  1. Sorry wareagle, just because it's a rule, doesn't make it right, or fair. The Powell gym was big enough to host losts of big games this year, and it's big enough to hold this one. The TSSAA does lots of stupid things, and has lots of stupid rules, add this one to the list. I hope they (TSSAA) have the integrity to let Powell make arrangements locally to re-site the game, so their fans have to travel very little, but somehow I'm betting they'll get even more ridiculous on this one before it's over. What a shame.
  2. Great job again by the ladies from OS. Should be a great final in this region. What do you like better, in a big game, advantage at the guard position, or at the post?
  3. Don't hold your breath papa, The bearettes have gone into hibernation!
  4. I just re-read this whole thread, and I must say alot of you have been made to look very foolish. Congrats to the lady panthers. I believe that your character as people is the most important factor in where you are now. Believe in that, and you will not be beaten again this year.
  5. Sorry Goosevol, You can stick up for that garbage all you want, but you know, and I know there is alot wrong with Kingston athletics. First of all, this district is blessed with some pretty good coaches, who are also pretty good guys. The fact they didn't object shows their class. The fact that Kingston "firmly" requested it (put it in the tourney rule sheet) shows the way they do things. It sets a bad precident for other sports. In baseball for example, should the host team make a similar request, should it also be honored, since we do it in basketball? Then the final at bat, which is an advantage is given to the host school regardless of whether they earned it during the season. I have also seen many basketball tourneys where the host school, has NOT retained the home court status, so lets get off that tired horse. As far as the MVP, the semi-final pales in comparison to the final in the MVP chioce. I have been around a long time, and seen lots of tournaments, in lots of different sports, and it is only the very, very rare case when the MVP comes from the non-champion team, and then, only in the case of an exceptional performance that clearly stands above the rest. Sitzlar's was not. The sad thing is that this is an honor that would have meant alot and been helpful to the senior Wally Lowery, and he is deprived because of local petty politics. I'm embarrassed for this decision, and for you Goosevol for sticking up for it. Why don't you also address the roping off of the end stands during the boys consolation game for me, or maybe that was covered in the pre-tourney meeting too.
  6. Sorry sgocougas, I know coach Wallace, and that is just not true. Either your sources are lying, or you are.
  7. Michael is a junior this year. The starting lineup changes often at AC, and Michael has started many games. Part of coach E's philosophy seems to be to de-emphasize the importance of starting, and stress that the first 9 to 10 players are equally as important, regardless of who goes on the floor to start the game off. You must keep in mind that Michael's dad and coach E are both from Livingston, and grew up together. The respect for coach E's approach to coaching, and over-all philosophy on basketball were the reason he went to AC. Fear of playing time at Clinton never even entered the equation, so let's put that baby to bed. I know Michael is very happy at AC, on the court and in the classroom, where he maintains his 4.0, and he is very well liked by his classmates.
  8. They recruit nobody! Kids from Cambell County often try to move and come to AC to be part of such a great program. The only thing AC is guilty of is not turning these kids away when they re-zone themselves, and seek the excellence they see at AC.
  9. Michael Mott is also number 1 with AC as they also just won their district, regular season, and tourney, like Clinton. He fits much better into AC's system than Clinton's, infact he is nothing like most of the Clinton kids. He made a wise choice in going to AC where he is both valuable and appreciated.
  10. No doubt about it the AC program is pure class, but that is not the point here, and Kingston needs to clean it's house!
  11. Arnwine, I have to tell you, I tried to talk with people from Kingston about who was on the selection committee after the game, and was told by everyone, including their head coach, that they didn't know who they were. Finally after the assistant principal walked with me to the coaches, they said they (the committee) had left, but they based their decision on the whole tourney, not just one game, and that it wouldn't do me any good to talk with them. I asked who the committe was made up of, and they said it was "people from the Community". I told them that it wasn't right that Wally Lowery was not the MVP, and that there could have been no objectivity in the committee. The head coaches response was "well thats one way to look at it"! This is high school sports run amuck, in Kingston. They should have had the District tourney taken from them after the AC game at their place, and yet they continue to thumb their noses at what is right and wrong. AC has beaten Kingston 3 times this year, twice at their place, and yet they still award their kids with more hardware after the tourney. 3 AC kids on the all-tourney team, 3 Kingston kids on the all-tourney team, and Sitzlar gives the MVP trophy to his son! The worst part is they all feel perfectly entitled to do so, and become indignant when anyone questions them about it. That school system is stinking up the whole town, and nobody there seems to mind the stench one bit.
