If you read my post, I never gave an excuse for his action. Being a Memphian, I was at a game once and saw him start a riot at Oakhaven. But my comment was "how would you react if you felt someone was unjustly taking away something that you have work hard to accomplish. Also Torry is a Senior and had been in the same state for the last three years, I will never try and justify his actions but who am I to say I would not have done the same. Being an educated person I will hope that I will not. To answer your question, being the person I am, I have been unjustly pulled over by the police for doing nothing but driving in a new truck at a young age and it was not until the officer realized that I ranked higher than he in the MPD world that he backed down. And for the mom comment, MY MOTHER IS NEVER WRONG. I disagree with you on the point that we should not teach our kids to react when they feel they are wrong. I refuse to allow my child to be passive if he is wronged he has the right to voice his opinion, just like you have a right to post to this board. However, it is the way people react is the problem. I wonder how many of you will contact the TSSAA on how the officials did in these Championships. Questioning authority is how change is made, but it should be done in the proper manner. Yea the boy was wrong for his reaction but I refuse to say he was not justified for being emotional. I think the kid was wrong and embarrassed alot of people with his actions and it took away from the tournament that he was having up to that point. I wish the kid well in his future and I hope that he gets a grip on that attitude because it could get him in trouble.

Lets talk about the game. What about the game. What are your thoughts on the game and how the game was played. Also Coaches don't play the game players do. For Mitchell to get to the Championship three years in a row must show that Coach Johnson must know something. Also to have won a championship should mean something as well he did with Kingsbury. So if Coach Johnson cannot coach means that every team they beat in this week must had weaker coaches then he, if you think the game is about Coaches. If the field was fair then Mitchell would have won. They knew in order for Fulton to win, key personel on Mitchell's team could not be on the floor.

Again how would you feel or react if someone is taking away something you have worked all year for. If you have never been in a situation where people are not being fair with you and judging you for your quality of work. Those kids at Mitchell and Fulton deserved to play in a game where the winner is determined by the kids on the floor and unbias refs. Right is Right and you as a 19 year old should demand right. I am not saying what the kid did was right rather he is 18 or 28 he is still an emotional human. Sometimes our emotions get the best of us. Hay someone thought he was deserving of a scholarship.

I agree sportsmanship should be tought and should be pat of any program, however, why should a person always have to be the bigger person when they are wronged. Torry is a hot head kid, but he is a kid. The game should be fair and should be played out where the best team should win. For those of you who keep making the jokes about the kids in Memphis really need to check yourself. These are kids and they deserve fair teatment. Then they should protest when they are not being treated fair. Grown folks should demand that they be treated fairly. Yea it is easy to say how you would act if you feel you where wronged but really how would you feel if someone is taking someting from you that you have worked so hard for. It is amazing how people on this site are so quick to say Memphis coaches cant coach or players cant play but why is there always come issues when we play. It is easy for people to try and put this kid down and even the Mitchell team but how about someone standing up for what is right. Man to not think this game was fair is fooling yourself.

Regardless of the outcomes tomorrow, Memphis Boys Basketball has left an impression on the Tennessee State Tournament that should be mentioned for a long time. To have four teams Representing the City and all Four playing for the Championship is truly amazing. It really shows that great ball is being played the city. Regardless of your affiliation to any team you have to be impressed with the overall ball that is being played in the City. Not only in the public schools but the private ones as well. Briacrest defeating CBU for the championship. Hay just think people thought BTW and RE where the teams that would be in this spot and they did not make it. Then you have Kirby, Central and Melrose that where making noise. Not to mention the traditional powerhouses Hamilton and Fairley. So congradulations to all four teams your city is very proud of you and the things that you have accomplished this year. To me you are all winners and reping you city well. Now go out and bring home the Gold balls. I know for sure one will come to Memphis. The AAA ball will be here. Hay the way things are looking in Memphis basketball, the Tigers are going to WIN IT ALL. We will get the #1 seed on Sunday and bring home the championship!! Yea Joe Johnson can fill it up. But how about Ken Torry from Mitchell. For a kid that was said to be about 70% last week this kid can play.

Ridgeway up by 11. Hope they can hold on so we can have an All Memphis Final!!

Yea, Memphis is really looking good in the State this year. Mitchell in the championship again for the 3rd straight time, Manassas there already, White Station back in the championship this year, who thought White Station would be back. Could we get that all Memphis final in AAA this year? We will see in about an hour. Private schools have dominated this year also. Man there seems to be a lot of talent in Memphis. Hay just think BTW and RE did not get to the state. On the girls side both Millington and Bartlett did well in the State with Millington being home the silver ball and Lausane winning in Private schools. With all the other mess going on in our town at least this year basketball is giving us something to be proud of. Also did I mention the M-E-M-P-H-I-S Tigers. If we could only get the Grizzlies on their level we would really be a Basketball town.

I won't make comments on my colleagues on here but I will say this, it is very easy to Coach from the bleachers, you don't have to deal with the attitudes, the parents, or the former players. While keeping stats for the boys, I also have question some decisions but again it is easy for me, I know that others have question some of the choices that was made on games that I was coaching. As for DC, they listen to their coach and believe in the system they are running. They put themselves in a postion to win games at the end. Rather it is from help, coaching or whatever, they find a way to get stops and put the ball in the hole. Like I said after the BTW win, they are a worthy rep for West Tennessee so good luck. I will root for you until the Finals against Mitchell.

