  1. yAxis, Go ahead and stamp the Mint Chocolate Muffins ticket to state, the Pope himself couldn't slow their roll to the big game! Also, Page can't handle CPA. No way CAK makes it. Catholic will definitely beat whoever they play. CCS and Boyd are shoe ins for the tournament. And White House Heritage is always so good, no way they don't make the tournament.
  2. Or we'll just go ahead and talk about that stuff here cause it's the most convenient....
  3. I don't know how anyone could dispute that's been his mentality for certainly as long as he's been at Alcoa... Heck, his playbook that was entirely centered around 3 players last season reflected that.... With that said, (and I say this as a complete joke) if anyone has ever accused Alcoa of blatantly recruiting, they ain't seen nothing until they've seen the front page of the Daily Times that, no joke, says "HELP WANTED" on it with a lead in to a story about Alcoa football 😂 you can't make this stuff up around these parts!
  4. Word on the street is that Shareef, one of the state's finest wrestlers, isn't playing football anymore to focus on wrestling... Any truth to that?
  5. They were missing Koko, also not a 40 carry guy but anyone who watched Alcoa football the year Koko was the #1 knows the ball was being given to Tyson when it mattered. I know you're relatively new to their program, just pointing it out for you. Not arguing here, just saying that if Alcoa can't find a feature back, they're in trouble. The stable thing doesn't work at Alcoa because Gary finds a guy and rides him, not rotates backs each series or what not.
  6. Ehhhh I don't know much about pre-Dustin Lindsey Alcoa running backs, but the only running back Alcoa has had who probably wasn't capable of carrying it 40 times a game if need be was Vee and Alcoa didn't win state when he was "the guy". Literally every other back was capable. Difference between "doing it without one" and "not needing to do it".
  7. I guess my last couple sentences, and anyone can answer this, boils down to this not so simple question: What makes Knoxville Catholic High School Catholic besides the affiliation and funding from the church?
  8. Not offended one bit, and most certainly not trying to offend anyone either. Don't know if this matters, but I went to a Catholic school in 1st grade in Texas. Long time ago for sure, but I remember not getting an A in religion class because I didn't attend mass like the rest of the students. While that was eons ago and I'm hopeful that catholic schools today aren't grading the same way, I don't think it is some terrible assumption that a Catholic school, the same as a Baptist school or whatever, specifically teaches their doctrine. If they don't, what even makes them a ________ school? (fill in the blank). I'm actually sort of surprised at your statements Q that Catholic, basically, isn't a Catholic school by any other method than their funding. Would you say that's correct? I'm not trying to find some loophole to hang your school by, I'm really interested and there's no other avenue with which to ask these questions.
  9. Again, none of my business, but how do you approach the bible classes then, which I imagine are very far off doctrinally what you believe? Have you found this to be an issue at any point when your child is being taught something 5 days a week that is very different than what you believe? And since I'm already being nosy, would you care to share what the fundamental differences you had with CAK that you did not have with Grace? Thanks for entertaining my questions, like I said, the idea of sending my Protestant family to Catholic school seems completely out of the question because I don't believe what they'd be teaching my boys, and I don't want my boys confusing their doctrine with ours. I appreciate it IrishBball
  10. Two statements from your latest post I'm interested in. First: I can't imagine that a football coach at a small-ish school like Alcoa has much say over who is on his staff or not considering that most of the football positions are tied to teaching jobs. Is that not the case at Alcoa? And second: Was the state championship game Meyer's first game he had played in? Or had he had any kind of experience before that?
  11. I can't say I'm familiar with the way Alcoa's coaching responsibilities are divied up but it was well documented on this board (by Alcoa supporters) that play calling lost them the finals last season. So I guess if he's calling them, then Rankin is to blame? And even if he's not, head coach is supposed to have final say on play calling so that's still on him, right? I see the records from other places, and I know maybe I'm crazy, but I'm not impressed by what Rankin has done at Alcoa when I know that 2 other coaches have won state titles there in the last 15 years. Obviously no disrespect to the state's winningest coach, but he's done a heck of a job picking his spots. He didn't exactly ressurect a fledgling program.
  12. This comment isn't directed at anyone in particular, but it would seem ignorant to suggest that someone else couldn't have won the same number of state championships (or more) if they were in Rankin's shoes over the last 9 years. (I'm just gonna go ahead and throw out the "well we'll never know so no point in bringing it up" statement) At no point over the last 9 years has a team had more talent than Alcoa (not even the 12 CAK team or this past CPA team). I think most would agree, including the Alcoa homers, that Alcoa lost those 3 games more than CPA and CAK won them.
