  1. Pretty much all of Brentwood's D is seniors THIS year. Its a solid group that is very athletic and good stick skills.
  2. I would follow Coach Joe Blair through heck. A great man and an outstanding coach. I'm sad to be graduating his program.
  3. There is really no point in arguing this. DI wrestlers/coaches/parents/fans etc. will always say DI is better. The same goes for DII. But I dont think you can ignore the fact that overall the DI tournament is bigger and more competitive as well as the fact that you actually have to qualify for state.
  4. Props to West for a great tournament and a great career but Holliman deserved and to win that championship match. In every period - including OT he took the first shot and was the aggressor. That being said, look for "Special K" Holliman to make up for unfinished business in the next two years.
  5. Props to Maryville and good luck. It's good to see the sport growing in TN. Hopefully we can get it sanctioned by TSSAA some day.
  6. I agree that 4 or 5 years ago BHS played very physically - to the point where they hit to make up for their inability to compete with their stick skills. The sad part is that reputation has followed us to our new era (for lack of a better name) where we use our actual stick skills. Now our legal hits are often called for penalties which are absolutley outrageous. I remember last year when one ref waved his hands in the air and called a penalty for "ground ball...everything" and put me in the box for a 3 min. non-releasable. bhsde64 even got called for a hit when the ref explained that "it was legal...but too violent".
  7. I have to reiterate what Redtwin said about playing with a stick when it is cold...I broke the head of my stick by playing with it right after i took it out of the back of my truck. As far as D sticks go - I have loved playing with a DeBeer Wizard head with the Trakker pocket. It's very stiff for great poke checks and a heavier head for better balance. I use a Brine F-22 shaft.
  8. Ok, then why did one of your coaches leave our program for MBA? Im pretty sure it's because he gets paid a lot more than our coach gets...if he gets paid at all. Face it MBA...you're that good because of $$ - nothin wrong with it...just a fact. And you can make the argument that we have more money than a lot of places, but nowhere near the old money of MBA.
  9. Look for Chris Lewis from Brentwood High to have a great year. Also, Pierson Davis...the two feed off each other and have the potential to be very detrimental to opposing defenses.
  10. A huge congrats to Joe. When I saw him pin in the waning moments of his championship match I couldn't have been happier. A great guy, great wrestler and the best part - he is from Williamson Co. Happy trails, Joe.
  11. The best match of the tournament recieved it's due recognition. The 130 championship between Holliman and West. Although i disagreed with the outcome, you can't beat a 1-1 double OT championship match.
  12. Brentwood LAX may be a DII program but it still has high quality players. Montileone, Heath and Parks on D, Vijay Krishna between the pipes, Davis and Lewis at attack - a very solid group and one of the hardest working bunch of guys i have ever had the privilege of working with. Say what you will about MBA, McCallie and the other private schools that are top quality basically because of $$. Come to a Brentwood game and see a bunch of guys who play not necessarily to win a championship (although it would be nice) but to play for the sake of playing. Also see a great bunch of coaches who just love the sport - and give their time to a great bunch of fellas. We may not be as good as the MBA's, McCallie's and MUS's...but we work just as hard, have more fun and love the sport, and in the end - thats what it's all about.
