  1. You people still crying about a shot clock.. Get a life.. First off, let me say this, for all the fans that found the game boring because Gleason played stall ball or whatever you choose to call their domination on offense. I was at all three games and although I didn't do a head count I can tell you that by percentage Gleason had the most fans. I think I can speak for most Gleason people when I say we found the game very exciting. Since we had the biggest % of fans in the stands, I will assume our opinions are the only ones that truly matters. I seen another post where a person I stated, "I believe a shot clock whould help our team". Why? Probably because they can't play denfense. There is one simple solution. Teach kids to play better defense and how to overcome a team that is running a 3 or 4 minute offense. Stop making excuse for those teams that can't play good defense. Why change the way every school in Tennessee plays to help those few teams that can't play defense. If I was your parent and you came home kicking, screaming, and crying the same that you have on here about how Gleason made the game boring and won because there was no shot clock. I would beat your butt and send you to your room for making up such a poor excuse for losing. OS had a great season, wins 2nd in the state, takes home a silver ball and eight days later instead of enjoying their accomplishments they have fans still crying.... What is this COACHTDAYCARE?
  2. No disrespect to any coaches, or teams. Gleason was not the team that start crying about a shot clock. Now, you are saying you would turn the clock off in the last two min of the game. Good answer and great way to avoid the question. So, now you are saying that if Gleason had the lead with under two minutes you would be ok with holding the ball. My only point is this, there is no shot clock in high school basketball, so why use that for an excuse. When people are making comments about wanting a shot clock and they bring up the game from this past Saturday it really gets under my skin. It's like they believe OS should have won and the only thing they can come up with is the excuse of a shot clock. I want argue the fact it might or might not have made any difference in the outcome of the game. I really don't even care if they add a shot clock. Just don't use it for an excuse...
  3. Give Gleason some credit. They didn't want to continue shooting the ball and score lots of points. They just finished embarrassing the first two teams winning by 25 & 28pts. They were trying to keep the game close so OS looked like they actually deserved to be in the title game with a team as Great as Gleason. If our girls had continued shooting, we be reading about how are girls had the game won and continued to run the score up. Get a life, be proud of the OS girls, and the silver ball..
  4. Several people have valid points about shot clocks. But, first let me say, I have seen Gleason lose by a few points and the other team hold the ball. I never heard of anybdoy including myself start begging for a shot clcok. A team loses a state championship game and instead of admitting that it just wasn't their night, they want a shot clock. I guess they think that would have made a difference. Let's assume we put shot clock in for next year and the same two teams meet in the state championship. Once again, Gleason wins but this time by 100pts. I would bet the same OS fans that think a shot clock is a great idea this year would be on here saying it was the stupiest thing TSSAA ever done. What I disagree with the most is the fact this thread started after the game on Saturday. Several OS fans, regardless if you are one of them or not, has stated we need a shot clock. Why? because in my opinion, they believe if they had a shot clock on Saturday they would have won. Also, it's my opinon, that if you take the same situation and OS could have caused some turnovers or stole the ball and won the game even by 1pt this thread wouldn't even be a topic. I disagree with a shot clock, but I promises you I don't disagree with a shot clock near as much as I do using it for an excuse. Since obviously you believe there should be a shot clock let me ask you a question. You are in a game and leading by 2pts, there is 38 secs left in the game, and there is NO shot clock. Are going to hold the ball for 38secs and win the game or would you shoot the ball at the 30 sec mark and give the other team a chance to tie or even win the game? You, OS fans, and OS players would hold the ball to win the game. Bottom line this whole thread is nothing more then a poor excuse for losing a game and not having defense that could do anything about it..... The real problem is a bad defense being dominated by a good offense strategy. The excuse is no shot clock. TSSAA has annouced there will be no shot clock.... Guess teams better work on their defense or just stink it up. I have to give some credit to Gleason. I really believe instead them winning by 25 or 28pts like they did in the first two games, they were just trying to pass the ball around and keep the game close, so OS would like they actually deserved to be in a title game with Gleason.. I guess it was a bad decission they should have just blowed them out like they did Forest & Jackson Co.
