  1. We missed our chance.... Should have called this thread greyrider vs bladerunner.. The battle of atomic city.... Oak Ridge has struggled this year... I don't exspect things to get better for the Cats this week.... Still its a nice setting for the game... Hope someone will muzzle the dang barking dog behind the visitors stands... Been a long time since I was over that way... He may have gotton used to it or died of old age by now.... tpoole12
  2. Relating to an earlier post... Although Cline is a great athelete and may have 200 yds in this game I don't see 3 tds in this game.. Hartley can throw the ball well but seems to lock in on certain receivers and force the throws. I attended the SD and LC games and saw many receivers running open that Hartley never even looked that way. I admit at times pressure forced him to throw earlier than he would have liked but still he doesn't seem to be able to see the field. I'm sure if he was taller it would help but you have to play with the body the God gave you....... Against Catholic William Blount moved the ball well but did not finish drives. They stopped themselves more often than the opposing defense. The Govs cannot afford to turn over the ball and must limit penalties. Their defense played well last game in that they were in position to make plays but failed to make them. If I were coaching Heritage I would try to get Cline the ball out in space. I would try to move the pocket for Hartley so he could get a better look down field. Likewise if I was coaching WB I would try to control the ball and the clock. Pound the rock as they say. If Heritage loads the box on defense I would try to get it out on the edge and go over the top every now then to keep the defense honest. This should be a good game. Most of the players from both teams know each other and many have played with or against each other since they were children. Both teams will bring their best and the team that catches the most breaks early will likely win. I hope both teams get through this game injury free and wish them well the rest of the year but for this game............................. GO GOVS tpoole12
  3. Okay Willieb I've got this one... The anuual meeting of Heritage and William Blount. The Battle for the Bell. I'll be pulling for the Govs but there are many players on the Heritage team that came through while I was involved in rec football. I wish them well but still want the Gov's to win........ Thought's or predictions welcome. GO GOVS
  4. "that's funny right there.... I don't care who you are.... that's funny" *Larry the Cable Guy....
  5. Dang HappyHour22 You must have stayed up late or got up early from the time of your post. Just how long does a Catholic happy hour last anyway? Regarding the rest of your post... I don't know if you went to the game but I didn't notice Catholic having blazing team or individual speed. Looked fairly even to me. So Catholic is also a "slow" team I guess... The first Irish touchdown... should have been at least an interception and could have possibly been a pick six the other way. It might have taken a while for the poor ole "slow" WB to have run that far but I didn't see any burners from Catholic. WB moved the ball effectively against the Catholic defense twice losing the ball inside the ten. Match that against your first score and that could have been a twenty one point swing. I've heard that "if if's and but's where fruits and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas", still I think you should consider the Irish "Lucky" ( pun?????) to get out with a win. As I said earlier "Good Job Irish". They won the game but even the very biased radio crew who covers Catholic's games weekly stated the score was not indicative of the game. Good luck the rest of the way.... tpoole12 PS: Did you stay up late or get up real early? There's usually nothing good happens after midnight you know. Further more if I have to get real early posting on coacht is not one my priorities...........
  6. Well Govs This one was on you all. Coach Gregory and staff called a good game. (I still wish someone would draw up a slant, skinny post, and a flag pattern.) Defense played well enough to win but still missed alot of tackles. When you make two trips inside the ten and turn the ball over that is an execution error on the offense. Good job Irish. You got out of here with a win is what matters but I saw alot of things I'm sure Coach Meadows will discuss in detail next week. Govs.... Keep your chins up, go back to work Monday but remember that you let this one get away from you... Learn and grow from it............... tpoole12 GO GOVS PS: Coach Dad It was good to see you. I wish you well.....
