  1. I have not seen her play. She definitly sounds awesome. I'm not saying she dooesn't deserve it but I am curious. Do you feel that her not being a senior will hurt her? You know how sometimes the voters only want to vote for senoirs. And how would you compare her to someone like an Alex Jerald of Shelbyville?
  2. Sophmore Kamiko William Clarksville Northeast Has the size 5-10 Great ballhandler and passer extremely gifted athlete that can play inside or outside Already a solid high major prospect (21 ppg and 11.5 rebounds per game)
  3. AAA Angela Puelo - William Blount - signed with U of Georgia ranked # 14 Dawn Evans - Clarksville-Northeast - signed with James Madison ranked # 25 Anne Marie Lanning - Riverdale - signed with Middle Tennessee ranked # 19 It's probablly won't go to Angela because of Blount's record. Around .500 winning percentage, although her stats speak for themselves and she is a great player. She is very deserving regardless of the record. Dawn Evans 4th in midstate in scoring -22 ppg, 7 assist pg, 3.8 steals pg, 3 rebounds pg, and 2.2 3pointers pg. Already had a 53 pt game this year. Anne Marie Lanning 1st or 2nd in midstate in scoring - 24.5 ppg, 2.2 3pointers pg, nearly double figures in rebounds. Neither Riverdale nor Northeast would be close to experiencing the success they have had without these players. Lanning over 2300 or 2400 pts and Evans over 2000 pts. Both have won well over 100 games so far in their careers. There are players who exel on good teams and then there are players who carry their teams. These players are definitly carriers. Surely there are other candidates, but these are three that should be near the top of a short list.
  4. If they have signees on that team, then I guess that would include them too. Now wouldn't it? Although Northeast is a team that I like and follow, there are ohter players that I personaly know and like. For Instance: Anne Marie Lanning of Riverdale, Jasmine White of Smyrna, Jesse Edgar -Whitehouse, and Tierny Jenkins from Wilson Central. I'm iterested to Know how people feel these young ladies and other future college ballers will do at the next level. What's wrong nomoore? No signees on your favorite team?
  5. I think Mandy will do well in college, especialy if the team is athletic and quick. Because of her athleticism, She would definitly excel in an up-tempo style system.
  6. nothing in particular to say. Just wanted some thoughts on how many of the high profile signees will do in college. So what's yours?
  7. Which Division I signee will have the biggest impact in college and why?
  8. Which division I signee will have the biggest impact in college and Why?
  9. You are absolutely right. I should rephrase that. The coach was told that if she were able to sign thay would take her right now. So you are right. there is no formal offer. I stand corrected.
  10. Oknative, Believe me, I am well aware of what it takes to be a competent official. I appreciate your enthusiasm and fire for the very difficult task of officiating that you do but in all honesty your entire post smacks of sensitivity. No one is accusing you personally of being a horrible official. You may very well be one of the finest in TSSAA. But it seems to demonstrates your desire to prove the worth of tssaa officials, (of which you are one) to all these detractors. That is not what my post was about. It was merely on observation from someone who has experienced the battlefield. As officials, we know that the number of those who disagree with us will far outnumber those that agree. Our satisfaction comes from knowing we are respected by those dedicated colleagues who bust their humps and love what they do and from us knowing ourselves that we HONESTLY have done the best possible job we can do. In reguard to your statement, "I think my performance speaks for itself," remember the old addage, " if you have to tell someone how good you are doing, maybe-just maybe, you are not doing as well as you think." It is my opinion that the good officials in TSSAA tend to be very good. Unfortunately, going against what I normally do, I have to agree with the masses in saying that there are just not enough good ones and that is by no means meant as a bad reflection on you. Really enjoyed the conversation.
  11. treefitty74 (unique name), this young lady sounds like a real balla. As a women's basketball fan, I will keep an eye out for Miss Roney and the rest of these young ladies. Good luck to your favorite team.
  12. Oknative, I have officiated (not refereed) for several years 7 to be exact. It is a thankless job. However, that does not preclude an official from doing it correctly and professionaly. Although their motives may be a bit scewed, unfortunately many of these folks are correct. The officiating in this state is horrible. There is no other way to say it. The mechanics are aweful and I've never seen so many officials out of position and so inconsistent. TSSAA officials are so angry and sensitive. Many forget how emotional this sport is and whose playing. While it's true that order must be mantained, for the really good official there is a a way of allowing one to vent emotion and still maintain control. However your ego mustn't be bigger than the game itself. On the flip side I have witnessed some of the most top-notched officiating in this state. It really bothers me that is the exception and not the rule. If you are an official, you yourself are demonstrating the sensitivity that is so prevalent in TSSAA. And if you are you must know that everyone in the stands are officials as well. That comes with the territory. The bottom line is: if you are an official and you are no longer doing it for the love of the sport but merely for the few bucks, it's simply time for you to leave.
