  1. there's a NHSCA tournament on April 1st at Bolton High School in Arlington (just outside Memphis) that I and a few others are going to. They have middle school, high school, and adult divisions, and the top 4 places in each weight class advance to some sort of national tournament. regular high school weights for that division, college weights for the adult. should be a fun tournament. information for it is on the Bolton High website
  2. i had a friend ask me about where one of the regions was holding its tournament at this year and i wasn't sure, so i figured i might as well put the question out there for all the regions in case some others are in the dark too. thanks
  3. ok, i'm not impressed by this guy, he should just support his city and not start bashing others with worn-out stereotypes having said that, i agree that the gym at chs is extremely cramped on saturday morning with all 3 tourneys in action at once, but it's already been brought up that austin peay is not a legitimate option at this point because of money, and i think that spreading the duals out between 2 or more high schools complicates the matter way too much. i like the idea of rotating it around the state, but the main problem i see with that is that some years the duals would go to venues which have no experience in hosting a tournament that is already at 28 teams and still growing. alot of ppl are complaining now about the confined space, but imagine how much they'd be complaining if the tournament wasn't effectively managed and ran off schedule, or the order of matches was messed up by a staff without prior experience. personally, i think it's where it should be right now... in middle TN with equal access from all corners of the state and in a venue where you can't argue that is run efficiently and smoothly due to experience.
  4. ok, exactly how many teams are going to state duals this year in largeschool div1? i see that there's 10 regions now, but i also heard 2nd place teams in each region would get a shot at earning a wildcard entry or something like that. is that true?
  5. the factor of space i think is key there..... it already was full with 8 d2 and 8 d1 teams.... recently adding a third tourney with 4 more teams to the mix makes it pretty packed.

  7. just curious, what quality opponents (as in full lineup, competitive) have science hill and notre dame wrestled? bc i havent heard much about either teams so far other than individual
  8. congrats on the high school accolades there, but i'm not sure why you threw that info in the bc he wasn't attacking you on that, i'm pretty sure he just meant that he'd be cheering for frhs too. about the match, it was a great one, very close and intense despite the final score. both teams looked tough, and both seemed to have alot of good young talent. i rly liked that they had a middle school match also... great to see young kids getting involved in the sport early... all around a good showing for both schools.
  9. makes sense that it should stay put as long as it's still working well
  10. i might be wrong also, but i think he lost to casey brewster from overton that year... i wasnt there, but i think i remember being told about it
  11. i've heard alot of brief results and summaries of the sycamore duals yesterday, but if anybody has the time and will to give more details, it would be much appreciated. i rly would like to know more about the clarksville-christ. bro match and also the clarksville-collierville bc that sounded like a real barn burner, also if anybody has any thoughts on MBA, bc i was rly shocked to see such landslide victories on their part. they must have an outstanding dual team this year. also, any notable individual matches? thanks
  12. i saw them lose to clarksville and cookeville the other day.... a few of the weightclasses looked pretty decent tho, 160, 171 in particular
  13. it sounds like you are cal lee, but regardless congrats on the success, but does it really require a series of posts bragging about every single "pin in front of the bench".... there are many great wrestlers in the state that dont say a word, their actions and results speak for themselves. I'd advise just going with the flow and let the season, esp. region indiv, do the talking for you.
  14. does anybody know his current status? if i understand it correctly he had the operation several weeks ago, so is he doing ok?

  18. jeff jordan at clarksville built a state-contender program from literally nothing, plus he was co-national coach of the year in 2000.... pretty impressive resume
  19. that's not quitting at all, and calling it that is completely uncalled for. one, it's not the tourney's problem because it's mccallie that is forced to forfeit a possible win, which i'm sure made the decision a tough one...... two, that seems to reflect well on the coach because he obviously cares more about his wrestlers than winning medals because he forfeited so that they could attend an apparently important event, whatever it was..... that's part of what makes an excellent coach. goodjob this weekend.
  20. It's not quitting at all and calling that quitting is completely uncalled for.... one, it's not the tournament's problem if they leave early, it's mccallie's because they were forced to forfeit away a possible win which i'm sure made it a tough decision..... two, it seems to show that the coach cares more about his wrestlers than winning because he accepted the forfeit so that they could make what apparently was an important event, whatever it was. last time i checked, that's part of what makes a good coach. goodjob at the tourney
  21. hahaha thats a very good observation
  22. usfjim is right.... he's a freshman in the sense that it's still his first year, regardless of his grade in school. this is kind of a weird subject to argue about though.... highschool wrestling is about constantly restocking ur team.... bartlett and all the rest of the memphis schools will have good and bad years, so theres no point in bragging about one single victory... the tide turns from year to year, and sometimes even throughout each season
  23. haha thanks for that post, i was wondering if anybody else was noticing that. haha
  24. anyone remember the div1 HWY state finals in 2004 between crosby of greenville? and pennington of clarksville..... that was an amazing match. it went to 2ot with crosby winning off an escape, but it wasnt like most other ot hwy matches in that there was constant movement and action/reaction..... literally a complete stalemate for 7 minutes
