  1. Your bookkeeper came to the scores table in the 4th quarter. The horn did not have to blow if the refs where looking at the score keeper showing 5 fingers. US FOLKS have honor! Becasue we wanted to get you folks out of our gym as quick as possible we where ready to get the game going. No frankly, I don't know why they did not play the Star Spangled Banner, they actually had the band there to play it and the ROTC there to post the Colors. If you did not notice, the gym is in the process of being remodeled, it was started late in the summer and a lot of stuff had to be put on hold until after basketball season, including the PA system, AC and some other thing.s As for how you felt it the game, it really don't matter to us how you felt, I wish you could have felt even worse so you don't ever what to come to BTW and play. By the way we would have beat yall in a pick up game as well. You guys have a wonderful gym one of the best high school gyms I've seen when we came up there for the last two years some of the most lop sided calls where made against us, buy the same ref that ref the game tonight!! By the way tell you bookkeeper to make sure they sit at the table so they can get the call direclty from the ref and not rely on the scorekeeper to tell them who made the fouls. GET OVER IT AND PLAY BASEBALL Im sure yall are good in that also. We are just a little inner city school in the middle of the projects so we must have had to cheat to beat mighty DC and all their fans.
  2. As I stated earlier, the score board was wrong all night, if you noticed #15 got the 2nd team foul, however on the clock it showed him with two fouls where the team fouls where showing 2 and #20 had picked up BTW's 1st team foul. it was not reset so once the clock keeper realized it was posting wrong player fouls and player he stop showing it and only showed team fouls. He ever let the officials know. I admit there was one mistake made last night, DC went into 1and1 and to clock keeper told the officials that DC was in 1 and 1 but the other ref put the ball into play. That mistake was quickly corrected. As for the wrong number in the book. A young kid decided he wanted to pay respect to former BTW great Andre Allen and wear his high school number, but he did not let anyone know so when BTW got into foul trouble and had to use him he had the wrong number in the book. Yall got your tech shot for that also. I promise you BTW don't want anything like that we will not cheat you. There is to much history and honor inside those walls so regardless of what you may think or feel, BTW takes pride in themselves. Im sorry you feel BTW had to do anything to win a game other than play hard, but whatever number the refs gave is the number the book keeper wrote down.
  3. Again where are you getting your info from? Did you have a stat sheet and kept fouls on your own book? You wanted #24 to have 5 fouls, what is funny is both players you are speaking of fouled out on tech's your coach was in the refs ear all night. The techs where called by the same ref, the same one that did our game with yall last year. 15 was asking what did his teammate do but hold his hands up and got a T. 24 got a tech after 44 got called for an intentional foul and a tech for shoulder blocking BTW's 22. You got plenty of calls all night. Your big man did have fouls. If you have any problems you should have a problem with the refs they made the calls all the score keeper did was write the fouls down. Again being that I was sitting very close to the book, I saw the book keeper write down every foul the ref showed. He even showed the refs the book where not only has he maked the personal fouls but he also marked each team foul with the player that committed the foul. Again the clock is not official the book is so whatever was on the clock was not official but what was on the book was. BTW did not need to cook the books, they where winning! Your team worked really hard did a great job. I enjoyed your fans they where a good group and really came out and showed love for their team.
  4. Where are yall getting these numbers from? #15 fouled out on a tech call for trying to talk to the ref. You never saw him hit the floor again after his 5th foul. Are yall making reference to the fouls on the clock. There where wrong all night, that is why the clock keeper stop posting the player fouls. Your book keeper should have sat by the official book if they where worried about anything. What was the sham, you people are upset because you lost your regionals and had to come to Memphis. We have been to DC the last two years and got straight railroaded. Now you get on this site and try to attack the character of the people of BTW, you are shameless. Regarless what you have in your book the official book is the official book. Everytime your coach ran to the clock the official scorekeeper was able to show the officials what fouls where called and matched each with team fouls. Again what makes you think you are right, just becasue those are what you stat keepers have in their books. You got beat by 10 not by two like we did the last two season but by 10 and we missed at least 8 free throws down the stretch. Get over yourself and be proud of your team for making it this far.