  13. Nothing wrong with rooting for a player you support. I just hope she has the numbers to back up the support. Good luck to Miss J. Roney
  14. It's never too early to talk about players of the year. But we must remember, its the best and most productive players that deserve this honor, not your favorite player or the most popular player. How many times have we seen posts that say,"this player is so smart." That usually means they are slow. Or "how a player is such a leader." That usually means they can't shoot. Or, "they rarely make turnovers." That usually means they can't create. Many times these statements equate into a player just managing the game and not making plays. Just a thought. So with that in mind whose your player of year candidate?
  15. Nice insightful post Morton but you are forgetting a really good player. Anne Marie Lanning (Riverdale). A very tough hard nose player that does everything well. On top of that, she is a terrific young lady. I don't really follow Riverdale High School that much but I have seen this young play and had the opportunity to spend some time with she and her family this summer. This young lady is top notch as a player and a person.
  16. Hey coach I stand corrected. You are right, it's really all about the kids. Thanks for the word on Miko. I'm sure you will agree that the offers will ba aplenty. Also, there has been no mention about your team any of these top 20 postings. The record speaks for itself. Millington should definitly be considered.
  17. Clarksville-Northeast has two tremendous ball players. Point guard Dawn Evans, who is going to be a candidate for miss basketball. Here are the facts: she a great scoer-27.7 ppg; a tremendous passer-8 assists per game; plays great defense - 2.5 steals per game scored 53 points in a game and hit 8 3's and a game (twice). Evans is a very good leader and reads the game exceptionaly well, but most of all Evans is a winner-81 wins in her first 3 seasons and 7 so far this year. Also Ssophmore Kamiko Williams, very talented scorer, 25 ppg. She is tremendous on the boards, 14 rebounds per game. Williams has the total package and plays all facets of the game extremely well 4.5 assists per game. She will undoubtedly have a great career at Clarksville-Northeast. We all have our opinions on what players are good but it is ultimately up to the colleges and universities to decide that. Kamiko Williams has already received an offer from an SEC school as a sophmore, and Dawn Evans has already signed with James Madison of the Colonial Athletic Conference. In case anyone doesn't know it, that conference is the 8th ranked conference in the country. There are 32 Division I conferences overall. There are some great players out there but I have to give my girls some props because the two are at or near the top.
  18. Sophmore, kamiko Williams from Clarksville-Northeast. Rmember the name. Very talented and has great size, 5-10. She has the total game. Miss Williams can score, 25 pts per game. She is tremendous on the baords, 14 rebounds per game. she also passes very well, 4.5 assist per game. She really is the total packge. She has already received an offer from the University of Florida from the SEC as a sophmore and haws garnered interest from ohter high majors as a sophmore.
  19. Jcsmithson I don't know what you saw during the aau season but as far as forcing dawn left, that is not accurate. She actuallly prefers to go left. and who was it the shut her down? On her aau team she didn't need to score as much on that team. If you you paid close enough attention or saw more than a game or two you would have noticed how many big plays she made and big shots. As for the sophmore , you are right, she is extremlely talented and quite gifted. She is already a tremendous player. It's scary to think how good she will be. I'm kind of curious how you worked with her last summer, when she and her family just got here from Germany at the end of the summer. In case you didn't know, Dawn is only averaging 27.7 pts per game and nearly 8 assists. Oh by the way she also had a 53 pt game. Pretty good for someone who supposedly can be shut down and can't go left. She is Northeast's go to player. Obviously, ohter teams haven't been able to shut her down. It's funny that you would make that assessment about forcing her left. Her future college coach flew down to watch her play last night and he remarked about her versitility and ability to go to either left or right and change direction. He felt that was one of her strengths along with her shooting. This is a Division I coach whose job is to assess players and whose team is a few votes outside of top 25 ranked teams in the country.I respect your opinion, I really do, but you probably haven't seen either one of the players enough to make an accurate assessment. Don't take this the wrong way, this is just a response to your statement or opinion that I respect. Hope we get a chace to talk bball again.

  21. Harpeth has only lost one game. They lost to Cheatham Co. I not sure about the score, I think is was around an 8 pt lost.
  22. If you email CoachT, I'm sure you will get an answer.
  23. O. K. 10 or more games into the season we should have a general idea of the top teams. Let's hear your opinions
  24. Coachgat Congrats on a tough win. A win is a win, especialy when a team is faced with adversity. Those are the kind of wins that really builds character in teams. Keep up the good work as I will continue to follow you and your team's success.
  25. Hey Coach, They think Miko Williams is about 85%. She played tentatively on Friday scoring 8 pts. She is averaging 24 per game. They think she should be fully back in another week. Raquel Barlow, the post still has a ways to go, although she did play sparingly on Friday. Dawn scored 33 pts and was 13 - 15 from the free throw line.
