  1. Interesting, I thought AAU was an all volunteer organization. I did not know you could be fired from being a volunteer. I guess things can change when you get to the big time. Oh well.
  2. There is a girl at Oak Ridge, Amber Owens, whose father was a college football player and went on to play with the New England Patriots. I am not sure if he was an All-American while in college, but I do know that he was on a super bowl team while he was with the Pats. Hope this helps.
  3. have read it and replied. thanks
  4. Coachk18, thanks for the reply. It really doesn't matter a flip to me one way or the other. I was just making an observation as an unbiased 3rd party. Could care less who is the winner or loser. Just like to watch good HS girls basketball. Sorry if I offended you. I certainly hope that none was taken. I guess that there was some payback last night. I would imagine that Coach Prudden would say if you can beat us by 65 or whatever more power to you. My feeling on that is kind of like Bear Bryant's was and he said, the game is not a prize fight, they don't stop it. Anyway, that really is only my feeling and noone elses. I can certainly understand how you would be proud of your team and what they have accomplished. Hope that they have a great run and win it all. Once again, in my opinion, you have all the pieces. No reason to let up, no matter who you are playing. If you can beat someone by 50, go for it. As far as Coach Pruddent making a bee line out of there. I don't believe that was the case. But if that is the way you feel, then I'm sure some goof ball such as myself could never change your mind. You might wish to check with one of your players parents concerning this as we had a private conversation about this very subject. Once again, thanks for the reply and good luck in your championship run.
  5. baseline, What it says about Oak Ridge is that they are way overated as they have been all year. The rankings mean absolutely nothing. They are based upon the past reputation of a team and this years Oak Ridge is nothing compared to past teams. Also it says that the people that put together these polls know very little about teams from all over the country. They call up local sportswriters and coaches and get their opinions and you know what that is worth. A journalism major that prolly doesn't have a clue about the sport they are reporting about. Shelbyville and Oak Ridge get those high rankings each year because they have been there before. It has nothing to do with the current team and how good or bad it is. Sevier County is the class of AAA in East Tn and will be until someone proves they can stay with them. Powell may be the team. We will just have to wait until the Region Tournament to find out. It for sure is not Oak Ridge.
  6. Arnwine, How about those lady wildkittens? Powell is a shoo in for the district championship. They whipped OR every way possible. OR does not have any competitors as far as I could see. Powell is stronger in every phase of the game. Rebounding, scoring, defense, you name it. Except maybe coaching. Nothing meant in a bad way, but until the assistant coach came along, Powell's coach did not have a clue. I did see something tonight that told me alot about Powell's assistant coach. Refused to shake the OR coaches hands at the end of the game. Acted like he was picking up something around the bench. Yeah, sure. Showed me that he has no class. He did a great job coaching but that is about as far as it went. Maybe he should read Pat Summitt's book and adopt one of her definite dozen, "Handle success like you handle failure. Just an observation by several people at the game. No wonder players act the way they do, its because some coaches are classless.
  7. baseline, they were not looking ahead. They are just too lazy to get the job done. Just ask Coach Prudden. They ran until halftime of the boys game due to lack of rebounding. Could be a long night for the lady cats. Interesting, I didn't know they were arnwine's wildcats.
  8. Anyone that was at the Oak Ridge vs Cleveland game should not be surprised if Powell handles Oak Ridge. The lady cats are way overrated. They got outrebounded, out hustled and shot the ball poorly. Other than that they won the game. Powell is 20 points better than Cleveland and maybe just maybe that much better than Oak Ridge. Cleveland's up and down the floor really bothered Oak Ridge. Of course, when you are lazy, alot of things bother you. If Cleveland had a coach with a decent plan they would have won. Evidently the mav has not been reading my posts. I have been picking Powell all along. They have size, qickness, scorers and the desire to win this game. Should not be a problem for them. They just have to guard from being to reved up.
  9. 23smom is very wise. Pay attention to her prediction.