  5. Are you serious!!! It don't matter if you got 10 people keeping your books if all 10 of them write the wrong things down. For some reason, your people tried to win the game at the table rather than on the floor. Being a person who sat very close to the scorekeeper I can honestly say every foul call was marked correct and every thing was done by the book. Your score keepers where giving #22's fouls to #32. At no point did BTW ever tell your score keeper not to sit at the table, like other score keeps do. There where only three people at the official scoring table, the official book, the clock keeper and a reporter from the Commercial Appeal. DC got plenty of help from the refs tonight but they just where not the better team. Please don't try and make any excuses! At one point in the game the refs gave DC 5 freethrows and the ball. They called a tech on #24 after DC's #44 shoulder tackled BTW's #22 and then got a tech. They called a T on the crowd. You had plenty of help and I can assure tonight BTW did not need any help with the score keeper or the refs they let their play speak for them . Besides what makes your book so right, becasue yall book. COME ON MAN IVE BEEN TO DC THE LAST TWO YEARS YALL HAVE NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. Good Luck in AAA.
  6. Also SOS is a joke, these people don't understand how tough it is to play in the Metro Memphis area. The talent in Memphis is overwhelming.
  7. Coach I was really hoping it would not have happen to you this season. The Silver Ball jinks. Over the years, every Memphis Area team that played for the Championship did not make it back to the State the next year. It started with Melrose and Ashley Shield back in 2001 then again in 2002 with Craigmont. Northside in 2007 did not get back in 2008 and you guys this year. You have done an excellent job with your squad. Your girls are signing major D1 scholarships and you are running a excellent program. Trust me I know how you may feel right now, because BTW had some very "shaky" calls in our regional championship, all by a female ref. This lady even changed the arrow and removed the official book keeper becasue they disagree with her, and she was not the lead official. In the mist of 7-0 run to get us back in the game, three starters to foul out within 1 min of each other by calls made by the same female official.
  8. I'm on the staff BABY!!! I wish I was heading there tomorrow, could not get my girls there Saturday, if we would have won our regionals then both teams would be in the State. Hope the school admin let all the coaches go!! We need as many people from Memphis up there as possible. We have 5 teams going so you will always have a team to cheer for. heck I'm cheering for Memphis while Im up there really don't need a hotel room, just spend the night in the gym it is going to be a Memphis team darn near in every game!!
  9. Hats off to a good DC team. You guys came down and played a very good game. I admire the way you support your team. You guys came to BTW and where very polite and cheer for your team until the very end. It was a very good game between two good team, just like the last two but BTW was finally able to get over the DC hump. BTW played very well tonight and are heading back to the state for the first time since the T-Head Championship. Since Coach Horton benched his starters in that game against Hillcrest, they have worked together and won every game since. Just beating DC is not our goal, but to win the State is so back to work Warriors. "Our bus may be raggly and our school may be old, but they don't want none of this big green and gold, BT WWWWWWW."
  10. This year, Memphis City Schools will send 5 boys to the State Championships and two girls teams to the Championships. One A team in Manassas, two AA teams in Booker T. Washington and Sheffield, and two AAA teams in White Station and RE. On the girls side, Central and Overton. People just don't realize how hard it is to play in Memphis. Congradulations to the schools and MCS.
  11. Speaking on behalf of BTW, Gibson County is the real deal! They do an excellent job making the game look easy. They make adjustments within the game that makes it tough to come in with a game plan. We came in with the attention of shutting Heather down, which we did a good job of keeping someone on her #24 made it very difficult for her to find open looks but she found other way of scoring. They shoot the ball very well and stay loyal to their game plan. They are loaded, I think it was their subs that came in and made the run for them. We where just not deep enough to keep up with them. We tried to slow the game down by not pressing with hope to get it inside to our bigs, however they do a good job of controlling the tempo. I thought we could have made it a little more interesting if we could have got that 3rd foul call on heather before halftime, in my opinion I thought she should have got one of our #23 on a one on one play but it was not called and she finished with 25 despite a box and one all night. By the way DONT FOUL GIBSON COUNTY, they only missed 1 freethrow all night!! Go luck Gibson County, it makes it easier knowing you lost to the State Champs.
