I have only been a part of this Region for 3 years. I think this is the best I have seen the region finish in the 3 years I have been following it to state. Congrats to Hendersonville Commandos on their strong finish. This is the 1st time in 3 years that they sent all all their top wrestlers. IN 2007 and 2008 they were missing 2 of their top wrestlers that would have helped on the points at state. MTJ Bears what a great year you have had. You are the top Dual team in our region and it's been great meeting your team and fans. I knew at region last year your team was going in the right direction. Good luck and I hope to see you bust the top 10 at state next year. You shook up the Sate Duals this year and maybe next year you can do it in Choo-Choo town. You have one of the best Hwy wgts in the state to anchor your team and light weight's that are a few point's away from greatness. Beech has a stable of young grapplers that will just get better and better. Smyrna always has a couple of studs that are great young men. When we moved here Springfield and WC was the top dogs. Then the Commandos stepped it up and then the battle was with ...........The Bears this year. I think Beach might have been next. It's was Region that had at least 4 teams that were fighting to be the best in their region. Good luck in the new regions and make some noise like the Bears did this year.

2 X Region 8 Champ Johnny Klinard ends up 4th in reg. Ends up not going to state. Last year I think he was one match away from placing at State. He was in top 5 most of the year. Best Frind had wreck and was in critical cond. The girlfriend in the car died. He was at the Hospital all week prior to reg. Some great SR Grappler ends up having something happen every year. Some are self inflicted others come form outside circumstance. I appreciated their hard work and the blood and sweat they gave to a sport you have to luv to give so much.

My oldest will be there in June. I was there about a year ago. VD drive has really cleaned up and they are pumping lot's of bucks into new housing.

Wrestling is truly a family sport. Look at the names on the FR, Baylor and other teams rosters. I can look at thse teams rosters from 10 to 29nyears ago and see some of the same names I wrestled against or cheered for. Someone in the TSSAA needs to remember eo keep this event family frindly!

Yep, I was out there with other's trying to work while watching state. Thank Goodness for Blackberry's. I can't remember looking up and seeing empty seats on the bottom level in the past. What was up with the parking of cars down at the old Lookouts Stadium?

Hendersonville Commando 148 Emilii Russell. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> In the Championship match, (Hendersonville) pinned Tiffany Deirden (South Doyle), :11 She pinned all her opponents in the first period. She is a hard worker and has been a pleasure to watch since my family moved to Hendersonville. I was glad to see her teamates supported her with the same zeal that the other Commandos received during the State. She also has wins against male grapplers and in the the boy's State Duals. So she can do it all. She is attend 2 additional Regional Tourneys this weekend. Does anyone know if she has wrestled 138 First: Emily Gessler (Tullahoma) ?

I was surprised also. Then I saw the young man with his family. From what I saw I think they are Muslim because of the females head cover. I would have thought they would have looked down on his actions but seamed to be laughing at it. Not attacking his religion, just my observation from being around folks of the Muslim faith in the past.

They have placed well as a team at the Father Ryan Tourney We have our 1st female State Champion Ms Emily Russell Who pinned every opponent she face in the first period. They are not at Father Ryan's level but they are by no means losers. Some are Childish but not losers. Very seldom do I get to take the High Road! It must be that getting near 50 that has toned down my anger button! I was sitting in front of the D-II mat and was watching that great 215lb contest. What an upset! When I turned to watch the D-I mat. I saw folks coming out of the stands down to the roped off area and pointing and yelling out of control. Then it looked like the Cleveland coach told these young men to back off and get back in the stands. I don't remember seeing anything like this at state but I have seen it at the Sr Nationals. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I know I have been thrown out for less. So when the Clarksville Coach says something negative about Chattanooga Refs it's High Treason. Now we have some of these same folks attacking a Middle TN Ref that is one of the best I have seen. What a joke!!!! He is a class act that had to make the call! I have never seen anyone attack this ref's integrity! I do have a question about this match. Is it true that the Cookeville headgear was loose begause he had an ear problem?