  5. I disagree with a shot clock. The team that wins the game should be the team that comes in fundamentaley sound, works hard, and has the best strategy. If you have a shot clock it will make teams start throwing the ball at the basket and as the old saying goes, "even a blind squirrel can find a nut." I would say step up the defense, get out of the zone, and get in somebody's face. A lot of people that witnessed the Championship game on Saturday said Gleason stalled the ball. I myself, would call it very good time managment. When Gleason was on defense where were they, in the face of the offense. Bottom line, step up the defense, and get in the face of the offense and I bet you will see turnovers or shots at the basket in under a min. Now, I will agree, that high scoring games are more fun to watch and a shot clock would probably generate higher scores. Entertainment for the fans is a benefit of the game, but the object is to win. I have seen comments where people said the game was boring. I suppose the girls could have said OMG the fans find this boring. Lets start throwing the ball up at the basket every 30 secs and keep them happy win or lose. I think not, their goal was to win and believe it or not the Gleason fans found it very entertaining. It's always fun watching our girls take a defense to school. Save TSSAA some money and learn to play better defense.
  6. Send it to: Gold Ball 1992, 1999, 2007 State Championship Drive, Gleason Tn. 38229. But, you may want to save the money to buy toilet paper and wipe all the crap coming from your mouth.
  7. Hooters, please give me your address I will send you the buck fifty for the gold paint.
  8. Just one added Note, h I just listened to the replay of the game on the radio. Gleason still won the Gold ball, Kayla Hudson Still Got Miss Basketball, Kayla Hudson still MVP, Kayla, Candace, & Jenna still on the all tournament team, and our cheerleaders got Spirit Award. Well that's about it. No wait, I'm sorry, I left something out. OS your ball is still SILVER. But, if you keep crying about our style of ball I'm it will be a tarnish Silver before long. PS. For a buck fifty U can buy a can of Gold Paint at Wal-Mart if it will make you feel any better.
  9. Give me a break.. all I keep reading are comments like, gleason plays Stall Ball, Gleason plays keep away, Gleason plays Monkey in the Middle, and Gleason can't play defense. News Flash: If Gleason has ball in hand that puts them on offense and the monkey in the middle is on defense. Now, wouldn't that mean if OS could play defense they would steal the ball, trap the offense, or do something to cause a turnover? Maybe the comment should be Gleason beat OS and played very little defense because they dominated on offense. Maybe the reason they dominated on offense was because they were in better shape. Gleason holds their opponents to 86 pts while scoring 143pts. Now lets do some basic math well at least it is in west tn. It might be a little more difficult for those on the other side of the state. Gleason plays three games for a total of 96min. Gleason 143pts+opponents 86pts=229total pts. 229pts/96min= 2.38pts per min. Now lets assume that half those total minutes are offense. That would mean Gleason scored 143pts/48=2.979 round up 3pts per minute. Stall Ball? I didn't even calculate % of shots missed from the field. Oh wait, we played stall ball. But, even when you look at total pts and total min just how long on average could Gleason have actually stalled the ball? Well I have that answer. It's really very basic, I think even those OS fans can figure this one. OS on defense / Gleason stalling the ball = just long enough to listen to you CRY!!!! GAME OVER Figure this one, stop crying before you tarnish the silver on your ball it's not GOLD like ours.
  10. Call it whatever you want. Obviously the strategy Coach Frazier and the team chose won the gold ball. Just exactly, what is your point. That you should always take 2nd best and not play your best strategy. In all my years of baseball and football my coach always had a plan (strategy) sometimes it worked and sometimes we came up short. Gleason had a plan, they executed their plan, and won the gold ball. Once again, people are throwing excuses out like stalling the ball. They didn't break any rules and they did nothing wrong. Instead of making excuses for OS losing, why not just admit the facts. Gleason played the game, executed their plan, and dominated the 07 State Tournament.
  11. As of March 10th 2007, there was no shot clock in high school basketball. So, stop using that for an excuse. Gleason played by the rules and won the game. Call it stall ball, monkey in the middle, or whatever you choose. Why would any team come out fouling in the fourth quarter with the game that close? Why would anybody want to put a team like Gleason on the foul line? Wait, there is another thought, why don't we take the foul line away when we add the shot clock. The bottom line, the girls work hard to learn all the foundamentals of basketball even how to draw a foul. They went to the boro and dominated this year. People always want the rules to go in their favor and maybe some day the rules will change. But, until they do learn how to play better defense and maybe you want end up "the monkey"... Congrats!!! Lady Dawgs and Miss Basketball...
