we beat the Patriots (both times) when he was an assistant. Have class when you win and when you lose coach, or get out of the game. Good talent - no doubt! Long, Long way to go in the class department, that disappoints me. Good crowd, I hope everyone got home safely. Roll Tribe Roll
  17. Anothervolfan211, Thank you for the nice words. Last night was a good high school playoff game. You Trojans played a good game and showed solid character, never quit. I hope you have a good remainder of your senior year. I also hope UT's big win over Miami today helps you to feel a bit better. Go D-B Roll Tribe Roll
  18. In talking about respect...to the subject starter - Dobyns-Bennett is spelled with tt. This should be another outstanding high school football playoff game, but y'all ain't playing Science Hill, again. So, let's talk some Xs and Os. What is your primary defensive front? Do you run the wing T? How many passes thrown a game do you average? Weight size on D and O front lines? Who did the best job against you this year and why were they successful? Go D-B Roll Tribe Roll
  19. How 'Bout Them Indians!!!??!!! Very well prepared, played hard, lots of people contributed. Art, McMillan is Matt McMillan #12, Jacob McMillan's little brother...he is a junior. One person you didn't mention who had a great game was Dusty Fletcher #26, no catches but, some huge blocks to spring all 3 RBs...Dusty had a tremendous block on Chase's TD. Great game Indians. Roll Tribe Roll
  20. WaCoJaCo, You are exactly right, it's still tough to watch him on the ground for any reason, especially after last year's season ending knee injury and now the concussion...but he's up and going strong. Man, we just wore them out. Good night for the Indians, huh? Now we have to get ready for Soddy-Daisy... Roll Tribe Roll
  21. HOW 'BOUT THEM INDIANS!!!??!!! Just another example of people needing to keep their mouths shut, you sillygoose Roll Tribe Roll
  22. HOW 'BOUT THEM INDIANS!!!??!!! That was about as complete as anyone could have imagined. Obviously, the D-B coaching staff had the Tribe prepared. Lincoln County isn't a factor and doesn't even need to be thought about...We play Soddy-Daisy next week and they only have 3 loses on the season and I understand they are real big and pound the ball...obviously more and complete info will be required, but Soddy-Daisy is the only team that Indian fans need to mention and the one team the Indian team needs to prepare for. But we will enjoy tonight's game!!!!! Happy Halloween...I appreciate the TREAT Indians. Roll Tribe Roll