  10. baseline, Smith is exactly the reason for Powell to play zone. She is a better shooter than last year but not good enough to beat you from the outside. You take your chances with Holbrook. She is hot and cold, just don't give her the wide open three. Get a hand up and make her work to get the ball. They played man on OR last year because Frazier could and would sometimes move without the ball. Stewart is pretty much stationary and not much of a factor without the ball. Just one person's thought. You are correct that this is a big game for Powell, but as I have said before, they should keep their perspective as games later in the season will be much bigger. Would rather loose this one and win the tourney games. That is how you advance. Powell by 10 or less. Have a great day.
  11. macintosh, She is not sick. More than likely it is or what. Just kidding. From what I can learn, coaches are not happy with her effort of lack thereof. They feel that she could give a much better accounting of herself than she does at times. If you know Coach Prudden at all, you know that she does not tolerate lack of effort no matter who you are. I have seen her sit players that have much more tallent than Stewart. It would not surprise me to see her absent from the starting lineup in future games. I guess we will see if she is smart enough to learn from her mistakes.
  12. Arnwine, Thanks for the support. But they are not my Lady Wildcats. I just enjoy "good" high school girls basketball. I also enjoy watching coaches that know what they are doing and in my opinion Jill Prudden is one of the best around win or loose. Guess we will see about the line, maybe you know more than I do. As far as Hollifield being Powell's best player, I don't think there is any doubt about that. She is also better than anyone OR can put on the floor. I don't know if she will guard Stewart as I wonder how much man he will play. The times I have seen them, he switches defense quite a bit. In my opinion zone is the way to go against Oak Ridge. Even if Powell's guard don't come to play, I don't think Oak Ridge will run away with it. They don't shoot it well enough on a consistent basis nor do they rebound well enough, especially considering Powell's size. I guess we will know in a couple of days. Also, must remember that Oak Ridge has a big challenge with Cleveland coming to town on Monday.
  13. Arnwine, Looks as if you have been spending some time on the game plan. The only thing that I can tell you for sure is that Coach P will do what she thinks her players can do the best. That doesn't necessarily mean that they can perform as she would like. As far as the press, her history has been that she will use it in spots. Prolly start out in man would be my guess because of their shooters and try to pressure the ball to make the entry pass a little more difficult. I don't know if Oak Ridge has many fouls to use as they really do not have a bench other than maybe Davis and she is a defensive liability. I also do not see that OR has a rebounding advantage. I have only seen Powell a coupleof times and Hollifield did not show me that she was afraid of contact. I tend to agree about Powell being up for this game. They had better realize that it is a long season and this is only one district game. You know the 1st and 2nd place teams in the district get a bye into the Region tourney. Of course, 1st is better than 2nd, since 2nd would more than likely be in Sevier Co. bracket and would have to play them in semi's of the region. I think Powell has too much fire power for Oak Ridge and if they shoot reasonably well should win. I really don't see Oak Ridge and the 10 points that you see. Not enough depth or size to compete. Of course, I could be way off base. I agree Powell should pack the zone in and make OR hit the outside shots to beat them. They have only shot well in a couple of games and if you double down on the post its makes it very difficult. The only other factor that might come into play would be the foul sitaution. It depends upon how the game is called. If it was like the Greeneville tourney and the whistle blows every 30 seconds it could be a long night for both teams. Anyway enough of my rambling, Have a good one.
  14. You may look for Stewart not to start. She did not start the last two games they played in Greeneville and basically did not show for the the Bradley game. Just a thought for those of you with an interest. Also, Oak Ridge may not press Powell as much as you might think or then again they may.
  15. It's one thing to like someone and something else to be able to get the job done.
  16. The post from clovers22 doesn't really warrant a response.
  17. Bearettefan, What I heard from Coach Harlow was uncalled for and it was downing Oak Ridge and Coach Harlow was out of control. Maybe you didn't hear what I heard. Anyway, it was a great game and a well deserved win for Bradley. No doubt that they have the potential to be in the Boro, but the Greeneville tournament was not the State tournament. When you win it all, that is the time to be excited. It is a long hard road and the only objective at this point should be to try and improve each and every night out. Heres hoping that Jack can get his emotions under control because this team will need him down the stretch.