  13. How long did it take you to cut and copy all that? Seriously...? So I make 3 posts, in the same thread, all with a similar theme (cause ya know, most people don't just completely flip what they're talking about in the middle of a conversation), and I'm an automatic CPA supporting troll? Look I'm really sorry Saw, I forgot in my experience at the girls state tournament that ND parents are just as big of whiners as your buddy from DeKalb. I'll leave you with a little reminder that my parents told me when I was younger.... Never assume.... It'll make a saw4ND out of u and me...
  14. See that's the problem with people who come here just to pump their own team to the 7 people who check these boards. At NO point did I ever say I'm a CPA supporter. Honestly, I'm not a supporter of any particular team but have coached and watched a lot of soccer. You're not going to step in and say that I'm simply a troll when I HAVE contributed to these boards but YOU don't like what I've contributed. You're just as bad as the guy from DeKalb Saw. Maybe you're the troll, since you dont want anyone to cross your A/AA soccer board bridge... And also lets be clear... 99% of the coach from DeKalb school's activity is bashing private schools and whining about their inclusion in what he wants to be a "play with what gets off the bus" league, which it may or not be eventually, but then shoot you've got to deal with open zones or magnet schools or schools that have hit the NCLB gold mine. Pardon me if you think IM the troll after all the junk he's been putting on this board. What a joke....
  15. I have to imagine that the administration at DeKalb school has no idea you come on here and spew the junk you do consistently. Since they probably don't, I'll go ahead and be embarrassed for them.
  16. Coach maybe you misunderstood... This is a top 10 list of the BEST teams in the state.... Easy misunderstanding....
  17. What then, if you don't mind me asking, was the determining factor to send your non Catholic child to a Catholic school, versus, say Grace for example, who has lower student-teacher ratio, comparable cost, and has done better overall over the last 4 years athletically than Catholic has done? As a Protestant man myself, I can't imagine sending one of my sons to a school who doctrinally doesn't believe what we believe. I don't mean to be invasive, but it's an interesting situation to say the least. And I did a check on both sites, CAK and Catholic are priced at about $800 difference for non-Catholic families. And about $2,800 difference for Catholic families.
  18. How in the world CAK is ranked #1 in the new rankings I will never know. They have looked average at best against quality competition. CPA is easily the best team in the state this year and coaches not voting for them to be top seems simply as sour grapes. I'm calling a CPA vs Mint Chocolate Muffins final.
  19. The issue that I have had recently, (and not so recently I suppose) is that it appears that Catholic has no religious requirements for admission into the school, but rather gives a "financial break" to a student who is actually catholic. This differs from other local religious schools who require the student to have current, specific religious affiliations, with no break. I have seen Catholic, CAK and Grace all play varying sports over the last few years and the level of diversity at Catholic as opposed to CAK and Grace is staggering.
  20. So one minute he's your son and the other he's your nephew? What kinda funky family lovin is going on in DeKalb County? Ya'll sure you ain't from Alabammer or something? 😳
  21. Mhmmm... And how'd that turn out for them? Also, last year is last year and this year is this year, right? Just like how I got dogged for saying how great CPA is, you can't stand on last year's merits either. 👌🽠and if I'm being completely honest, I've never heard of DeKalb either. Do you have a soccer team?
  22. WHAT?! 😳 Are you the guy who bakes the Mint Chocolate Muffins or just the guy who eats them?
  23. Wow. I like to think that I have been around this state and watched a lot of soccer (and other sports). I have NEVER heard of this Mint Chocolate Muffin school that you're trying to tell us about. Nobody is talking about you because nobody is impressed by you. "We beat so and so who beat so and so who beat so and so who beat the defending champions SO WE'RE THE DEFENDING STATE CHAMPIONS!!".....please.... Either you are a player for the team or the mother of the coach. Either way, you won't make it to state so it won't matter. I'd offer to send you a postcard from Murfreesboro but I'm sure you can just pick one up yourself....
  24. First time caller, long time listener. I think the "Tornado Warning" this year with Hinkin was lame compared to the one from like '10. Yall need to fix that. I'm gonna hang up and listen 😎
  25. Seriously? I made 2 posts about CPA... Could you possibly be anymore sensitive?
