  1. Well.... have not posted in a while... Barry and Chris should hang their head... they cheated us out of a good ball game... GQ doesn't need help
  2. LC 27 WB 34 Close guess dragon.. Change 2# and you nailed it.. WB has a rough two weeks in front of them.. LC has to go to Farragut next.. WB to Maryville then Farragut.. tpoole12
  3. Strongx I wrote a long reply about 5pm. I read it, deleted it because I thought it to harsh. I'm glad the Govs won but.....I listened to the ball game and.... I FOUND A RE OCCURING PATTERN THAT I HAVE NOTICED FOR 3 YEARS.. WE DON'T NEED TO CHANGE THE COACH, WE NEED THE COACH TO CHANGE... ENOUGH ALREADY... RUNNING THE BALL TILL YOU HAVE TO THROW IT IS NOT A GOOD GAME PLAN.. IT DID WIN THIS GAME..BUT IT WILL LOSE MANY MORE THAN IT WINS....my $.02 worth CONGRATS TO THE GOVS tpoole12
  4. Lenoir City makes the trip across Fort Loudon Dam to play the Govenors. Lenoir City has had the upper hand since the beginning of this annual contest. Coach Wilhite, I believe, has been a factor the last two years but has left LC to coach at Catholic. Has that hurt the defense at LC? LC's has been productive in the spread when they can contain the pass rush. Can WB rush and cover well enough to stop the spread? William Blount has played well and poorly on both sides of the ball at times. (sometimes in the same game) Coach Gregory tends to play things on the conservitive side. In last years loss WB controled the clock, outgained LC in rushing and passing, had more first downs and still lost the game. What steps should WB take to prevent a simular outcome this year? Hopefully this will give us something to talk about..... tpoole12
  5. I'm not sure if I want to make a prediction.. Looks like the game my be played with a wet ball.. WB has been subject to turnovers.. A few turnovers can swing the game.. That being said... If WB takes care of the ball they win but the Mountaineers will be up for this one.. I'm sure last weeks game will be a big motivator.. I hope both teams can play injury free..... tpoole12
  6. My $.02 worth.. Alcoa is young... May be down a little this year.. Will be much better next year.. Well Coached... Maryville just reloads.. GQ and staff adjusts to the strengths of the players.. Won't miss a beat as long as GQ and staff are in place.. William Blount has played well and poorly this year.. Sometimes in the same game.. Not a fan of Gregory's system but he has brought a little stability.. I wish he and the Govs the best... Heritage has struggled for a long time.. Hope they can turn it around.. As for the peewee situation.. I agree with GovMan.. Can't see him pulling anything bush league.. The bottom line is when the ball is marked for play and the whistle blows.... The defense had better be ready to play! The blame may lay with the opposing coach..... tpoole12
  7. jake You were right about Catholic/Webb... Catholic was never in the game... The little running back from Webb ran down hill all night.. As far as Scot's situation.. In an interview on sports talk after talking the Catholic job he was asked what the exspectations were. He laughed and said he was told to "not to lose to Webb".. Thats not worked out well for him.. tpoole12

  11. Not sure what to say about this one. Heritage is coming off a tough loss to Maryville. WB is coming off a win at Catholic. I'm sure this one means a little more to each team due to proximity. If I had to pick a favorite I'd say WB. They look good at times but they must stop the turnovers and quit giving up the big plays. I haven't seen Heritage play this year. Like the description says.... Lets talk about it.... tpoole12
  12. Hello All Just wanted to congratulate William Blount's players, coaches and fans for their victory over the Irish. Most are aware of the recent history of the WB program and some of the Irish coaching staff and I'm sure this sweet for many. I didn't attend this game. I had planned to but job related difficulties dictated otherwise. However, I did get to listen to the game. William Blount played very well. They missed on alot of scoring opportunities that almost cost them the game. Catholic had their chances also, played hard the second half and was knocking on the door till the QB sack and fumble with time running out. OK... I said all that to say this.. Wiiam Blount can still have a good season in spite of their record at this point. They have some good atheletes. The playoffs are reachable but, the turnovers must stop. The defense looks great at times but has a tendency to give up big plays. On the other side of the ball there seems to be a bit more creativity... ie: "throw the dang ball when the defense loads up the box".. Not sure where that change came from but if it had came a couple of years earlier Gregory's record wouldn't be 8 and 17 as head coach. As for Catholic... I'm not sure Meadows and company can survive at Catholic if they drop the next game. That game will be Thursday and this is the game of the year for many of the Irish faithful. I know I will be tuned in. I wish Scott and Ritchie the best but they will have to have their players ready to play four quarters if they hope to win. Good luck to both teams the rest of the way tpoole12
