  1. And you gotta luv those Polk fans.......nuttin better than a bunch of grown has beens or never was yelling at teenage kids from another school.........
  2. Didn't realize that Tyler D. needed Meigs to toot his horn ..... we all think he does a pretty good job of tooting it himself.......
  3. What is the proper amount of time for the catcher to show the umpire the ball?
  4. I guess your definition of class would include Polk Co. fans sitting on the Meigs side of the field and by Polk "ADULTS" yelling at Meigs Co. players? Those who live in glass houses should NOT cast stones.
  5. I find it quite humorous that someone from Polk Co. could use the word "classless." The story is that the umpire had already ruled the runner safe at home and the catcher continued to lay on him. The "5 second rule" expired and the Meigs player needed to get back to the dugout so the game could continue. A good idea would be to quit posting things on here that you "hear in a phone conversation." If you are not somewhere to witness in person what happened it would be a good idea to listen instead of speak.
  6. This board sure was more peaceful when they had all the Polk Co. people locked out. Sure wish that CoachT would turn the key again.
  7. There were 12 teams that played in Athens that would beat McMinn, and none of them are in their "classification."
  8. To be honest every team that played in the Athens tourney would have beat McMinn this year. They lost their "season opener" to a team not in their class by a score of 32-0. It also seems if they want to "play" teams in their class then they would not have Tyner, Brainerd, and Howard on their schedule. If they would rather travel that is fine but stop using they need to play better teams as an excuse to not play in Athens.
  9. Boy, I remember back in the good ole days when you played ball because it was FUN !! Too many coaches and parents make youth and school ball seem more like a job than a game. Used to when one season ended you changed out your bag and added the equipment necessary for the next sport that was starting. In my opinion, which doesn't count for much, bring back the GOOD OLE DAYS !! Whoever says that AAU is not just legal recruiting is blind in one eye and can't see out of the other. In our little corner of southeast TN I can name about 5 or 6 cases of girls who played AAU out of their county and when their freshman year rolled around they were suddenly driving 25 miles to school instead of just down the road.
  10. What's it look like to everyone this year in District 5AA? Here is how I see it shaking out. 1. Sweetwater - Pretty much everbody back and loads of pitching 2. Boyd Buchanan - Probably just reloaded 3. McMinn Central - EVERYBODY back 4. Polk - EVERYBODY back 5. Meigs - Very, Very, young but talented 7. Sequoyah - Much improved 8. Tyner - better than Brainerd 9. Brainerd - Good Luck !
  11. Your wish holds true for this year. I bet he really showed his "class" against Livingston. Can't wait for LA to get home and start posting.
  12. Beating McCentral on their home court makes it just that much sweeter!
  13. Hats off to McKinnon...according to Chatt. paper she had 37 pts. It also hurt Tellico that they couldn't get any stops on defense in the fourth and I'm sure that since they played their starting five almost the entire game (except for a couple of short breaks by two bench players) fatigue had to be a factor. In the first half Tellico really got in Centrals face on defense and went to the dressing room up by six at the half. Second half I thought defense dropped off a little and Central responded. Although I am not a fan of either team, (especially Central) they both played extremely well and it was a great game to watch.
  14. Me too! He is, however, his teams best cheerleader.
  15. Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.
  16. Did the "rumblings" that you heard come from within your own program at CHS? If so, I wouldn't put alot of trust in what you have heard. Hope you heard that rumor elsewhere.
  17. You are right that parents make decisions but, I am not convinced that those decisions are based solely on education. My question now, how many students that are non athletes go to schools other than the one in their area? If I were placing a bet, my money would be on more athletes over non athletes move to other schools. As for placing blame on AAU, I don't think so. I think the blame lies within the home, the loyalty parents (and/or students) have to their local school, and whats more important to both parent and student......athletics or schools.
  18. Man..if all those people have those kind of games it will be more like 50-44.
  19. Do you EVER go to actual class ?? According to our local "Polk Co." expert......if he does play it probably won't be at quarterback.......
  20. Yes......5'5" any way you measure him.......top to bottom.....left to right.....front to back........ANY way you measure....
  21. Hey Infamous......Fat Phil up in K-town said give him a holler if you have any eligibility left and you have grown 5 inches.........and my brother said "are you getting bigger or are your clothes shrinking in the wash?"
  22. And I am SURE he wouldn't play running back for the Owls. They surely wouldn't let a kid run the ball that "only" averages 150 yards a game. You Owl fans are really something. You have a couple of good seasons after 50+ lousy ones and all you can do is talk about how average everyone else is. Win a gold ball or reel off 15-20 winning seasons and THEN toot your own horn.
