  1. Looks like Cates is sweeping the board, huh? Is he a senior? What grade are the rest of these guys in?
  2. Yeah, but the LA coach is probably a GOOD coach, and probably a likeable, friendly guy. That's not exactly Nickerson's description. A majority of our problems are the coach's fault -- I've even seen guys in the stands at games who aren't parents of players or anything, just town fans, look at Nickerson, hear what play he's calling, and question why he's doing that. Then it ends up with a sack, a yardage loss, an interception, or some other catastrophe. It's like there's regular people from the community out here that seem to know more about what we should be doing than our own head coach does! Something is wrong with that! But you know, it isn't exactly every coach's dream job out here, so I guess we're just lucky that we actually have somebody that's willing to do it. Go LIONS!
  3. Oh, were you agreeing with us? Sorry. And thanks (if you were). I just thought you were trying to be smarty like everybody else.
  4. It'd be nice to see a York win, but I'd say Smith will end up pulling this one off.
  5. I'd say that's accurate. Cates is definitely a great player -- in both football and basketball -- a true all-around athlete. And Smith and DeKalb's are pretty good, too. Didn't get to see Portland play, and we've got Trousdale this week, so I'll get to see Dillehay there. All I can say is that any QB that is equally good throwing the ball as well as running it, is great in my opinion. That's something I can't say we have. Our starting QB usually can throw pretty decent, but he won't run for the life of him. His backup, though, can run like the wind, but his throwing isn't all that great. So we have the best of both worlds, just not in the same person, unfortunately. But Josh is working on it (I hope) and maybe by his senior year, (or even better, next year) he'll be #1 in the region.
  6. Yeah, hospitality! At least give us SOMETHING!!
  7. Just something I've wondered about. Rank these guys (without any negative remarks about specific people) according to their stats, grade level, and overall talent. Please only include 4-3A teams here: Cannon, Smith, DeKalb, Jackson, Portland, Macon, Trousdale, Upperman, York, and Livingston. If you know the names of the individual QBs, you can list some of those, too. Just remember about the negativity thing.
  8. I know there's plenty of 7AA people out there. How's it gonna be this year?
  9. You should get Jacob Melton on here. Wouldn't that be fun?!
  10. We are serious! It's just too bad we didn't think of that a long time ago! Go LIONS!!
  11. Oh, come on! Nobody wants to play us? It'd probably be an easy win! But for us I'd say: 1. Jackson Co. (The only team we beat this year.) 2. Mustangs (our 7th-8th grade team) 3. Jackson Co. 4. Ponies (our 5th-6th grade team) 5. Jackson Co. 6. Riverdale (Just so they could set a record # of points in one game) 7. Jackson Co. 8. "The Little Giants" 9.Jackson Co. 10. DeKalb Co. (Just for fun!) With this I'd say we might have a chance of a winning season! Only in our dreams...
  12. Don't we already have this topic somewhere? I'd say Cannon Co. and DeKalb Co. (Around here anyway.) Should've been at our Homecoming bonfire and game. Both events ended up requiring police assistance. (But they started it! )
  13. A DeKalb player calling another team dirty?! How backwards is that?!
  14. Lazarus, they're independent teams with volunteers coaching. It kinda has to be that way since all the players aren't from one school -- the teams are composed of kids from the 6 grammar schools. So maybe that'll help you. And beethoven, I wasn't around in the 70's to know if he was at SC or not, but if you're talking about Michael Mayfield, no he's not coaching anymore, but he is still our assistant principal. Wingman10, how do you know about us?
  15. Yeah our PA guy is pretty cool. He's the principal's husband, and his daughter's a cheerleader, so it's kinda a whole family deal there. Josh, the key word in your post is "possibly." Nothing is impossible, but trying to get the guys to expect to win, especially against TC, is pretty close. I still think we should make "Someday" (you know, from camp?) our theme song. Tell that to Glenn, Josh -- he might get a kick out of it. Go LIONS!
  16. I haven't seen this one started yet, so here it is. I know who the obvious pick is, but I'm still always for my Lions. Predictions, comments, whatever -- put it all here. Let's get it on!
  17. Like I said about 7 posts ago, we have a 5th-6th grade team, and a 7th-8th grade team.
  18. We have athletes too, but we don't have the program to back it up, or the coaches to pull it all together at game time. Kitty...One of our assistant coaches has been here 2 years, one has just been here this year, one has been here either 2 or 3 years, I think, but I'm not sure, and I'm not really sure about our head coach either, but I think he's only been with us 3 or 4 years. I do know he came to us from Texas, though. Any previous experience at any other schools (if there is any -- I'm beginning to wonder), I have no idea about.
  19. 1. Go to college and get your degree. 2. Become energetic, yet a good disciplinarian. 3. Know what you're doing, and try your best to be great at it. 4. Be dedicated to the program, the school, and the game. 5. COME TO CANNON COUNTY!!!
  20. Hmm...who will win this -- Portland or Portland? I think I'm gonna go with Portland. No contest.
  21. Well, I must say I was thoroughly surprised to see this one play out the way it did. I thought Portland would come out with an undefeated season. Guess I was wrong. They updated and announced the score throughout our game, so we knew what was going on (And believe me, it was more exciting hearing that score than watching the game right there in front of us! ). Congrats to LA!
  22. Yeah, that's it. We lost (And I must say I was completely shocked! ), 33-7. Good try anyway guys. I hope Kermit, Josh (Haley), and Donnie are OK. Next week we've got either Upperman or Trousdale, I think, but I can't remember. Should we go ahead and write down the final season record? It's pretty much predictable now, isn't it? Don't mean to sound so negative guys, but, you know, I can't sit here and pretend like we've got a chance to win this thing. But, nevertheless, I still have faith that someday we'll have a winning season. Someday....remember that song from camp, Josh (Lance)? I think we need to make it our theme song, and have our band... -- wait, we don't have a band do we?! Man, we're really going uphill now, huh? See y'all next week. Go LIONS!
  23. AMEN!! Thank you for finally realizing this. Maybe others will soon figure that out, too. And no, we don't have a Jr. High or Middle School football, because, well, we don't have a Jr. High or a Middle School! We just have six grammar schools that are K-8, and then from there, everybody just goes to the high school. Simple as that. Anyway, for what it's worth, GO LIONS!
