  1. Both teams with two losses against solid competition. Both with two wins over bad to decent competition. This game is a true separator for the inside track to that #2 seed in 4-6A come playoff time. Coach Gentry, staff, and players have been steadily building since he got the job. 5-6 year one, 8-3 year two. The jury is still out on if forward momentum will continue this season. Back in August coach made a comment I believe on Tate Mathews’ show that progress for him this year would be Lebanon hosting a 1st round playoff game. Hasn’t happened since 2004 I believe. Tonight will go a long way towards determining if that’s possible this year.
  2. Well no surprise here. Lebanon fell behind early and everybody knows how one dimensional they are offensively. They are what they are and not much they can do about it. Just not much ability in the passing game. What is frustrating though is how undisciplined Lebanon has been so far this season. 10+ penalties vs both Gallatin and MJ and most of them dead ball penalties. Good teams don’t need any help and Lebanon is nowhere near good enough to overcome that. After 3 games it looks to me like Lebanon has definitely taken a step back this season. The bottom of the region is so poor that I think Lebanon will still qualify for the playoffs as the 4 or possibly 3 seed but that means another trip to Oakland, Blackman, or Riverdale and a running clock in round one of the playoffs.
  3. Obviously pulling for the Blue Devils but I’ll believe they beat MJ when I see it. Hopefully not as many mistakes as the Gallatin game.
  4. Nice report, thank you. Encouraging to hear that Lebanon held their own along the lines despite being outsized. And I agree the offense will run through Dequantay Shannon this year. Kid is a JR but has seen heavy varsity action back to his freshman year.
  5. Thanks for this report VU365. Will you be going to the scrimmage at Smyrna on Tuesday? Would love to read your thoughts on that one as well.
  6. https://www.lebanondemocrat.com/article/sports/football/2019/07/27/high-stepping-toward-a-new-season/ According to this article from the Democrat just those two schools. I’m guessing maybe two quarters of freshmen, two quarters of JV, and two quarters of varsity.
  7. One addition for Lebanon: they will have a jamboree vs Cookeville on 8/16
  8. Standings heading into district finales tonight: MJ 12-1 LHS 10-3 SC 9-4 GHS 6-7 HHS 5-8 BHS 4-9 WC 4-9 PHS 2-11
  9. Midway point: MJ 7-0 LHS & SC 5-2 HHS 3-4 BHS/GHS/PHS/WC 2-5
  10. No doubt MJ is far and away the best team in this district. I’ll really be surprised if they drop a district game this season. However their one loss was at East Nashville back on the opening day of the season, not McGavock.
  11. Standings: MJ 6-0 LHS & SC 4-2 Everybody else 2-4
  12. MJ 4-0 SC 3-1 BHS, HHS, LHS, WC all 2-2 GHS 1-3 PHS 0-4
  13. MJ, SC, WC, GHS all 1-0 LHS, BHS, HHS, PHS all 0-1
  14. What’s everybody’s schedule this week? Lebanon plays at Clarksville High tonight and hosts Cookeville Thursday
  15. Lebanon played better offensively than they have all season IMO but couldn’t put anything together in the two possessions they had after Hville scored to go up in 4Q. Commandos were able to exploit Lebanon D up the middle as they had 3 long runs by three different players, 2 for TDs. Nobody else has really done that to that extent vs Lebanon this year. Hville vs MJ in the final week for the region title should be a good one. Lebanon has those two out of the way but can’t afford anymore region losses or they risk missing the playoffs. Their final 3 region games will all be at home. 8-2 regular season would be another step in rebuilding this program based on where it was just 2 years ago.
  16. You may be right. I didn’t think Lebanon would be close with Hendersonville last year either or MJ two weeks ago. We will see soon enough!
  17. I just feel like Hendersonville has had this game circled for 365 days since last years result. Lebanon will get their best shot no doubt.
  18. Yeah I just don’t see Lebanon being able to generate enough offense to take this one. Hendersonville 24 Lebanon 14
  19. Yep Lebanon is getting there defensively, but offense has a long way to go. 24-7 Bears
  20. Deep playoff run will be tough for Lebanon. Even if they were to avoid Oakland or Blackman in round one they would get one of them in round 2 and that’s where it would end. But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. Lebanon has been a doormat for a long time prior to last season. One week at a time.
  21. Well that’s one in my toss up category that went the Blue Devils way. The rest of the non region schedule is kind of lame. McGavock, Lavergne, Antioch and Coffee Co were all beaten soundly last night if I recall correctly. Defensive line for Lebanon dominated 1st half but they were on the field most of the second half and seemed gassed. Offensive line play must improve going forward. Crite is really smooth at QB but he must have some opportunity to operate. Didn’t have much last night. On to Home opener vs McGavock!!
  22. Good game, great atmosphere! Will this series continue past this season? I hope so because the turnout the past couple years has been awesome and it’s very even 1-1 with scoring at 22-22. Trousdale is by far the toughest non-region foe on Lebanon’s schedule this year IMO.
  23. Lebanon is scrimmaging Gallatin Friday? Time & location? Look forward to hearing your thoughts on the scrimmage Gwave! Does anybody know who else Lebanon has or will scrimmage? Thanks