  12. She didn't play basketball? She had 29 points....... As far as being on her knees. Well if OS hadn't mistaken this for the football championship maybe she wouldn't have been knocked to the floor so much..
  13. Strength rankings are worthless stats... "Oliver Springs might be more battle tested having played some of the best AAA, AA and A teams this year". I keep reading how all these teams have played some of the best AAA & AA teams this year. If that is truely the case and strength rankings are worth the time it takes to figure them, then our girls came out on the short end of the stick. We should have brought home three gold balls. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  14. I haven't posted anything but I have kept up with most of the posts regarding the Lady Dawgs and Coach Frazier. I'm not getting into stats and I refuse to even comment about some of the nonsense people post on here. But, I will point out a few facts. Gleason always has a competive team and Coach Frazier seems to always get the best out of his girls. They have two gold balls, one silver, and they will add another one Saturday. This team seems to be more focused then any team I have seen come out of Gleason. They have completely dominated their opponents since the sub-state. Holding their opponents in the last three games to a total of 69 points and somebody mentions defense? Gleason has completely dominated the tournament so far. Stop Hudson? who & when? There will be one more chance Saturday to stop her but I don't see it happening. Go Dawgs don't hold back anything. Bring the Gold ball to Gleason, Miss basketbll, and might as well grab MVP while you're there.. " You Can't Guard Her" and if you can well never mind, You can't!!! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Our Forecast is 100% SHINE!!!!...Good Luck Riley
  15. Myself and partner in crime would like to congratulate all the Lady Dawgs on a great WIN.
  16. Gleason played some good ball. The defense was a little off in the first half but they stepped up in the second half. Several of the players made some key plays tonight. I thought Hudson had a great game tonight. All around good team ball. But, if I had to pick a player of the game I would have to go with Meagan. They left her wide open a few times from three point land and they paid the PRICE. She had a good game on the inside. Overall it was a great team effort. Good luck against Dresden. Once again GREAT game to Meagan Price and the other lady dawgs.
  17. bigwes68: I think I understand the post by basketballplayer44. Brandon was injured because the officials allowed the game to get out of control. An officials' job is to control the game, not change the outcome. If the officials do indeed go to referee camp, they need to get new instructors because the officiating this year in our region has been horrible. Not just one game, ALL GAMES!
  18. Seems like the outcome of most games focus around the referrees. But, you can trust me that Gleason hasn't got the calls this year. The referrees are some of the worst I have seen in a long time. I hope they improve before the regionals. If not the bulldogs will be playing against 8 like they have most of the year. I believe Gleason is ready for the regionals. Great Team effort beating South Fulton. One player I most mention is Riley. This is a 8th grader playing some great ball. She has alot to look forward too. Treanton she may "Shine" your floor like she did S.Fulton
  19. Vandy03 - Since you are not a former Gleason player. But, your sister does play for those bulldogs then I know who you are. Your sister is a Great defensive player not to mention a very special person. I have a lot of respect for her game. She works hard to make things happen on the court. Hope to see you at the regionals or better yet the STATE- GO DAWGS
  20. Seems that Vandy03 knows a little something about the game. That's exactly what happen. Most of the game they packed the lanes leaving the perimeters open. Seems that is a weakness of Huntingdon since they only hit 1/20 from 3 point range. I agree totally with gaining knowledge. I would much rather go into the tournaments with added knowledge than ranked # 1. Poles mean absolutely nothing. So, the question remains to be answered. Are the Red Devils and Fillies that good or were the dawgs going to school? Before South Fulton, Huntingdon and Trenton's heads swell too big maybe we should get through the tournaments. Former Gleason Player? Is Vandy03 going to make it to the last home game of the season?
  21. Any fan that would cheer while a player is hurt on the floor has no morals, no compassion for children, and no respect for humans. This person should be banned from attending any game. There are only two ways to explain the actions of this so called "fan". Either she thought she was attending a wrestling match or she is just ignorant. Was the game a fluke? Gleason got beat... Even a Dawg can have a bad day (game). Gleason had several good teams in the past. One of their better years they finished the season 33-3. They had a good team that year but they lost three games. The 33rd win came with a GOLD BALL. My point is the 3 games they lost didn't really matter. Just like the South Fulton game. IT JUST DON'T MATTER...