  12. Great job by the ladies from OS. Total domination of the ladies from Kingston. Glad to see Ms. Hall get the MVP. After seeing what they did with the boys MVP, I'm surprised they didn't give it to Ms. Sitzlar from Kingston, after all, I see her make a free throw, that should have at least put her in the running for MVP at Kingston.
  13. The last time there was home cookin like this, Granny had the whole group of Bugtussle Clampets around the cement pond for BBQ possum feet. Wally Lowery was the MVP of this tourney plain and simple! Wally had 23 tonight, and along with Andrew Chaniott, helped to completely control the tempo of the second half for the Mavs, with his ball handling. Sitzlar didn't even have that good a game tonight as each M. Mott 3 was made while Sitz was guarding him, and he made the foul that sent Mott to the free throw line for 3 free throws, which he made. Sitz had 16 tonight and for him to be named MVP from the second place team is a complete joke. Par for the course for Kingston though. Also as the second seed Kingston should have been the visiting team, against the First seed AC, but again we were in Kingston so right and wrong doesn't apply. I noticed that the all tourney selection committee high tailed it right after the game, probably for some possum feet at the Sitzlar's, I mean Clampets!
  14. If Fersner truely has mono, then he is done for the season. He would not be allowed by any physician to compete for 5 to 6 weeks, as the exertion could be very dangerous to him.
  15. AC and Kingston will represent 4AA very well, I think along with Alcoa they will prove to be the class of the region this year.
  16. Kudos to Jody Wright of Fulton, after their 3X overtime win over Austin East last night in the district tourney. Most had left Fulton for dead after they lost their best player due to disciplinary reasons earlier in the season. Coach Wright felt like dispite the loss of talent, it would benefit his team down the road, most disagreed with him. Once again Coach Wright has proven what a great coach he is by guiding his team through this turmoil, and coming out even stronger for it, with the biggest win of the season last night against the co-champs of the district. Hats off to coach Wright.
  17. Erin, You are such a class act. I want you to know that all who have watched you play this year, and for the past several years are so proud of you. You don't need to change anything, just let your game flow naturally, don't force it. You have a tremendous team, and you are an integral part, but you don't have to shoulder the whole burden yourself, win or lose. In times where doubt creeps in, remember how good you are, and revert back to the basics. Play hard fundamental basketball, and your talent will come to the forefront on it's own. Reading your post only solidifies to me why I think you will win it all this year, and it has to do with attitude and character, which you have in abundance.
  18. Showing once again, how much better this team is now vs the early part of the season, AC beats Union County at UC. This marks the third time in the last 11 games that AC has beaten a team that they had previously lost to. Two of those teams AC lost to @ home, and has now gone on the road for wins. Congrats to the Mavs, continue to roll.
  19. It's about time for the Mavericks of Anderson County to get some love in this poll. They have won 10 of their last 11, in three of these wins AC avenged losses from earlier in the season, including a win @ Clinton. They are playing as well as just about anybody right now.
  20. Sorry, I thought the 2-AA was just a stuttering thing. My bad.
  21. Home or away, Sevier County has to solve the Brooke Johnson equation that they couldn't at Seymour. She will get her points, the question is can Sevier get theirs either from outside, or get Johnson into foul trouble, and then it's over. I see a motivated Sevier team getting hot at home from the outside, and the snowball will get rolling for them from there. SC wins by 14.
  22. Mark Eldridge at Anderson County gets my vote. Took a few lumps early this year for the sake of getting his team to buy into tempo control, but now they're sold. Completely different team since the Clinton one point loss @ home. Now it's all AA teams beware. I haven't seen him get outcoached yet this year, and he has outcoached many.
  23. 26 free throws to 9 in a physical contest is tough to figure. I wasn't there, but I know Goosevol to be pretty level headed, and coacht's reason of a team fouling intentionally, late in the game, obviously didn't happen here. I would say this foul differential, and the frustration of a game in which this happens, probably had a lot to do with the late T.
  24. I saw some kids running at the mouth after the game at Clinton on friday, but that was all. I saw alot of security present, and I thought they did a good job. I don't know if I would call the Clinton students good sports, but they didn't do anything out of the ordinary, and were certainly better behaved than some of the Clinton players!
