Darren is a good guy.... I know he plays the kids that put out in the weight room and practice...He doesn't care what your last name is...And for whoever thinks their baby boy will play QB...Forget it...That job will go to Chase Bowling...And deservidly so Chase is an athletic kid.Nobody will know that offense better than Chase and the best thing is he will only be a sophmore next season....

That 68% had to be on 2-point shots because they shot less that 25% from 3 point range.... MJ Brown led UC with 28 points Tony Wilkins-13 points Lavan Mosely-12 points BJ Marshall-10 points One thing I am noticing about this year's UC team is they are not as good right now with their three point shooting BUT they are crashing the boards much harder...Tonite at one time they were 4 for 32 from threes but they had 24 offensive rebounds...That makes your FG % go up from two's because you are mostly converting those rebounds into layups... Whenever those threes start falling,and they will,watch out...

O.K......Everyone knows I'm all about the Tornadoes...But when I see something wrong I'll make note of it either way... Your statement about Humboldt "drawing up" come tournament time is wrong..AT LEAST IN THE DISTRICT,REGION & SUB-STATE..... Union City has beaten Humboldt,since the 2001-2002 season,7 out of 8 times in the regular season...BUT...Humboldt is 3-0 against Union City in district and regional tournament action....Now when it comes to state tournament action,that is where Humboldt "draws up" to some extent..But when you make the state tourney THREE times in a row there is not much drawing up.... By the way,the only choke job,and I will it admit it,for UC was the last year UC was in 2A...They were #1 ranked in the state and had a match-up with Ripley who they had destroyed to open the season in the first round of the regional tourney and lost 71-69...That was a choke job....Last years game against Humboldt wasn't a choke job..Humboldt had an excellent squad and they just put it all together that night...It just happened to be the last real good game they played last season....They could have very easily been state champs last season....

culleokarep.....Union City's court isn't regulation size either....Matter of fact in our district the only gym that does have a regulation size court is Lake County....It does make a different though when UC plays at Murfreesboro,Lipscomb University or Poplar Bluff and Lake County where the floor is regulation size.... For the record,I'm not saying Middleton will win...I'm saying Cully will have their hands full....It would not surprise me to see Cully beat Middleton but on the other hand it wouldn't shock me to see Middleton win either....I think it will be around a five point game either way it goes....

You need to get out more and see some good basketball.... Cully is a good team for the area they are in.....But if you were to watch Union City,Humboldt,Lake County,Trenton Peabody,Middleton,Manassas in 1A and teams like Bolivar,Dyer County,Haywood Co,Fayette-Ware,Liberty and then the teams from Memphis you would really know that some teams that have 5-4 records or whatever are really much stronger than some teams in your area that is 9-2,10-1...I know people don't like hearing that but I'll stand behind that statement... For example,all I heard last season was how good White House was....They were supposed to be a very strong AA Middle Tn team...They have a big kid(Gaines) that was supposed to be all that....I saw them play Union City in The Battle for the State tournament at Lipscomb University last year....I saw UC put over 100 on them and ended up beating them around 25 points...They ran that big kid up and down the court...Started meeting him coming and going...Couple of years ago Wayne County was supposed to be good...UC met up with them in the semis of the state tourney and after playing a fairly close first half ended up beating them around 25 points....The style of play is much different and the players are more athletic..You guys might like that slow,half-court style but West Tn fans think it is very boring basketball....

Middleton is not your regular run of the mill 1A ball club...They are a program with 3 state championships,last being in 2005.....Larry Smalley is a 23 year veteran at Middleton,he has pretty much seen it all... I'm not real sure you are familiar with the area of basketball you are talking about...You called Bolivar,Fayette-Ware and McNairy Central weak 2A teams..Those are not weak teams...Middleton is actually 8-3...Adamsville is not a pushover either..... Middleton is not the biggest team Cully will face but they have two experienced guards in Jammie Cheairs and Tabias Murden who have been through enough battles to be able to handle anything Cully can throw at them.... Randy Cheairs and Derrick Hudson are in the post...Both are undersized but Cheairs makes up for it with outstanding leaping ability and Hudson is a good shot blocker....J Cheairs averaged 17 points a game last season and Murden averaged 11 points a game.... Cully will have the homecourt advantage and of course DeMario Williams,Antwane Beach and Shawn Beach will give the Warriors a distinct height advantage.... Smalley's team are usually strong defensively and are fundamentally sound...They will probably pressure Cully fullcourt because Cully isn't all that great in that area of their game... I saw Cully last season lose a game in the state tournament to CSAS who they should have beaten...They didn't handle a modest at best press by CSAS and they didn't shoot well....They also didn't use their height advantage to their advantage..... Middleton is full of athletes and very well coached....They will give Cully al they want and more....

