  1. 2016 Anderson County Schedule Week 1 Carter A Week 2 William Blount H Week 3 Hixon H Week 4 Clinton A Week 5 Chattanooga Howard A Week 6 Heritage H Week 7 East Ridge H Week 8 OPEN Week 9 Chattanooga Central A Week 10 East Hamilton A Week 11 Sequoyah H #HOOKEM
  2. Three away games in Chattanooga. Players get out of school for most of the day, eat out, and ride a coach bus down 75 to walk through at UTC. I am sure they will want to do that. Who wouldn't? I can assure you AC coaches, parents and players are excited about those trips. They will travel well, and are looking forward to playing some new teams.
  3. Great Hire by Union County. They will win some games. Some teams better get ready for some 2 tight power I football. They will make a difference at that school and with those kids. Should be fun to watch.
  4. Sean Jessie should get a shot. He is good football coach, and I am interested to see what he does next. If not offered the HC at Clinton, then he will make a nice addition somewhere. He knows how to throw the football and will bring a system of completions where ever he goes.
  5. Both sides trying to make it happen. Gotta match up dates as always, trying to keep OR as well.
  6. Homerun for Union County if true. Halls and Gibbs should be worried if he is back. All those dads that played at Halls and still live in Halls will want their kid to play for him. If this is true, UC will be moving a positive direction as Coach Kerr has demonstrated over time that he can build a program. Will wait for an announcement, but if this is true, great job to UC for going out and getting a coach that has been there and done that. He has won every where he has been.
  7. Tad did you see AC's schedule the past two years. Played Greeneville, Oak Ridge, Fulton, Central and Catholic. AC not afraid of step up, we have been stepping up for a while. Time for AC to take the show on the road, I know the fan base is ready for it.
  8. Thanks Space, it is an outstanding place to play. We hosted middle school 7v7 today, had a lot of talent out there. Next week AC is hosting a youth and middle school jamboree. Should be a packed house. Come on out and see these young guys from across our area as they try out the new turf. Mavs have had a sold summer of work and 7v7, now it is time to play real football and get the pads out. Greeneville is loaded with talent, and so are the Mavs. Both have sophomore quarterbacks who can light it up. Both have offensive lines that can block ya, and tackle ya. It should be a great game, great atmosphere as they break out the new turf field. It should be a packed house, and as always a lot of fireworks on and off the field.
  9. Falcon, y'all keep winning by 70 over there, we gonna take it one game at a time. Our freshman and sophomores are getting quality reps and the upper classmen are playing hard. We got Central on Thursday night, and Carter the last game of the season. Look for the Mavs to make the last part of the season interesting. The eight year steak of playoff appearances is on the line and all coaches and players are aware of it. Be patient , and let's see how this thing plays out. Go Mavs
  10. Last night didn't have anything to do with Coach Kerr. it was a team that decided they weren't gonna lose. Anderson County is young and If you haven't played at AC then you wouldn't understand what those guys have done and what they do to their kids to instill what you saw last night. The Mavs didn't play with that relentless attitude against Oak Ridge or Fulton. It may or may not have changed the score of those two games , but when a team plays like the mavs did in the second half last night, it don't matter what play you have or who your qb is. If Coach Kerr can get this team to the playoffs back to back years, then that is a vast improvement on what you have had the past 15 years. He has finally assembled a staff and has a middle school program doing well and all the whinnying tails come out because they can't beat the mavericks. I can assure you this, it don't matter who is coaching the next three years, AC will have the same mentality. They say it daily. Our WILL over skill. When they don't bring that to games , it isn't davey Gillums fault. He calls the same play against OR as he does any game they play. Teams block and teams tackle and when they win, they win together , and when the lose, they know why and it isn't because the coach needs to be fired.
  11. You keep missing an obvious team some how, but I know you will find them.
  12. BigDave, you seem to be up to date on stats, can you look and see over the past ten years who has been consistently bad? There has to be some teams that have really struggled the past ten years. Maybe even some teams that are currently on their way to positive win season this year.
  13. Lift a Thon went well for the Mavericks. Some solid lifts considering all the snow days missed. The power clean seemed to be a point of emphasis, as the techniques were well coached. The second cycle of lifting will take the Mavericks through Spring ball. Very excited to see the Maverick Offense as they replace Matt Fox. Coach Gillum always seems to coach the RB position well, find the kid that can carry the bread. Chadwell got the defense dialed in last year and this year will no different. The kicking game will be solid, as the kicker and punter return. Spring ball starts in May , don't forget to got to acmaverickfootball.com to get all the latest on the Mavericks. Golf tourney and pancake breakfast in April, all info on the website. Go Mavs, and Hook Em Horns.
  14. 6'5 Offensive Lineman Bronson Black signed his letter of intent with the University of the Cumberlands. His best football appears to be ahead of him as he got a late start for the Mavericks. He is very smart with a high ACT score and GPA. Junior QB Tate Holmes finished third in the state in his weight class in wrestling forth Mavericks. Look for big things from him as he now goes into the weight room and gets ready for his senior season as the Mavericks QB. He has the mental toughness and smarts to run Coach Gillums offense. should be a fun year to watch the QB position at AC. Also want to congratulate Garrett Johnson and JJ Yellon for being announced top 10 in their graduating class. Coach Gillum making sure his seniors are working hard in the classroom, weight room, and in the community. Over 40 incoming ninth graders lifting daily as well.
  16. Congratulations to Maverick RB Matt Fox and OL Josh Edwards for making the 2015 Tennessee Kentucky All Star Border Bowl to be played January 10 at the University of the Cumberlands. This game is always a good one to watch. Make plans to attend and these two Mavericks strap it on one more time in a high school game.
  17. Merry Christmas to all Maverick Fans. It has been another awesome year for the Mavs. 7-0 for the first time in school history, 8th straight trips to the playoffs, including 12 out of the last 15 years and 21 times in the schools 32 year history to the playoffs. Coach Gillum, Chadwell, Cross, Slone, Bass, Coach Russ and Coach Terry have had the Mavericks in the playoffs each of 6 years that Coach Gillum has been the head man. A lot to be proud of, and a lot to look forward to with one of the biggest and strongest incoming freshman classes we have had. Please be sure to sign up at acmaverickfootball.com for another drawing on Christmas Eve. Go Mavericks, HookEm
  18. Anderson County has to be mentioned here. They graduate starting seniors every year, and continue to find their way back into the playoffs 8 straight years. Fulton, no doubt number one under someone beats them. I think the teams listed are solid, but Anderson County is in the mix.