Shot looks like a three to me also. But hay being from BTW, I'm glad someone else other than us have problems with Dyer County. For the last two season we have went to DC and had "issues" at the end. I think that there are alway issues when playing them, however just like us we allowed DC to get close at the end and they took advantage of the situations. When it is all said and done they make the shots. I know it is hard to look in the mirror and say its our fault cause it should not have got to that point. Last year we where up 11 late in the ball game and allowed them to get close. This year we where up 7 and allowed them to get close. So the point of the matter is DONT LET THEM GET CLOSE AT THE END!! THEY WILL GET HELP AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY WILL MAKE THE SHOTS UNDER PRESSURE. That is why I think they will make it to the finals. I think Mitchell will beat them in the Finals and another great game.

When you have home court advantage you should win. I bet if you play the state in East Tennessee, they would win. If you play in West Tenn they would win more. Its all about the fan support. When we played the sectionals at Gibson County in front of 2500 people it made a difference in the game. In the Boro you have an advantage because you crowd does not have the 3-4 hour drive the fans in Memphis have. Also don't count out BTW, we plan on making some noise next year. Returning everyone. I love the fact that kids have to play the game to determine the outcome, well for the most part. Looking at some of the post, most people are a little upset with some "issues" that are determining the outcome of these games.

I hate to keep saying this but "follow the money." The championships are played in what is called Middle Tennessee so there will be more reps in the state for Middle Tennessee. Not to say there is not good basketball being played in Middle Tennessee, but Coach you where there this year, who brought the crowd? More Crowd, More Money, More Representation. TSSAA is a money making venture. It is hard for teams as far as Memphis to get thousands to games in the middle of the week. Again this is my opinion.

Hay good job Bartlett you gave good effort in reping the Metro Memphis area. I saw JJ had a good night with 29 and 10. Stats show you guys shot only 5 freethrows in the game. Tell JJ to keep her head up she got a chance to be back next year.

Not to think TSSAA is not in it to make a profit is not thinking straight. I would hope that neither TSSAA or adult refs would be bias in any game played by kids. It is easy to turn a blind eye on things if they are not happening to you but when things always go against you, you have to wonder. Let me ask you this, if you where promoting an event who would you like to see there a group that will bring thousands to the party of a group that will only bring themselves and a few others? Also let me say this, I will not take away from the fact that last night was a great game played by two great teams. Dyer County did a good job getting themselves in a position to win the game and took advantage of things regardless of what was called they still had to put the ball in the hole. They are a team worthy to represent West Tennessee in the state. They have a great coaching staff and a great team. They get excellent support from their community and have paid their dues to get there,. BTW was in control of our own destiny and should have won our regional to aviod what I thought was one of the three best teams in AA. The problem is I think BTW and Mitchell was the other two. As we know only two team could get out from this section and I think that Mitchell and DC did the best job of taking advantage of the situation and held on the the longest. Two of the best games of the year wher BTW last two against Mitchell in Regional Finals and at Dyer County. As for what TSSAA thinks about my comments, I could care less this is a message board and blog in the United States of America I cannot prove my statement to be true nor can they prove it to be false. Again I wish Dyer County well and the Dyer /Mitchell Finals will be something to watch. I think becasue Mitchell has played for the Gold ball two years in a row I believe the will pull this one out and give Coach Johnson, who most of yall say can't coach either, his 2nd championship. At this point this is overkill about a game or outcome that will not change.

If the data is correct and Union City hit 20 threes like they did tonight, then yeah, I think they will be in the finals against Manassas just wanted to pull for the Memphis team but it will be a good one. Also I think Mitchell is an entirely different team then they where even three weeks ago but Haywood does have a chance to win, especially at Mitchell. Even so I think they both still consider themselves West Tennessee right. Then I will still be good!!

As I recall, three team from West Tennessee went to the state last year BTW in AA and East and Memphis Northside in AAA. East lost in the Semis and Northside lost in the finals. BTW was the only one to loose in the first round. For some reason people do not respect West Tennessee Ball. Both Millington and Bartlett are both capable of winning it all and they WILL meet in the finals to make it an all West Tenn finals. In AA, Gibson County and Milan will meet in the finals and make that an All West Tenn Finals. In AA boys Dyer County and Mitchell will meet in the Finals and make that an all West TENN finals. In AAA boys Ridgeway and White Station will meet in the finals and make that an all West Tenn finals. Middleton will be in the A finals in girls and Manassas will be in the A boys finals.

Yeah, I agree, I thought I would be headint there tomorrow with my girls and going back next week with the boys. But you guys had something to say about that. I will say this I think both Gibson County who beat my girls and Dyer County are good teams and are worthy to be there. I wish we could get the type of support that you guys get for your teams. That really makes a difference. I think if my teams would have handled their business and just won our Regionals we would be in the Boro with you guys. NOTE TO SELF YOU HAVE TO WIN THE REGIONALS TO GET TO THE STATE!!! West Tennessee will win all gold balls this year. Yea you are right. we came up with the "foul strategy" into hostile territory. Why do TSAAA post a financial report and talk about attendance after every state. If you are a real fan you would tell the truth. YOU ARE RIGHT FACTS ARE FACTS! Kids are kids n grown folks should make sure kids are treated fairly regardless of where they are from and for whom you cheer. My kids deserved a fair chance. Despite your advantage we still put on a show for you good folks. Have a good trip to the boro I hope you guys win.

Hay now lets not bash my Lady Warriors, yeah Gibson Co. girls played a good game and jumped out to 17-0. The fans played a great roll but don't shoot my kids down like that. After the 17-0 run the game was fairly even. Those 2000-2500 fans where such a big help. Gibson County shot the ball well the entire game. We tried to make a run but could not overcome that slow start.
