  4. Coaches and fans, the Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee Fall Clinic is back and will feature another great line-up of speakers. This has been and will continue to be the best coaches clinic anywhere. This year it will feature Women's coaches: Mike Neighbors, Jeff Walz, and Vic Schaefer who have multiple Final 4 appearances. Kellie Harper of the Lady Vols. On the Men's side, Kermit Davis of Ole Miss, Lennie Acuff of Lipscomb, and Drew Hanlen of Pure Sweat Basketball and trainer to many NBA players. The best feature this year however will be that Coach Steve Forbes of ETSU, Bart Brooks of Belmont and Nick McDevitt of MTSU will bring their teams to the clinic for team workout sessions. This will be a truly unique experience to see 3 coaches working with their respective teams all under the same roof. Another great part of the clinic is that a TSSAA rules meeting will be held on the 28th. Also, Dr. Dish will give away $7,500 new shooting machine on September 27th. Below is the schedule also you can go to www.bcathoops.com to register. 6. The BCAT is not nor will ever take the place of the Jerry Peters classic, they made that clear from the start. The event the BCAT is putting on is an NCAA live recruiting weekend for high school events only. The dates aren’t set by BCAT they are set by the NCAA, they must be the last 2 weekends of June and must be supervised by the BCAT. These are the rules set nationwide. The teams made the choice of playing those days so that would be on the coaches. Personally, if I were coaching or had a child who was a college level player I would wonder why my HS team at the BCAT event.
  7. They also have Science Hill. Some teams in East had committed originally but backed out. Part of the issue is the weekend, the dead period starts on the 23rd, the schedule is set by the NCAA not by the BCAT. They put them on the last 2 weekends of June nation wide. Being honest most high school coaches don’t realize how the recruiting has changed in men’s basketball even though the BCAT did a great job of trying to inform the state coaches. Both weekends June 21-23 and 28-30 are ‘live recruiting ‘ meaning it is open for D-1,2,3 coaches to be at the events. AAU has 1or 2 weekend in April and 1 in July. The HS coaches are now much more involved in the recruiting process.
  8. Cookeville is political funny duck place, very little tradition to meet parental expectations. But please, please explain how the game has passed Coach Bray by?
  9. Probably a typo since they are in the Memphis area, but doesn’t matter. This will be the best event in a long time for HS boy’s basketball in Tennessee. Live recruiting for that weekend for D-1,2, and 3. Absolutely loaded with prospects!
  10. There was a few reasons he wasn’t successful in Sparta while the coach not just ‘style’ of coaching, but that ‘style’ won at a high % for a long time. His son is very talented player, just finished his sophomore year averaged close to 20 ppg and can really get off the floor at about 6’4-5. Has a chance to be very good.
  11. Had 4 state tournament teams at Perry County, including a 37-0 season in 1997. Has won over 500 games in 22 years as a HC. He hasn’t coached in at least 2 years. He has told many he will not coach again, he works hard with the BCAT and helps put together the best coaching clinic in America every Fall here in Tennessee. If any school could get him it would be a great hire, but don’t see it happening from what I am told.
  12. Which Grace are you talking about? there are a bunch.

  15. I believe you are wrong on the number of high schools per state. Tennessee has less than 400 that are TSSAA members. Alabama has around 450.
  16. Actually $20 per year and will never be higher. The membership makes players of members coaches eligible for the games, unsigned senior workouts, scholarships, they have recently partnered with PGC Basketball for free instructional videos, among several other things. Not to mention the best clinic in the nation almost every year.
  17. That doesn't mean he is a BCAT member this year, it runs yearly. Also her coach may not have nominated her.
  18. Coach must be a member of the player must be a member of BCAT. Most coaches are, they do a lot for coaches and players including the best clinic anywhere, scholarships, etc. if she is not in her coach is probably not a member
  19. Tells me soccer is more important than girls basketball..,,,.... just kidding!
  20. Would still surprise me that they put any emphasis at all on it even though Olive is there. If it is now a priority, then go get a more proven coach.
  21. There has been nor will there be any evaluations by the coaches. The TSSAA nor the supervisors want the involvement of the coaches or schools. It has been proposed several times and is always shot down for whatever reason. Tennessee is one of the only states that has NO evaluations of officials by coaches or schools. What happened at the end of the Upperman/Macon game was awful, the call was bad but the no call that should have been multiple technicals on the Upperman coach was even worse. There will never be consistency because the TSSAA doesn't want there to be any collaboration between the officials and coaches to make the game better for all involved.
  22. True, but she won't have to deal with all the assistant coaches at MC any more because at Tullahoma girls basketball is maybe the 5th most important sport in the school, and that's a big maybe!
  23. If she leaves to go to Tullahoma, that should tell you a lot about MC. Leaving for a perennially weak program that is always at the bottom of their district to get out of MC.
