    Blackman

Well, the search at Blackman now includes a new principal. Dr. Nixon is accepting another position.
  2. I was just wanted some updates on Rhea Co. football for the upcoming season. How do they look in the preseason? What are some scrimmage results? Etc.

    Has anyone been hired yet?
  4. you are correct, I didn't even think about that....thanks for clearing that up
  5. The brackets are actually turned out to be really even. I think the brackets turned out good. I see either a Whit Station/Bradley rematch, or the 4th Rhea Co./Bradley matchup of the season. And, since most people on here like to just join the crowd and make the "easy" pick I'm going to go with Rhea Co./Bradley in the Championship game. Won't be the popular pick, and may not end up being the correct pick. But, its just too easy to say "yeah, its goign to be White Station and Bradley....again." Rhea Co. is hot right now and they are playing by far the best ball they have all season. They are playing under control, which is very important for their team and they just have so many scoring threats and can beat you in so many ways. Great versatility. The players are finally putting team first and its showing in the way they play.
  6. 1985 the last time Rhea County Boys Basketball was in the final 8 at the 'Boro!
  7. Cleveland is the better "team" ? Yeah you are probably right they have Charles Little, Jay Davis....and, ummm, uh, yeah those other guys. They get by with having two very good players. Come tournament time teams that only have two good players go home. Rhea Co.'s #3-#6 guys are much better than Cleveland's #3-#6 players. And, the series this season is 2-1, with an overtime game and a 1 point game, so letz just say they even the series up at 2-2.
  8. Rhea doesnt have a chance against Brainard? Yeah, right! Hope that pretty record of Brainards gives them some comfort once their season is over. Rhea County has won just as many games as Brainard, but they have played more games and a harder schedule. And, by the way the reference to throwing the game and "getting" to play Brainard is not made to say that Brainard is not any good. It's reference is the fact that Brainard is not in the same league as Bradley (which they arent) and out of the two nobody in their right mind would rather play Bradley. It should be a good game, but Rhea has to many offensive weapons. Rhea County by 8.
  9. That sounds like a very accurate assessment of Rhea County's team. If Hyatte gets that ball within 12 ft. of the basket its almost automatic. Cooper can shoot Rhea county right out of the game if doesnt get Hyatte the ball. Hyatte should at least touch the ball once every possesion.
  10. I agree that Chattanooga Christian is ahead of some teams that it shouldnt be. Also, Cleveland is given too much credit. They should be lower than they are. The return of Jay Davis helps alot. But , even with him they are not a top 10 team in the area.
  11. These are two of the best teams in the whole Chattanooga area, not just the district. And, concerning Cumberland Co. I have seen them play and they are not in the class as Bradley and Rhea. The fact that the game is at Rhea Co. meas I will go with Rhea by 3 in an overtime game.
  12. I was looking for some information about Harriman High School's Girls basketball team. What kind of team do they have? Who are their players? What are their strenghts? Anyone who has seen them play.....
  13. I was at the Cleveland/Walker Valley game. Walker Valley outplayed Cleveland in every aspect of the game. They showed that if you played good defense on Cleveland they have no half court offense. Limit their transition and you kill Cleveland's offensive output. If not for a key turnover and a possible over the back when Little, being the great player he is, missed three point blank layups and just kept going back up and grabing it and trying again. An over the back call right there and the game turns out to be a victory for a very good Walker Valley team.
  14. Jujuan Smith best "all around"? I've only seen him play twice, but in the two times I saw him play I don't believe I saw him play one minute of "hard defense". He uses defense to rest his shooting arm for offense. And, in the two games I also don't believe I saw him dish out one single assist. Can the get shoot? Yes, he shoots the lights out. His elevation and ability to get his three-pointer off against anybody is very impressive. Is he a super athlete? Definately, no question. But, 'all around' includes much more than these two aspects of the game.
  15. godsent5....amen, I second everything he said who the heck cares who wins a middle school game? unfortunately alot of middle school coaches (thoese games are just battles) the war comes when they get to high school, and all they know how to play is a soft lazy 2-3 zone because thats how you 'win' middle school games...they get to high school and say, "what is man-to-man defense?" they are told to just shoot the ball if they are in doubt, no matter if its a good shot or not, because otherwise they might turn it over and at least a some crazy bad shot attempt has a chance of going in...does that make any sense? no... not all middle school coaches do this, obviously, but it is a large percentage
  16. His point is valid...yeah California has more big recruits because California has a much bigger pool to choose from Tennessee might be falling behind some other states in terms of the athletic ability of girls basketball players (something that can't be helped) but the quality of the players and programs is top notch
  17. I do not know much about the new girls coach at Bradley Central. He came there after I graduated from high school. But, I am back in the area and I just wanted to comment on the post somebody made about him being able to coach girls with all ability levels and make them better. My question is this, have you seen the junior high teams from Bradley Co. play? I have seen them a couple of times. Wow! These girls that play at Bardley Central learn how to play the game long before they get to the high school level. He is a lucky benfactor of an awesome feeder system. He is not over there struggling to squeeze every ounce out of an untalented group of players. He might be a great coach. I don't know. I just wanted to comment on that post made earlier.
  18. Well, keyplayer, actually the new WV coach ALSO beat Bradley @ Bradley in the Region Championship game in 1999. Thats a relatively big game to just ingnore. A big region championship game on the road @ BCHS where the region was being hosted. I know very little about the players or talent level at WV, but I can tell you as a team they will be a better team with their new coach.