  7. Here's my take on this game... WB must play well on defense. It will be tough if they must score evertime they have the ball. Catholic runs a spread hybrid but Meadows was a old wing coach for many years and though he changed his scheme in 2007 he still likes to run the ball. He is a good play caller and will try to formation you to get the matchups he wants. WB played well last year in spite of losing players for " off the field issues " the week of the game. They played close for three quarters on a mucky field. (Sprinkler Malfunction???) Well I'll leave it at that... As stated earlier, for WB to win they must first play solid defense. Second they must take what the defense gives them. In every game to this point opposing defenses have loaded the box much like Bearden did in the second half last year. I'm afraid that is what WB will continue to see till they prove they are willing and able to take what the defense gives. Third and fourth are penalties and turnovers. Limit ours and take advantage of theirs.............. Good luck GOVS.... I'll be pulling for you......................... tpoole12 PS: WB fans... Show some some class tonight.. It angered me the way Meadows cut and run on us last year. Still in the big picture you can't blame him for taking a higher paying job in a well established program. I'm sure there are many like me who like their job and the people they work with but still if you "show me the money" Id be out of there... PS:PS: DON'T GET ME WRONG.... IT WOULD TICKLE THE "SNOT" OUT OF ME TO SEND HIM HOME WITH A lOSS.... GO GOVS
  8. starz Ewe are 100% accurate as far as Eye can sea. Eye wheel bee their and Eye'm shore that awl the Blunt County faithfull wheel bee pullin fer the Govs. tea poole won too

  11. Why heck yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (board edit) Good job Govs!!!!!!! I wasn't at the game. I listened on the radio at the Alcoa game. GOOD JOB PLAYERS. DON'T EVER QUIT! Twelve down and comeback....Kid's have got character.. When the right desisions are made WB will win!!! Nuff Said!!!! tpoole12 PS : If there is not a Catholic thread started by tomorrow I'm going to pull some people's fan cards! You know who you all are!
  12. If I had known I'd live this long I'd have taken better care of myself.....
  13. William Blount is comming off a tough game with Bearden. Jefferson County went to Sevier and came back with a big win. Sevier beat William Blount in week zero. Logic would say Jefferson County will win but its all about match ups and schemes. Jump in and give us your two cents worth............. I'll be pulling for the Govs........ tpoole12
  14. Thanks for the update. I remember the names now that I see them. I wish them well... tpoole12
  15. Red Rebels I usually go down 411 and sight see during the daylight hours. The return trip is back up I-75 to better facilitate my dinner plans..... tpoole12
  16. I beg to differ.... Go half the way to Soddy Daisy and it will be on your left.. Great venue, good people, great visitor facilities. You get your own stands, restrooms and concessions but it is a long walk from the parking area to the visitors side. I don't know if they still have the horse. Seems like it was a little app/filly but I'm sure ole "TribeFan" could tell us more. I don't know anything about the team this year but they usually have a "McDermit", (spelling???) who is a pretty good athelete. There has been one all the time that my daughter and son was involved in old region 2 5a. ( kinda like WB had with the "Walker" boys for so many years) I'll be cheering for the Rebels tpoole12
  17. Well as any man can say thats been married more than once...... "I've been wrong before" tpoole12
  18. Sorry I turned it backwards but I've seen it work both ways.. The main thing is you must taylor your scheme to players.... I'm sure we will talk on next weeks thread. Enjoy the win... tpoole12
  19. Got to say I didn't see this one coming.......... Good game Trojans..... tpoole12
  20. Wasn't at this game but stayed in touch.. Bulldog's offense had another big game.. Good Game Bearden... Gov's.... Keep your chins up.. Work hard.. Good things will happen... tpoole12
  21. Good Ballgame Didn't go Heritage's way.. Both teams played well enough to win but made enough mistakes to lose.... LC got on top first and HHS rallied but came up short.. Scoot I keep hearing more names that brings back memories..... Hope Cline's okay. He's a tough kid !!! tpoole12
  22. ML Don't make me get the "Team Mom" after you......... Good Game Maryville... Beat McMinn !!! tpoole12
  23. I agree you need the right personel to run the spread but you need the right personel to run the veer also... It sure is ugly to force a veer scheme on a spread team.............. It appears that Jefferson County has the type of players to make it work. tpoole12
  24. Thanks BHO Thats some good advise..... I guess I could change name to "BigHairyGov" but everyone thats seen my head would would know better.... tpoole12
