  1. Not sure who is hosting the district tournament, but all scores for Knoxville and upper East TN game are posted except for two games from this district. Seems like someone has gone to sleep on the job.
  2. It is so refreshing to see all the positive posts on this site for a change. Most of the posts are usually negative or head in that direction fast. I don't know Coach Darden, but by reading the posts from his former players I have no doubt he is a great coach and man. The players know when a coach truly cares about them and has their best interest at heart. You can't fool them.
  3. Does anyone know if Volunteer High School is still having their Christmas tournament Dec. 20-22??? If so, what teams are in the tournament? Would appreciate any info.
  4. Who does CG have beside the Nelson kid? Isn't he still playing football? Jellico by 10
  5. Rutledge should win the championship hands down. They also have a good chance of going undefeated in the regular season. Don't know of any team in the district that can even come close especially since they have one of the possibly best juniors in the state.
  6. Pigeon Forge won over Claiborne. I think the score was 48-42.
  7. Its going to be a great tounament. Cant wait til monday. I heard that Coach Wright from PF was voted coach of the year. Congratulations to him, he did a great job with PF this season. I also heard that Nickle was MVP, does anyone else know if this is true? Its hard to believe that a 5-5 team would have the MVP. I do agree that he is one of the best players in the district but i believe that there were better players for there respective teams this season. He is definitely the best player on that team and the reason that Claiborne finished with a .500 record in the district but I still think there are better choices out there for MVP. Not taking anything away from Nickle cause he is a very good player. Im sure Estes thinks he is the best player on that team but anyone that watches them play knows who they look to in the crunch. Im not sure if the Coach of the year and the MVP are correct so if this is wrong please correct me. Does anyone know who made the all district team? I could probably guess most of them. Well, I would like to say good luck to all the teams in the district and in the region as well.
  8. Cumberland Gap vs. Rutledge has changed times for tonights games. Girls Varsity will be at 5:00 and the Boys Varsity will be at 6:30 due to the bad weather that they are expecting. just thought everyone might want to know
  9. KevB, not sure who released the information. My daughter's coach told me this weekend when I picked her up from practice. She didn't mention who released the information.
  10. Hey uncchapelhill, sorry if I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought both of the Fultz guys were seniors this year though. I hope your team wins as well, just hope my team and your team don't meet. GOOD LUCK!
  11. CONGRATUALTIONS!!!!!!! Allen DeWyse and Tyler Sauceman for being selected as this year's district Co-MVP's. Way to go guys!!!!
  12. WOW, uncchapelhill your post sounds almost identical to uncdomination. As I stated to uncdomination's post, when reading between the lines there seems to be a lot of animosity from both of you toward Cumberland Gap's starting line up. I guess the key thing you both said is that you are avid followers, not avid SUPPORTERS, otherwise you would not make a post that could be taken the wrong way. As I stated before Cumberland Gap is VERY fortunate to have Barry Brooks on that TEAM. He does definitely make them better. It does take more than the five starters to have a great team. The "sixth man" as you call him, and sometimes the "7th and 8th men" on a team is what makes the difference betweeen an average TEAM and a great TEAM. I do wish the Cumberland Gap Panthers, as well as, the other teams in the district GOOD LUCK! I just hope my TEAM wins!
  13. Well, there seems to be a general consensus from reading the posts and listening to the various coaches, sportswriters, etc. that the teams in this district are pretty evenly matched. By looking at the teams win/loss records against each other it seems to prove that this is true. So, I would think the first round winners would be the teams with the best coaches. Too bad half of the teams have to go home the first night when so many of them seem to deserve to win, but that is why you have tournaments. I do feel sorry for the seniors on all the teams because so many of them will see their hard work, dedication and dreams come to an end after one game. I hope the tournament is all everyone expects and look forward to it.
  14. I am sure that PV is talking about officiating. I agree with you Gloryseeker, they have been having great crowds this year and a vocal student section. When we were there the gym was almost filled. I just looked at their schedule and looks to me like they have only lost one home game this season. Seems to me home court advantage has improved greatly for them, because everyone knows they struggled in the new gym last year. I will say that overall the quality of officials has gone done, but that can be true anywhere on any given night, no matter if you are playing at home or on the road.
  15. Are the scores for the Union County and Claiborne game, as well as the Cumberland Gap and Chuckey Doak game correct???? Hard to believe Union County and Claiborne only scored a combined total of 69 points.......Union County 36 and Claiborne 33. Even more surprising that Cumberland Gap beat Chuckey Doak by a score of 79 to 41. I am not surprised by the actual winner of either game because the teams in this district seem to be evenly matched, just wondering about the scores.
  16. I agree that A.J. Fultz needs to improve. From the game I saw him play in earlier in the season unitl now, he has shown major improvement. I bet the Panthers are really glad that he is only a Junior and will have lots of time to improve before his Senior season.
  17. Good answer KevB1990......He is just getting over pneumonia.........He has 3 pairs of pants now though...... The big problem though is finding those size 18 shoes
  18. Cumberland Gap has a better than average chance of winning. Rutledge's only district loss at home this season was to Cumberland Gap.