  12. Congrats go out to the BTW Lady Warriors who season ended last night at the hands of a great Gibson County team. The Lady Warriors overcame some very tough odds to make it back to their 4th consecutive Sectional game. Because of remodeling of their gym, the Lady Warriors where not able to get into their gym until one week after the regular season began. They lost one senior guard to transfer before the school year began, Samantha Ruffin, then lost All Metro player Jaquita Burt to torn ACL seven games into the season. This cause Coach Hunter to put the ball into the hands of two sophomores Laquaris Harris and Timbra Flemming. Seniors Daria Hester, Jessica Brown, and Monique Ingram carried the Lady Warriors to a league, District, and City Champions and a Regional Runner ups. Last night as with the Regional Championships, the inexperience of the guards killed the Lady Warriors. They came in with a great game plan and was right in the game with arguable the best team in Tennessee until the Turnovers allowed Gibson County to pull away. The Lady Warriors will graduate four senior this May, all of which will move on to play ball next season. Good Luck to Gibson County as they move on and back to the drawing boards for Coach Hunter and his staff. So Warriors fans lets get out and cheer for your boys team who will host Dyer County on Monday. By the way Booker T. Washington was one of only a few who had both their girls and boys in the Sectional game this year, for that matter, for the last three years. This is a school in the middle of the worse zip code in the country so keep your heads up you achieve despite the odds.
  13. Thanks, we came out in the final quarter and made the run that I knew we would but a costly turnover and three foul outs ended that run. The Lady was removed because she told the ref it was BTW possession because no jump balls where called. The ref said she was more official than the book so she can over rule the book. That same ref was also upset becasue the crowd was on her the entire night. I think the game was poorly officiated but I will not make any excuse our girls did not come to play so now we have the absolute hardest road in AA to get to the State.
  14. Thanks, it will REALLY be a safe trip if Heather Butler get a 12hour stomach virus and can't make the game. Nothing serious just a little bubble gutts will be fine. BTW will show up and play hard. Good Luck to you as well. Regardless of when, if BTW's goal is to win the State, at some point in time you have to play the best and right now Gibson County is the best rather in the Boro or GC the game will have to be played.
  15. Man BTW surely did not want to take that trip. We know what to expect when we get there. The entire city supports the team and they are well coached. You can see the girls spend time working on their shot and game. In the game last night, it was a three point game with 4 mins to go. BTW had three people to foul out in the mist of a 7-0 run that had Mitchell against the wall. Brown was in foul trouble the entire night officiating was very one sided but I will not take anything away from Mitchell, they are an aggressive team and they where allowed to play their game with little foul calls.
  16. BTW is well aware of how good Gibson County is, being they played them last year in the Sectionals. Coming off an emotional overtime win last night, BTW played their worse ball of the post season. Plagued by foul trouble all night, three starters fouled out in the last 4 minutes of a three point ball game. Mitchell was able to opening it up in the end. BTW understands the wall they will be up against but regardless of who you play, the game still has to be played and I can assure you BTW will show up and play the game. They know the entire town will be at the game at least an hour before tip off, all they ask is to allow the kids to play the game and it be dictated on the court and as all ways the best team will win. Gibson County was a good team last year and based on their record and margin of victory they are even better team this year. I plan on attending the game and hope to see a good game. Being I have seen BTW a couple of times they have a couple of D1 players and should put up a fight against the ???Best AA team in the state!??? . By the way the Ol??™ Barn has been renovated with a new floor, bleachers, and lights. It is amazing how a team that goes through medal detectors everyday, walk to school in the poorest zip code in the country still manage to make it to the sectionals the last four years while still competing in a city with over 40 other high schools. BTW takes the kids that suppose to be there and make them winners. By the way they lost their PG over the Christmas break to a torn ACL and still manage to make it back at least this far. I hear they have four seniors and all four will sign to play ball somewhere next year, two to D1??™s, including the one with a torn ACL. So show the lil??™ inner city team some hospitality and good luck to you all!!