Cully will have their hands full with Middleton....

This will be a very important hire for Fulmer and the Vols..... Who will be the man for the job??...Any names being thrown around now??... Too bad Tony Franklin is already at Auburn....

I don't believe I said Dyer County or Dyersburg's future wasn't bright....I was saying that if it is as bright as folks are saying,Union City's is pretty bright too considering the Tornadoes were going against squads with school enrollments of over 1,000 kids and UC having around 375..... I agree Northview is becoming an athlete factory.....

bigster...No need to mention Greenfield with UC,LC,H'Boldt and TP..They only have one good player and he can't keep his team up with those guys by himself....

What happened with Middle College??...You used to hear about them they had a pretty good team three or four years ago.....Don't ever hear anything about them anymore....

Does Treadwell still play in the gym they did back when Anfernee Hardaway was there??....I was there for a sub-state game between UC and Treadwell back in the early 90's....He was awesome that night but that was also the coming out party for Stanley Caldwell at UC...The freshman had 22 points and 21 rebounds that night....He went on to win two Mr Basketball awards...Two state tournament MVP's and two state tournaments... Hardaway started the game with an alleyoop dunk off the tip-off....Ended the first half with a halfcourt jumpshot at the buzzer and had 45 points total....

LOL....I don't know if you have seen them but they are weak.... Those guys won't be around long when Whitby gets ahold of them...

M&M...If I know something for sure I will post it....No,not the coach but I do know....I know about the DC situation because I was told by the one man that would know for sure....The Liberty thing is not news to anybody....They had a team they wanted to showcase across the country last year and they did....Don't blame them at all for that...I know Shane and Dexter have a good working relationship and will at least play during the summer and when the opportunity arises will play again in the future during the regular season.....The way the T.$.$.A.A has limited basketball schedules(you do know about that right??)it's very hard for teams in UC's district to schedule beyond the 18 games they HAVE to play within the district.... I know you just want to yank chains like you do over on the football boards but you will at least have to know what you are talking about over here on the basketball boards or you are going to look awful silly...Their are quite a few folks on these boards that do know what they are talking about and don't make things up.... And just another point to make,UC won't back down from anybody...Why don't you go back and look at some of the past schedules UC has played(If you know how)...UC can't help that this district doesn't have but three other good teams in it that will even give each other decent games...UC doesn't back down from stiff competition....UC has played Haywood Co,Bolivar,Mitchell,St Louis Vashon,Poplar Bluff with the younger Hansbrough who is at Miss State,Forest City,Ark,Mem East,Brentwood Acd..All in the last three or four seasons...Who has Gleason played...Ever??

I know you weren't talking about the freshmen,but they are apart of the LC future??...Right??

As good as you say DC will be in the future consider this,Union City beat both the DC freshmen and JV squad this year...That is what Bowling has to look forward to at Union City.... Oh...And just got beat by the Dyersburg JV squad 13-8 with UC inside the D-Burg 10 twice in the last minute and a half of the game....UC probably had 25 on the sideline and D-Burg had close to 40

Yeah,I know about the Jackson thing.....That would make sense for him for personal reasons....It would probably be as an assistant somewhere though... I hope he lands on his feet wherever he goes....I think the world of Jimmy...He is a good guy....

Most Misinformed post of the year....Same as your McKenzie rants... UC could get Liberty in Poplar Bluff Missouri tournament...BTW UC is 2-1 overall against Liberty...They always play in the summer and played until last year when Liberty had to drop us because of all the out-of-state tournaments they played in....
