  1. And a good mark to you Beave my friend! I've already joined but could you spot me the $12 anyway?
  2. No one said you had to be a plus member I just mentioned the timing. You sure are big on rights! Maybe you have a future with the ACLU since all of your posts are to the LEFT. Oh, I forgot I guess you're going to post 25 more times that Westview is overrated.
  3. My apologies. I looked at my notes wrong and saw a Dyersburg win at Martin but it was over Union City who they've beaten twice. Like I said, after the top two the next dozen are pretty even. GoMab, I'm honored that someone as knowledgeable as you is pretty much in agreement.
  4. Hooper, after Bolivar & Dyer Co. there's probably not five points difference between the next 12-14 teams. I will take exception with your Dyersburg/Humboldt picks. The Trojans have "quality" wins over Dyer Co, Westview, Union City, & a late season "woodshedding" of Northside. Humboldt started the season slow but have 2nd half wins over Milan(twice), Trenton, & Southside. They may not be 6 but somewhere 6-10 anyway. Thanks for the positive input.
  5. I'll try and overlook boasting and just address Bolivar being #1. Since the two teams did not meet this year we look at common opponents. Bolivar is 10-2 against what I deemed "quality opponents" while Dyer Co. is 9-2. One of Bolivar's losses was by two against Oxford Miss., the other an early season loss at Fayette-Ware. DC's were at Dyersburg & Haywood. Both beat Melrose & Maplewood by comparable scores at Christmas with Dyer County having homecourt advantage. The two are pretty much a push but I give a slight edge to Bolivar.
  6. To coincide with my "ponying up" to become a Plus Member, I am releasing my West Tenn. Top 10 for the last full week of the regular season. Once again this doesn't include Shelby County teams, not because I don't consider them a part of West Tennessee but because they have their own Dandy Dozen. Border county teams get a chance to be in both! After great study and gathering input, as well as weeping & gnashing of teeth, here goes: 1.Gibson Co. 2.Chester Co. 3.Obion Co. 4.Westview 5.Jackson Northside 6.Trenton 7.Dyersburg 8.South Fulton 9.Brighton 10.Dresden Honorable Mention(in no particular order) Huntingdon, McNairy Co., Scotts Hill

  8. Let me preface this by saying that when on the sidelines Butch has probably done his best coaching in the past three years this season. However, I can't go along with naming him coach of the year after being suspended for five games and with all of the controversy this year. It would be like legitimizing what's taken place. He did share it last year with Tim Britt, much to the dismay of the Choctaw faithful. This year I'd have to go with Shane Sisco. They've played DC close both times, had three battles with Westview(won 1) and played a tough non-district schedule with no real thoroughbreds in the stable! Team full of avg-good players but no one in the Caldwell/Williams/McCadney mold. It makes a coaches job a lot easier if he's got good horses to ride.
  9. There is a definite difference between urban/rural situations. I don't blame parents in urban areas for sending kids to private school if it's in their best interest. Parents have to make that determination themselves. I just get frosted when people make sweeping generalizations of any kind and bashing public education as a whole is an example. The vast majority of public schools in rural areas are doing a great job educating kids and providing them as many opportunities to succeed as possible. There are teachers in those urban public schools which should be commended as well they just have too many outside influences to overcome sometimes.
  10. Thanks for reminding of that CoachT. By the way, I posted on an earlier thread where Uno by his apparent previous postname had been and it soon disappeared. What happened to that thread on Westview? I had some heartfelt comments in that post.
  11. If Obion wins Tuesday Hoffman because OC wasn't expected to finish at top. Might still give it to him if they lose, but I'd then lean toward McMillan because of the injuries he's coached through.
  12. I'm like you Beave, I've seen Dyer Co. several times now and Butch actually has a rotation this year! Still think he would have benefitted from substituting more the last two years but maybe this is a part of the "kinder, gentler Hopkins" to go along with the shirt & tie. Running the triangle & two on Fisk/Crittendon gave Westview a shot but the zone had no answer for Mitchell in the 1st half and the 2nd half was all Choctaw. If DC plays up to potential they should cruise to the sub-state(UC, Haywood, Fayette-Ware are possible stumbling blocks if they have an off-night). Sub-state could be another story even at home. Nick Stiggers triumphant return to the Bluff City is going to bolster BTW and Ridgeway is already pretty salty. However, I wish Dyer Co. the best of luck. Will they get to host sub-state this year if they advance to that point?
  13. Doggy Would that be the interviewee that is NOT from West Tennessee? [Edited by NWhoopaholic on 2-7-03 11:06P]
  14. Lynn Garner was interviewed, as was David Gallagher from Fulton Co. Ky. Not at liberty to name any other "dark horses" Wes!!!!!!!!
  15. And once again I raise the spectre of how it's advantageous to finish 2nd in the District Toruney. That throws the other two powerhouses into the same bracket and asks you to simply beat Brighton for a trip to the sub-state. Only in Tennessee's money-driven playoff system can you benefit by losing! Just ask Dale Hollowell if 1st is not always best.
  16. Thanks David. For some reason when I typed in the web address it didn't work but your link did. A good mark to you my comrade!
  17. Did you actually go to lhgames.com or just find the site on a search?
  18. Can anyone, possibly in the Nashville area, tell me if Lance Haffner Computer Games has gone out of business. I˜ve been trying to log on to their website and server can˜t be found.

  20. Hey Big Wes, how are things up on the hill? Looks like you've got the same take on things as I do as far as frontrunners. May be a dark horse candidate as well. (Had to throw in some History!) Whoever comes in is arriving at a great time with the horses we're sending up the road to Tiptonville. If they can keep them out of the Gym! Your mom says hey. 21. Coach Sharp does have family in Lake County and that might be the wishful thinking of some "sideline" coaches but he did not apply. Six were interviewed last weekend, six more this weekend. Someone should be named before end of month.
  22. I heartily agree. Angie coached her heart out and Dyer County will only get better with age. Obion was never in a flow last night but credit DC's defense for some of that. Bet the Lady Rebels rebound tonight at The Pit against Crockett Co.
  23. Course JDub you've got to admit every team you played on had Trey on it as well! Not taking anything away from you cause you certainly had your moments from "downtown".
  24. The Obion Co-Crockett Co. games postponed on 1/24 are being played tonight 2/1.