  13. slamminsammy I'm not sure he got that many touches.. Big mistake by Central's coaching staff...The kid is a great athelete.. Very fast.. Everytime he gets the ball he is dangerouse, not impressed when he's blocking.. Alot of the QB sacks by WB came right over his missed blocks on the back side.. Good job by WB's coaches keeping the ball away from Blanc.. Glad to see the Govs get the win.. IMO... This ball game was won in the off season.. Early in the game I saw alot of Central players with their hands on their hips, sucking air.. William Blount looked to be better conditioned.. Good luck to Central the rest of the way.. tpoole12 PS: Not sure who Centrals # 24 is but the kid doesn't quit.. He chased down a pretty fast kid to prevent a touchdown at the end of the game.. Played hard and ran good routes all night.. Kid's got heart!
  14. Sorry Red Rebels I won't pick at you anymore. I may well have you confused with someeone else. In any case, come on down tonight. I hope it will be a good game. Anytime any high school lights are on, it's the right place to be! As for tomorrow night's game.. I hope both teams play their best and get out without any injuries. I know to many people on each side to pick a favorite... tpoole12
  15. Hey Central fans... Like GovMan said... Give us something to talk about.. SlammingSammy feels good about his prediction.. I think Cody Blanc will be a big factor in this game.. I believe I would try to get him more than five touch's if I were play calling for Central.. On the other hand if I was on the WB side, I would to limit his touch's where I could. The big thing for WB is not let him get the ball out in "air".. Good atheletes, "out in air", will make you pay.. Here's my take.. Both teams will have success running the ball.. The team that ends up the most balanced attack after three quarters will win the game.. Most of the time the fourth quarter stats are skewed due to the fact that team with the lead will be trying to run the ball and thus the clock.. The team that is trailing is forced to open up the offense to get back in the game.. Well ... that's my $.02 worth... Good Luck Govs tpoole12 PS: Those jerseys in the 80's must have been reeeeeaaaaaallllllyyy big!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. You sure that you can still get that jersey on??? There is alot more of you than there used to be....
  17. Hello All I too am a fair weather fan GovMan. Even more than you. I was at work anticipating trip to SC but we have live doppler and I was 99% sure of what was going to happen. Decided to come home and listen to some games on the radio. Wish I had went to the Greenback game but hindsight is 20/20. I plan on being at WB/Central. I agree that the defense needs to tighten up their pass coverage. I'm sure the coaches / players will spend some time this week on this area. I hope some time will be spent on the "verticle" passing game... tpoole12 Side Note : For all those people who have PM'd me wanting to know if I am the good running back from UT, I'm sorry to say that I am not. I'm a fifty two year old, bald guy who will only run if something is chasing me. I'm sure some of my ole friends will get a giggle out of this! Good Luck Govs
  18. I'd say your right! Can't argue with results! tpoole12
  19. Good Luck TO The Gov's! tpoole12 PS: Seems like I remember "SCBear" was a good source in the past. You out there SC?
  20. My .02 $ worth! If I was a high school coach in a perfect world, (plenty of depth) I would want two complete line units, line backers, premier running back and quarter back that play one way. My receivers/db's would be one in the same and I would hope to have enough of them to rotate frequently. I would use my o-line some to spell my d-line in long drive and short yardage situations. On special teams, speed would be the determining factor on who plays but wouldn't risk my qb or top rb. If I was lucky enough to have a good kicker and punter I wouldn't take risks of injuring them. tpoole12 PS: I think most coaches would prefer this but lack of depth or talent could dictate other actions.
