These boys have been pulling together the best they can under the circumstances.They have had several player meetings to keep things together they kept guys from quiting by being there for each other.If they were to quit it is to try and put a stop to the abuse.I players don't stand together and that's what these boys are doing standing together against wrongs being done to them.Coach Greene is the "I" his disappointment in not landing a college job is what's surfacing.He expected this year to be good for his application to coaching at the next level it didn't turn out that way and now he want's to take it out on the players.There are leaders on this team and they are leading the seniors and juniors.It's not just the seniors that have a problem with Coach Greene which should show what a huge problem there is.His negativity is also a big problem,have never seen encouragement to his players given by him.There are former Blackman players playing college ball now that Coach Greene pushed out of his program.His ability to judge talent is very suspect.This is also not the first year this has been a problem .AT the game on Thursday night he also was about to go after the coach for Goodepasture and had to be restrained by his assistants.His actions have imbarassed the school ten times more than a 0 win season would have.Rush 22 if you are counting on your Soph's and FR. they have been talking about transfering rather than playing next year for an abusive coach.Coach Greene has put Blackman in a position to be poor for several years unless he leaves.

Bad days coming all at once is a joke! They have yet to even have a good day.You can't continually put the same people on the field and expect the results to change.Here is another example of great strategie used by Coach Greene,Two out bottom of the 7th and he has our batter bunt to get the finale out of the game.This was in a one run game against a very weak pitcher that had already given up at least 3 runs.

How many innings can Blackman go before they score again?They are at 19 and still going.They have only scored 2 in the last 31 innings.This is what happens when you make your best athletes pitchers and then don't let them play in the field or hit.

BLACKMAN SHUT OUT AGAIN! THAT"S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR BEST ATHLETES PITCHERS AND THEN DON"T LET THEM HIT OR PLAY IN THE FIELD!

Since we still can't score here is some line-up help. Justin McDaniel in Left field,Rob Nell in Center field, Marcus Barnes in Right field,Josh Andru at 3rd,Brandon Jefferies at SS,Kyle Motley at 2nd,David Price or Michael House at 1st(depends on who's pitching),Kevin Prater catching ,Dh's Will Bowman or Ryan Cole,Pinch runner Jonte Haggins.There are also better players not even on the team.Please go get Scotty Hipp,Kris Lee and Adam Isabell.It's not to late to turn things around.

I'll bet the rest of the district is hoping Warren Co. gets the win tonight.

Tonight vs Cookeville is a big district game another loss by Blackman would just about take any chance of winning district with 2 games still to play against Riverdale and Oakland(playing better lately)each.Cookeville and Riverdale look to be the two horses in this race.

You can be out coached if your not putting your best lineup on the field.Starting 3 players with over 5 errors apiece.Lead off hitter with low on base perc.(take away 4 hbp's and it would be about the worst on the team)Continually over use pitchers.Leave your catcher in to run for himself even though he lacks speed in a 1 run game.Which of these things seem like sound strategy to you?

This year doesn't seem to be going well.Does any one have any idea what type changes could be made to improve team?Several suggestions would be to find guys to cut down on errors(outfield).Extra hitting and improved plate discipline.Better use of speedy bench players.Don't over work starting pitching(5 seniors but only 2 get innings and are being over used look for some very sore and tired arms come tourney time )Middle of batting order lacking power that was being counted on.Record of 3-6 very poor considering 2 of the wins were against the same team.This is a team that was expected to contend for district and state.That's not going to happen without some line up changes and better strategies.Having lost all of our 1 run games should be an indicator that we may be getting out coached.

With Rutherford Co. teams having some scrimmage games under their belts how are they looking for the start of the season?

This thread turned into should young players play ahead of seniors.The question was can young teams compete?The answer is yes.All teams no matter what age can compete.But to excell they must have TALENT and CHEMISTRY.A team loaded in one area can compete but a team must have balance in all areas to excell and win a championship.A truely good team doesn't worry about what class there in they worry and care about each other as teammates.

The worst team is always the one that doesn't believe in its self.

Alot of posts about who has the best staffs but how many pitchers does a varsity staff really need to be competative?Could just 2 or 3 dominant pitchers get you through district or regionals?Would it take 5 or 6 if you had a heavy schedule ? How much rest should pitchers get between starts?

Could anyone explain where all that money from a showcase goes?Show some sort of breakdown to show why it costs so much.You can probley make enough on ads and cocessions to pay for any field and maint. cost if there even is any and field times not a donation.Umpire costs would be taken care of by gate fees to games and cocessions .Somebodys pockets are getting fat off these kids.

A better value and exposure come from elite high school tournaments like Warrior classic where a scout has oppertunity to see many players in game situations and roles.

Agreed its not fair but disagree that summer teams are where these kids get noticed.There are many outstanding players who dont play travel or summer ball due to other sport requirements or only play occasionally due to football conditioning.Most times word of mouth gets out on kids who can dominate at the high school level and you must be that type player to go D1.Priority for most players should be to their high school teams.Players that are a step down from dominant need the extra exposure of summer and the help of their HS coach with contacts and letters.By the way most dominant summer programs scout the high school games now also to locate their players.

Every year the gap closes with new schools opening in the boro.This year should still see a boro team or two on top but the others are going to be right there.All in all should be very fun very competative year for everyone.

Being a big expensive showcase doesnt mean the best players are there.Ultimately the truely deserving D1 type of player gets recognised at his highschool games.Border line or smaller type schools are the ones that benefit most by these.And whats wrong with local kids getting those D1 sships.Cal.,Tex. Flo. are over scouted and traveling to give some scholarsship to a kid that may get homesick and leave your school to go back home to school is a waste.Exposure is whats important and with the computer and sites like this its getting easier to get that exposure without going to a showcase.Contacting schools and coachs is getting easier also.Those college coachs can now check on prospects through more resources than they ever had before.

Coach Greene at Blackman has done a great job of getting Blackman to co-champions in 7AAA in just three years of the new school opening.He has lead the building and making of a great facility at Blackman.He has even done a great job of getting players seen by college coachs.He keeps up with all his boys grades even getting them togther after school to work on subjects they are weak in.His asstants are outstanding and i'm sure he is even getting them ready for their own head coaching jobs one day.We better enjoy Coach Greene now because it wont be long before some college gets wise and steals him away.By the way he has a state title he won at his previous school.So thats why my vote would go to Greene.

Honstly all teams should believe they have good pitching this time of year its not till the games start and all the players from other sports are back that reality will set in for some of these teams.Pitching for some teams could be very good but records won't indicate it because a teams infield couldn't catch a cold or their outfield is full of hitters that can't track a fly.Some outstanding pitching will be hidden on small A or Div 2 teams with out much exposure .But for now everyone should be chomping at the bit and ready to go.

As in most things there are different determining factors.It is a shame though these have to be so expensive.This must eliminate many deserving kids.This seems like just as large a bennefit to the schools and scouts as it does for the kids,shouldn't some of the cost be passed on to them.It's the kids that can't afford these that need the scholarships the most.Maybe a good idea would be for each district or region to hold free showcases once a year for only junior and senior players in each region or district at rotating high schools each year.I recall a pro team years ago that would send high school players that were all district or higher invites to free showcase (TRYOUT) they held.I guess the money made off kids dreams is what gets me the most.Baseball is still the same as it was years ago same equipment,same rules,same fields but the cost is getting too excessive for some kids and even some schools.