  18. Arnwine, You take me back to so many great names and the years roll by. You are putting some age on me and maybe yourself LOL. I thought I had come up with the name from Oneida and then I realized that the girl I was thinking of was Kerry Boyatt and she went to Clemson. I can see her in my minds eye but cannot come up with a name. Here is one for you, Pearl Moore from Harriman, went to UT and never developed. Had some injury probs if I remember correctly. Erin McGinnis is who you are thinking about and she started at Auburn, and wouldn't or couldn't play enough defense for Coach Champi (sp) and took her talents elsewhere. After many stops at several small schools, she finished her career at Indiana. She turned into a very good player for them and at one time was on their coaching staff. Don't know if she is still there. She is the middle McGinnis sister
  19. Alot of questions, don't see any answers!!!!!
  20. His name is Michael Dodgen. His dad is Donald Dodgen, the boys coach at Farragut. Has a couple of sisters, one (Brianne) I think was her name played at Sevier County and went to a school in North Carolina, maybe UNC Greensboro, and he has another sister that I think is now playing at Pigeon Forge.
  21. arnwine, I agree about Alcoa. I don't see any reason for Jill to try and beat anyone by that margin. Sometimes things just happen, I don't think this year's team will be able to run it up on to many teams, unless they start shooting alot better. Oak Ridge plays at Powell on Tues. following a home date with Cleveland. I saw Powell this morning against a weak West team. I agree once again. Powell has it all, plenty of size, shooters, good but not great guards that make good decisions, enough depth and now with their relatively new assistant coach, someone to give them direction. Should be a real struggle for Oak Ridge. Especially since Powell has been pointing towards this game for a full year. They prolly feel that they should have won 2 of the games last season. No, I did not see the props for Azzi and Caldwell. But I agree with you. Nikki is the main reason behind the so called great recruiting class that UT had this year. You never know about recruiting for a couple of years. Azzi is prolly the best conditioned basketball player that I have ever seen. She can run all day. I did not mean to say that Wilson was in their class. I was just listing some good OR players. I think she got the most out of her talent than just about anyone inthis area. I did not think she would be able to go to Chattanooga and play in the post as she did. A really great young lady as are Nikki and Jennifer. Anyway, so much for what I know.
  22. I really don't feel that Bradley will have alot of trouble with Cleveland, unless they have an off night. I agree that it was a great game. None the less, if he is 2-8 or 8-2, that is no reason to act the way he did. Jack is better than that. I hope that have a great season and take it all in the boro.
  23. baconbreath, you are correct, a tip of the cap to the young ladies from Cleveland. I noticed you comment about avenging the loss to Oak Ridge. Seemed it was more of revenge than anything after the comments Coach Harlow made after the game. I have been watching girls HS ball for more years than I can to mention and I have never seen anything like it. It seemed way out of character for Coach Harlow. Don't know if you were there, but if you were, I think you know what I am referring to. Oak Ridge has nothing but respect for the Bradley team and Jack and really do not understand what prompted his actions. Oh well, I guess a person hangs around long enough and they will see it all. Good luck to Bradley Central the rest of the season.
  24. arnwine, According to their schedule they have victories over: Knox Catholic, Sequoyah, Anderson Co., Lenoir City, Austin-East, Fulton, South Doyle, and Monterey. Their one lost is to Wm Blount. I saw them against vs Monterey and was not that impressed. They shot the ball well, but did not play what I would call team ball. Monterey did not have the speed and quickness to match up. They have been putting up some good numbers and could be better than what I am seeing. This week will give a better picture as their schedule says they play Maryville and Oak Ridge among others in the next week. Interesting that we finally agree on something. Anyway, have a great 2004
  25. Nothing like being wrong everytime I post an opinion. Sorry for the mistake. On to bigger and better things.
