  2. I thought Maplewood did have a couple of really good years under Van Hoose(?) I think around 93/94. But then they kinda disappeared until recently.
  3. I knew the conversation of pushing high school baseball/softball would not sit well well summer/travel team coaches. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  4. I have said for years that baseball/softball start too soon in Tn. I know there is a concern for keeping the sports calendars in line with the school calendars but I think there are alot of problems with that thought process. In Indiana baseball and softball state championships are held in the middle of June and I believe that Illinois does the same.
  5. It seems that the Fairview Middle coach got the Fairview High School position. (which was not really a suprise to anyone) /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  6. Glazier clinic starts on Fri. afternoon and runs through Sun. afternoon at the Franklin/Cool Springs Marriot I believe.
  7. I was thinking the same exact same thing. I believe that you have hit the proverbial nail on the head with this one. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  8. New schools have always gone through growing pains. It is especially tough to begin a program today because everyone wants instant success.
  9. Maybe I just missed it but who is the new coach at MTCS?
  10. Thanks for the link. I had always heard stories about the MBA/Ensworth/Frist spat but it was interesting to get the real story finally. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  11. Nice post. I am by no means an expert but I still think that Rankin left because he saw the hand writting on the wall and felt the talent was on a down cycle.
  12. Well that never happens in Tn! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  13. I do not want to sound like a jerk but Ga. Tech does not run the wing-t. They are are spread option (FlexBone) team. Certainly there are some aspects of the wing-t involved (as there are in every offense) but it is a triple option offense and not the wing-t. It is just a little pet peeve of mine. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. Fortunes can change quickly at the AA/AAA level but I would have to go with Camden as being the favorite right now. Cheatham is always competitive and I could see them challenging. You have got to admire the job that the guy at Stewart Co. has done. I think it should be a very competitive district.
  15. In Class A, Districts 7 and 8 will unite and form a nine-team Region 4-A football schedule because there are so few teams in that area playing football. The region includes Clay County, Monterey, Pickett County, Jackson County, Gordonsville, Red Boiling Springs, Friendship, Trousdale County and Watertown. My bad, I re-read the article and saw it the seond time through.
  16. I am going to have to look at a map and see how they came up with this. How did Monterrey get into District 12?
  17. I don't buy the "independent school league could pay refs more and would be open to recruit anyone they want" argument. If the Div. II large schools wanted to that they might pull that off, but the majority of smaller privates do not have that type money. I do not want to get this kicked to the public/private thread. I think part of the problem at BA might have been too many great athletes that were there just to improve their recruiting stock. Don't crucify me offering that opinion I am just saying that you have to think it is possible. Keep in mind 6-4 or or not all those kids are still getting recruited and will be recruited regardless of the outcome of BA's season.
  18. I did not realize that the starting QB for Ensworth High School (private school in Nashville currently 10-0) ,Tavarres Jefferson, was an Oak Ridge kid.
  19. Unfortunately that is a problem that alot of smaller schools have. Many administrators just do not care about hiring competent teachers/coaches. It takes alot of time and effort.
  20. I think it will be intresting to see how 3A (5A--6A) works out in middle Tn. Any ideas how they will divide up these groupings? Clarksville schools West Creek-5 Northeast-5 Kenwood-5 Northwest-5 Clarksville-5 Rossview-6 Where will Henry Co. and Dickson Co. go? Murfreesboro schools Oakland-6 Blackman-6 Smyrna-6 Lavergne-6 Siegel-6 Lavergne-6 Riverdale-6 Metro-Nashville Schools Hillwood-5 Hillsboro-5 Cane Ridge-5 Glencliff-5 Overton-6 Hunters Lane-6 Antioch-6 Mcgavock-6 Will any of these teams be moved in to the WillCo. Schools? Williamson Co Schools Centennial-5 Brentwood-6 Indy-6 Ravenwood-6 Franklin-6 North Middle Tn. (unless you have a better term) Portland-5 Springfield-5 Station Camp-5 Beech-5 Hendersonville-5 Gallatin-5 Lebanon-6 Wilson Cent-6 Mt. Juliet-6 South Middle (S.W. Middle?) Tullahoma-5 Lawrence Co.-5 Shelbyville-5 Columbia-5 Franklin Co.-6 Lincoln Co.-6 Coffe Co.-6
  21. The deadline to declare DII is on Fri. I think. I could see possibly two or three more schools making the move to DII.
