  1. The Buccaneer Soccer Club, middle school team that feeds Beech, is going. We're taking about 40 and will be next the Sam's Army in red.
  2. Gallatin 3-1 in the Beech Bayou. Murder at the MudPuddle. "Jimmy" took it to Beech. It was nice to see the Beech Armada support the team, rubber ducks and all.
  3. Nothing... Which middle schools have teams? What about club teams, are they playing right now? We scheduled Davidson. We also scheduled a couple of scrimmages with some Metro teams but they seem to be going co-ed. Is that unusual??
  4. We have a start up team in the Hendersonville area and will be playing Goodpasture and a few others in that league. Due to the limited number of teams in the league we are looking for games...real, friendly or scrimmages. We are very young but have experienced players. We have 24 players so we divided into two teams, but have a few who play for both. While we probably can't compete with older experienced teams, one of our teams should be competitive with most others. Any ideas...
  5. What a great match!! Here's how I see it: 152- Wright takes Waddell down in overtime, Bowler waits too long to call it and Waddell gets away in sudden death (DI 0, DII 3) 160- Creagan cradles in the third to win 7-5, Mara officiates (DI 3, DII 3) 171- Bateman in a slugfest 5-3, Simpson scheduled to officiate but has to back out due to Ryan ties (DI 3, DII 6) 189- Baylor wins in another slugfest when Morgan gets caught on his back in the third 7-4 (DI 3, DII 9) 215- Reveiz wins on a Coffee slam, Coffee was leading 8-2, (Mara's call) 275- Vandergriff wins in an action filled HWT match...seriously 7-2, Simpsons first match (DI 12, DII 9) 103- Randolph too seasoned for MBA, 7-3 (DI 15, DII 9) 112- Johnson in a major 11-3 (DI 19, DII 9) 119- Too much Simpson, Adamson finally human 9-3, Jim Simpson has to sit out another match (DI 19, DII 12) 125- Need help here 130- Bundy majors, decides to let Young go and kills him on his feet 13-4 (DI 23, DII 12) 135- DI has no answer for Manson, major for Manson as Fuller shuts down (DI 23, DII 16) 140- Young in sudden death when Holliman can't get away (DI 23, DII 19) 145- Felix in a tech fall and earns OW (DI 28, DI 19 plus 125 match) Simpson calls two matches and makes the same as Mara and Bowler
  6. Coach Delgado, Not sure if it is new THIS year or just a clarification of older interpretations, but a forfeit counts as a match so in your example of one wrestler having five matches already before con finals he would not be allowed to forfeit. There must be other criteria to determine a winner, or more unfortunately the loser.
  7. Good for Reviez. I'm not sure how good Coffey really is, but he is like wrestling a granite statue...balance and strength. I think Reviez would do well if he didn't get pinned. That's just me though-
  8. Smyrna beats Beech by 3 or so. Don't have many details (again, I know, sorry). Looked like Beech bumped their smaller guys but it backfired as Smyrna won 30, 35 and 40. Kleinert bumped to 45 and beat Sommers 4-0.
  9. Springfield beats Beech 44-30 (or so) in the first match. Don't have many details other than Springfield dominates the upper weight classes and Beech coach loses one team point. Springfield pins at 145 to close it out.
  10. Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for specifics so I can contact to determine if scheduling is a possibility. Also, since this would be a startup program I'd like not to get them destroyed every game, that's why I asked about skill level. In Williamson Co are we talking about Woodland, Grassland, Freedom, Heritage, Fairview?
  11. Looking for some information on middle school teams in the mid state area. Am considering starting a program in the Sumner Co area but don't know who else plays. I'm guessing some of the privates have teams...Goodpasture, Davidson maybe. Is the skill level very good? or do they have kids just getting started? Tell me what you know. Much appreciated.
  12. rc, You are WAY off on reftn. I'm sure his lunch proposal is very sincere. You should take him up on it. If you'll review some of his posts you will find he is in favor of putting a number on his back for evaluation. I also think reftn will tell you those guys that want to officiate to get back at someone are referred to baseball.
  13. Most of the weight classes were flat out loaded in this region (130, 135, 171...fill in the blank). Bundy at 125 and Tisdale at 140 maybe Johnson at 160 were the only ones to really dominate their weight class (I'm sure there are some others who think they have other "dominators" you are free to post). Minwell beat a very good Wash convincingly but that weight class was loaded. Shanes from Hendersonville owns a victory over the current region champ but will be at home next weekend-tough wt. class. There are also some very good Harpeth and Springfield kids that are staying home. Clarksville won the team race comfortably but they are certainly not "in tact". Soddy and Bradley breezed out of their respective regions with all 14 and will have a definite advantage next week. They are excellent programs but would not have come out of Regions 5, 7 or 8 as easily (maybe ANY of the other regions, I'm just not very familar with the others). I don't think many will look back to this week as being inequitable. It's just part of the beast that has been created by improving the wrestling in the area as a whole instead of just building programs locally. I've seen the Cheatham, Dickson, Hendersonville, Harpeth, Springfield, Beech and others not quickly coming to mind at summer camps talking to each other (MBA, Ryan, Soddy, Memphis area coaches there too). Though I'm not a part of it there seems to be a real comraderie among this region's coaches. It has sure strengthen the region, which is not just Clarksville and to some degree Kenwood anymore. Hey, Creekwood and White House qualified a few wrestlers with a real shot to win some matches next week. I don't think any Region 7 team will be in the team hunt next week, but I think all the Region 7 teams will be pulling for each other and there should be a lot root for.
  14. White House has a couple of good looking kids...but to answer your question...they haven't wrestled anyone. White House has a young program so it is wise to bring them along slowly. It builds confidence and gets guys to wrestle who otherwise would stand by and make fun (quietly, that is) of the wrestlers. You have to fill the team first. I'm sure they have plenty of good athletes in their football players. It may be time for White House to step up the competition.
  15. You are also not thinking about the other members of his team. If Whitt wrestles 125 he bumps a teammate out of the lineup.
  16. Region 7-Creekwood in Dickson Region 5-Ravenwood
  17. Aspen, you are looking at an old rule book.
  18. Dunning teched Ortiz in the semis at Ryan...he is that good.
  19. Cleveland did not go to the duals. Collierville and Soddy were in different pools. Soddy ended up in the same pool with Hartselle...Soddy did not match up well there. As many will atest, pinning someone is not quite the same as pinned someone. Lots of great matches. Rossview is much improved. Hartselle is appararently at full strength (they must not have been at Slamfest). The Franklin/Hartselle match was fiery. Lots of good action.
  20. For those of you wrestling teams from states using the "old weight certification" system or some other alternative, do you find there are physical inequities among your wrestlers. I saw some very big 103s and 112s at McCallie this weekend from GA. I also understand GA weighs-in on Friday at their place before going to a Sat tournament. I understand everyone wrestling at the same tournament must follow the same guidelines so that part is fair for everyone. But, the kids that can qualify as a 103 from GA could cut from a much higher weight than TN due to the new weight certification process. What do you think? What about other states?
  21. This would be a good start to another thread...Since GA doesn't follow the same weight allowance criteria as TN, are GA and TN wrestling on a level mat. There were some big 103s and 112s from GA compared to TN. It was a very physical tournament with outstanding wrestlers and wrestling (which doesn't always follow).
  22. Chick, I'm with you. Soms rubs me that way too...my opinion.
