  1. What about the guy tht used to coach the Waynesboro Middle School football team 4-5 years ago? I think his name was Ron Keadon. He had a really good record over about 10 years. I know he can out-formation many teams in jr high, and his offensive playbook put up a bunch of points. Has this guy ever had aspirations of coaching high school football? He would be a good fit with the athletes at Mt Pleasant. I figured he was a big reason for the development of the current high school players at Wayne County and we saw what they accomplished!
  2. After reading these posts for more than two weeks, it befuddles me that perry county considers themselves one of the best teams to challenge for the state title this year. There are players on three teams in district 12a with substate experience, and none of them are perry county players. These guys have much to prove to themselves and their fans before they can challenge for a shot at the state tourney. Getting into a region 6A tourney final would be a major step this year, something that hasn't happened in a while for this program. After seeing the results of last night's game in wayne county, it looks like this district is up for grabs, not to mention what mt. pleasant and columbia academy will have to contribute come region tourney time in mt. pleasant. One game at a time for each of these teams in this region. Looks like the vikings have everything going their way with a district title on the line at their place come tuesday night against their nemesis. Lot of anxious people on the home side of the gym in Linden.
  3. Stats can be misleading; anybody know who keeps Perry County stats? Heard it was Jacob Tucker's mom. Hope this is not true, but you never know. The guys from Jo Byrns (QB and RB) probably play less than anyone mentioned in this thread, so you know their stats are skewed. Good luck to everyone nominated, it is indeed an HONOR just to get to the banquet! There are several deserving players who never get there, so enjoy this tome of your lives.
  4. Has coach had anyluck with the kid at Cox this year. Will he be at Culleoka next year?
  5. I bet "Super" Mario had a great day of rest on wednesday, because his back was killin him after carrying his team to a region 6 final. 31 points, 22 of team's 26 points in the 2nd half, handling ball, rebounding, controling tempo. Just a few factors he brought to culleoka's victory to secure a sectional game. Hey stevens and holt, did you guys use up all your game in defeating an overmatched wayne county team? Did the twins get "shaky hands syndrome" in crunch time? Did everyone not wearing number 10 almost tank in the most important game ofthe year? Anxious to see the response tonight in region 6 final against moore county.
  6. For Moore County and Culleoka to meet in the state finals would mean that Union City, Humbolt, Lake County, and Manassas probably fell in the Tennessee River in route to Murfreesboro for the state tourney. Their style of ball is a different world; shoot, run, defend, pass. Good luck to all teams in Region 6 on Tuesday night.
  7. I didn't get to see the semi-finals, but I heard that Thompson did not score in the 2nd half against Wboro, finishing with 10 points. I did see the finals on saturday, and I did see Thompson make some adjustments and finish around the rim. I think he had 29 points. It looked as Summertown allowed him to cross the lane untouched and did not front him, but played behind him in the low post. They did not double team from the perimeter, either. This proved costly, as Thompson was able to have time to create his looks. I have noticed in the past that pressure tends to bother him in double team situations, but that did not occur on saturday. Summertown recieved their kiss of death by not guarding Thompson on defense and forcing quick perimeter shots on offense. Must of been a huge win for the Trojans program, because their reaction at the end of the game looked like they had just beaten the New England Patriots.
  8. Where was this game played at? Can you give any details on Sumertown's play or Collinwood's lack of? This is really a surprising spread for these two teams. I thought Collinwood wa considered one of the favorites for thsi district race this year, returning a lot of players from last year's team. Did Summertown play that well? Any information would be appreciated.
  9. I just went to the high school page on the sports section of tennessean.com and clicked on the team bar. I checked the totals for each individual game and added them up. Not too bad if your internet is fairly fast.
  10. How can anyone not mention Wes Long and Nick Nance of Summertown? These guys have combined for 106 made 3s, according to the tennessean website. Long has connected for 60 3s and Nance has made 46 3s in 19 games (15-4 record, 8-0 in 12A). These guys get the ball to the rim in the fast paced offense Trotter employs.
