  1. I was only trying to help coach out. No one said anything in his defense.
  2. Look at the first team. Analyse the last two players of Estep and Whaley. They are within the area. Favorites? There might be some bias in the Press' decision. Look at the second team. There are four post players and only one guard. What's wrong with this picture?
  3. This just in. OldDoc08, why do you keep asking about this incident. I scuffled over some old notes and found the Tennessee High vs. Science Hill game. You have not asked about Dale Burns and his incident with the officials after the Science Hill loss where he went into there dressing room and blasted them. He did not receive suspension.
  4. OldDoc08. The coach did not burst through the door. He was there before the refs got there, and said some explicits to two of the refs. He never threatened any ref with physical assault. Now ask those two refs what they did after the game for the coach to say what he said to them. And they were not suspended either, even after their actions.
  5. Hey Art, this is one of the guys from the media. The incident was after the Central game. No the coach did not attack the refs. And if you watched the same game everyone else did, you would see a concrete discrepency with one particular ref. At one juncture the ref vigorously overturned another refs call who had the better view. Then proceedingly called 4-5 calls against Volunteer while calling a tech on the coach for jumping, something other coaches have done all season and not received any technicals. While being a journalist and keeping my ears open, even other Watauga Conference coaches said some of a particular ref's calls were pretty obvious. One last note. I don't think in our interview or any other that night, the coach blamed the refs. Instead, he blamed himself for the loss.
  6. Hey Shotcaller! Right back atcha' CoachT Obituary The Sullivan Central Basketball Thread died today following a short ilness. It was preceded in death by the football thread, one baseball thread, and a younger brother, the 2002-2003 basketball thread. The viewing of the body continues as a few line up on CoachT. The thread will be missed by none. Charitable contributions can be made to the Volunterr Falcon thread in it's old age. Congrats to the Cougars on a good year, and to the Central fans, although not always pretty, for your undeniable support of your team.
  7. Hey! I just thought of this!!! Why don't we just say the top team in each conference move to play in the finals and everyone else stay home. You don't want a team that placed in last to make it either. How does that sound to everyone? This thread is awful for suggesting it. And if Oakland can't beat a 2-3 playoff team, then they don't deserve to go either - do they?
  8. My opinion is if Brainard, who was the #1 seed, couldn't beat Rhea County, then they don't deserve to be in the final eight. You can look at things in many ways. But you must admit some conferences are FAR more competitive than others. Many teams in last place in one conference would be first in others. THAT's LIFE! So to say that it is wrong for a team to be 3-3 in the state finals is not right. Evidently the #4 seed of one conference was better than the #1 seed of another. WIN and move on, or LOSE and go home.
  9. CHHS72, My comment was for Libertyfan. He said that TSSAA should step in and make standard for district. You put your 1 penny's worth of words on here and don't know what you're talking about on my statement. Yes I am being sarcastic at Libertyfan. TSSAA already controls too moch where money is involved but will not step up when associations have complaints or needs to regulate something. My comments were to make it known that the regular season is important as the playoffs, so playing for something is better than knowing there is only 1 format that will be accepted. So when you butt-in again know what you're talking about. I was actually supporting your "WACKY" conference. Libertyfan, I think you are smarter than your comment of how the other levels, region, etc., are "conducted in one particular way." The reason there is no particular way, you have conferences with 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 teams. You tell me how TSSAA is supposed to regulate a standard in every conference with such diversity? Teams within certain conferences are competitive from first to last, while others have only one or two teams that make it every year. Why not reward teams for regular season play? Look at it from another view. Why not give a team that may have had a bad regular season but does good in the playoffs a chance? Someone made the comment of how Pigeon Forge won three games to reach the regional. If they had to play the 1st place team the first round, maybe they would never had had any success. The point is.......no way of doing things will be fair unless you have the equal number of teams in every conference. Only then can you have a "fair bracket".
  10. Libertyfan, How can TSSAA make everyone play games out without a bye on odd number conferences? I know. Let's makes an exception rule for those districts. Also, let's not make it competitive to play for something during the regular season. Oh Yeah, let's make it manditory that all kids get equal playing time during the season so we can make parents happy. Hmmmm.....let's take the team logos off the uniforms and replace them with the TSSAA logo for everyone, of course at their own cost and commission fee to use the licensed trademark. Let's not reward any team for competitive play during the regular season. Oh no!!!! That will bring down revenue during the season since there's nothing to play for. Forget what was thought. We need to make money!!!!!
  11. The "will" to win is the same as success. This country was founded on the "will". So, what kind of question is this?
  12. FalconFan84......Read satchum's quote and take Lindholm's avenue. The player did not say anything about the coach's actions. Why should you? You are either a fan of Lindholm's or a parent. Nobody else would care enough to put it on display here.
