  6. WE SET A NEW HALLS INVITATIONAL RECORD. WE WERE FINISHED WRESTLING AROUND 6PM. THE MAIN REASON WAS LACK OF PARTICIPATION NOT THE GREAT TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR, MANY "GREAT" PARENT HELPER AND ONLY A FEW HALLS ALUMNI WRESTLERS. THIS YEAR WE ONLY HAD 15 TEAMS AND NOT MANY HAD FULL ROSTERS. THIS LED TO "TOO MANY" BYES IN THE FIRST 3 ROUNDS. THE GOAL OF THIS TYPE OF TOURNAMENT IS TO HAVE FULL BRACKETS. THIS WAY EVERY WRESTLER IS GARENTEED 3-MATCHES AND THE TOP 2 WRESTLERS IN THEIR POOL WILL GET 5-MATCHES. THERE IS A GOOD ARTICLE ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT IN TODAY'S KNOXVILLE NEWS SENTINEL http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/jan/14/maryvilles-jaron-brock-pushes-for-big-year/ I PRINTED IT BELOW. I WILL POST RESULT LATER ON TODAY. THE ANIMAL Maryville's Jaron Brock pushes for big year By John Shearer For wrestler Jaron Brock of Maryville High School, last year's disappointment has turned into this year's motivation. After missing out on the state tournament by losing in the Region 2 tournament to two wrestlers he had beaten in the regular season, he has battled back this year to a 30-1 record. Included in the accomplishment so far were four victories Saturday on his way to the 170-pound title and the Outstanding Wrestler Award at the Halls Invitational. "After the losses last year at the region, it was sort of an eye-opening experience," the senior Brock said after his pin of Kenny Campbell of Christian Academy of Knoxville in 30 seconds. "This year I've been pushing it hard in the wrestling room." While much of his success is due to internal motivation, he has also received some external aid through teammate and practice partner Chad Solomon, a freshman who also won a title Saturday in the 160-pound class with a 4-1 victory in the finals. "Having him be able to be there and us push each other helps a lot," said Brock, who hopes to continue his competitive push after graduation by possibly wrestling on the University of Tennessee club team and joining Army ROTC. "He's a big reason I'm out here today." The two also pushed Maryville to the team title in the 15-team competition. Their 212 points put them slightly ahead of runner-up Heritage (197), Seymour (118), Alcoa (107) and Halls (100). Another individual champion Saturday was Halls freshman Joe Fox, who pinned Brian Lacey of Page in the second period at 132 pounds. While Brock is motivated by the past, Fox is inspired by positive thoughts of the future. "This year I'd like to place at the state," Fox said, adding that he also wants to be a state finalist and champion before he graduates. This is just Fox's third year to wrestle. His father, Jeff Fox, had wrestled in high school some, so he took up the sport in seventh grade and has found it fun. "I enjoy all of it," he said. Other individual champions Saturday were Nick Crawford of Heritage at 106, Matthew Spradlin of Heritage at 113, Avery Hawk of William Blount at 120, Alan Frisco of Maryville at 126, Trent Williams of Seymour at 138, Jose Hernandez of Heritage at 145, Dylan Shinsky of Maryville at 152, Steven Wilson of Fulton at 182, Joshua Bain of Kingston at 195, T.J. Satterfield of William Blount at 220, and Joey Evans of Heritage at 285. John Shearer is a freelance contributor. © 2012, Knoxville News Sentinel Co.

We all know things like this happens and I have faith that even the worst things that happen, have a positive message. There must be some coaches out there you know that can commit to this sport we love, until the end of Thanksgiving! However, Spring Station Middle School's season starts practice on Monday next week! The season ends the last Saturday in Thanksgiving and there are stipends for these two jobs. We have 34 wrestlers signed-up and no coach as I type. The Athletic Director, and I have a contingency plan. Most importantly getting these young men hot for wrestling and not losing interest is my concern. You may contact me at 615.339.8597, or e.mail at wayned@wcs.edu We are located in Spring Hill Tennessee and there is no teaching position to go with this, yet Target and many local business are hiring Seasonal help right now on different shifts. Thanks for you help in advance!! Yours In Wrestling, Wayne Dunn Summit H.S. Wrestling Coach 615.339.8597 Cell wayned@wcs.edu