  17. Looking at the teams in AAA Memphis is surely can see it your way. I read a lot of post on this site about all the other GREAT teams in this state and I look at what a team like Central, Millington, White Station and other will have to do just to get to the State. There are soooo many great teams in this area that the two teams that do make it will truly be tested. I truly hope that people are not just giving the Sectionals to Central and Millington becasue the district regional and sectionals will be hard. I will say this now LOOK OUT FOR MELROSE don't be surprise if they shot the state!!
  18. That's not totally true, that same year, BTW played Mitchell in the City got killed, bounced back and won their District, Regional and the Sectional on their way to the State. Also, the City is not an extra game, most teams have to set aside a game to play in the city because TSSAA only allow a set amount of games. Also, the City is still a Championship and folks like to win Championships. It is an excellent game to prepare you for post season play. These teams usually include the best from the two districts that will face each other in the Regional Championship for that chance to host the sectionals.
  19. If we expect our kids in Tennessee to compete with rest of the country we need to start leveling the playing field. There is a shot clock in college basketball. In several states including New York, California, and Texas, girls play under a shot clock. These states house young ladies that are consistently ranked in the top of their classes. We have to move forward and provide our young ladies with every advantage to get that scholarship. The shot clock puts the game back into the hands of players not coaches with stall tactics and slow down offenses. The women game is evolving and become more and more entertaining and not just the warm up to the boys game, which also needs a shot clock.
  20. Thanks for the advice. I've talked to a couple of college coaches and a few trainers as well they all believe it would be in her best interest to go ahead with the surgery and get ready as soon as possible. Most say her chances are greater if she has the surgery now and rehab than to play.
  21. I have a Senior who was just diagnosed with an ACL tear. She wants to finish the season because she has not signed. The doctors want here to have the surgery on Thursday and with a good rehab will make her basketball ready by July or Aug, but all interest will be dried up by them. I feel so bad for the young lady because I don't know which one is best. If she brace it up and finish the season at 50-70% she still may not get signed and could mess up something more. On the other hand, having the surgery now will end her season, thus the end of her recruiting which could also end her career. I have been telling her to have the surgery now be ready by the summer and participate in some camps and unsigned showcases. She is a guard and slashing to the basket and getting steals is her game, the lack of a ACL will limit her strengths. Some input please!!
  22. Both are being recruited by Major, Mid Major, DII's , and Juco's. Hester has a 3.9 unweighted GPA and 20+ ACT score, Brown needs a higher GPA. If you have know of any schools that are in need feel free to contract the BTW coaching staff, I sure they will welcome the help. Here is an article on the two. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/...-much-for-east/
  23. Booker T. Washington has two 6'1 Daria Hester 6'2 Jessica Brown
  24. Last year BTW traveled to a tough Gibson County where they came off the bus very sluggish and ran into a team that shot the ball very well from the field. As for coaching, Derek Hunter has over 750 wins in his career. BTW has been in the substate the last three years making it past a strong Martin Westview two years ago, when people where saying BTW would get out coached. I appreciate the fact that you believe your coaches are the best in the world but the good home cooking teams get when a Memphis team comes to town also helps. The key for Memphis team to get to the state is to win their region. If they have to travel, other factors come into play and trust me coaching has little to do with it. Not taking anything away from Gibson County last year or Jackson Northside three years ago, they both implemented great game plans. Just no that BTW will be a contender and look to make a real challenge for the AA crown.
  25. Look at the money. How much more money does the schools make for having those extra games. Also it gives those teams who play in a strong district a chance to still make it to the state. In Memphis, it is a dog fight in AAA basketball, If you look at 16AAA and 15AAA. If we want to talk about change lets do away with the sectionals. Start the blind draw after the Regionals and go from there. Make the state start that Monday. If you look at the sectional, I bet the home team won most of the games because they often get home cooking. Just a thought. Hay I also believe we should go to a shot clock.
