To all those that talked down towards Meigs before the game....as a teacher of mine used to say “it’s better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.”

I'm not offended. Only defending my opinion and the coach. It's all good and I look forward to our next hooters trip.

It's not for me to judge how the team is being worked. I do know however, that when my daughter played, parents were not on coacht bashing the coach for his decisions. We may not have agreed with every decision, but we certainly never vented publicly. That's what made that team better. Parents and players put differences aside and came together as a team to accomplish the task at hand. More of you could learn from that. Oh yeah, that team also stuck together in the summer instead of moving to which ever team best suited "their need" thus keeping Meigs County pride at home year around instead of seasonal!! Correct me, as I'm certain you will, if I'm wrong, but is it more important to you to win every game in the season, or to work as a team to get better as a team to reach the ultimate goal of post season? I also find it humerous how you buddy up with the coach and then talk about him here as if he or anyone else would t know you lol!!

Maybe the coach new that grace was only an extra game that didn't count in pool play and wanted to get some of his younger players some experience. Maybe if the pitching was better the defense wouldn't have to work as hard. Maybe you don't know anything about TEAM ball. Maybe you need to stay home and leave the coaching to the coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not to mention they are all straight A students and not one has had any kind of school disipline issues this year. I think that speaks volume for these girls that they can maintain such high GPA's while balancing their hectic schedules. Good luck in the future to all these girls in SB as well as BB!

Who cares who wins this game! It will have NO bearing on the district standings. Polk won the game that counts. Congrats on a big win. Also, I would not be so quick to predict the out come of this years season due to the fact that your returning players only won games against Polk, Sweetwater, McMinn Central, Meigs, AND Tellico by not more than three runs. Thus any of those games could have went the other way! So cool down and lets see what the future holds for ALL these teams.

Hey Boyd fans, the Lady Tiger Booster Club will be having their 2nd Annual Tiger Boil at the softball feild before the game Friday. The menu consist of Shrimp, Polish Sausage, Corn on the Cob, Potatoes, Slaw, Drink, and Dessert for only 8.00. Children (10 and under) 5.00. There will also be a hotdog meal availabe with chips drink and dessert for 5.00. Serving time is from 5:00-7:30. So come early for good food and a great time.

If the article you read was in the local Athens paper then I would venture to say that half the stuff which was quoted was not actually said. Did they at least spell some of the words right in the article?

If the Chargers of whom you speak are the ones from McMinn Central.................."GET REAL" still a door mat for the top teams in this region........remember.....if you stunk as a sophomore you will most likely stink as a junior...........

Meigs County has 2 freshman pitchers this season..Lindsay Arndts finished with a 7-5 record and 1.99 ERA. Brooke Melhorn finished with an 9-2 record and a 1.54 ERA. They were part of a 4 girl pitching rotation with the other 2 pitchers being very fine sophomores.

There should be no such thing as a "sports oriented school" in the first place. This rule will hopefully stop coaches who insist a player only play one sport. I don't know exactly when sports became a job instead of playing for fun but it needs to get back to where it is fun, for the player, not the parents.

I am assuming that since all I hear out of Benton tonight is silence that Central must have won the game. Any details?

Meigs beat Central 3-2 in 8 innings in the winners bracket final. Polk beat Boyd 12-2 in losers bracket game. Tomorrow Central and Polk meet in losers bracket final with the winner having to beat Meigs twice to win the championship.

McMinn Central over Sweetwater 3-2 and Boyd over Tellico 1-0 in 10 innings. It's a shame this tourney wasn't double elimination all the way through.

District 5AA tourney starts tomorrow with 4 single elimination games. Schedule is as follows: #8 Tyner @ #1 Boyd Buchanan, #7 Sequoyah @ #2 Sweetwater, #6 Polk Co. @ #3 McMinn Central, #5 Tellico @ #4 Meigs County. This should be a very interesting first round with the 4 losers going home. Any thoughts on who the 4 teams are that will advance? Boyd Buch is the only one I see who has NO chance to lose on their home field in the first round.

OK ole wise one here goes. He will play either 2nd base or the outfield. NOW bust away.

Have you called Memphis' coach and told him what a grave mistake he made? I can't believe he didn't call and ask your advice before he offered him a scholarship. I am sure the Memphis program will take a nosedive if they keep signing well mannered, hard working, honor roll students like Mr. Roberts. When this kid can concentrate solely on baseball he will do nothing but get better, and he is already very good. Has the Roberts family been in contact with you and informed you that no other D1 schools came calling or are you just ASSuming that on your own?

If Meigs beats Sequoyah again tomorrow and sweeps Tyner Thursday then Meigs wins first regardless of what either Central or Polk do the rest of the way.

Let me get this straight. Meigs is the most overated team in the district but they split with Polk who is the best thing since sliced bread. What about this doesn't make sense?

Absolutely certain that 3A is as high as it gets in Tennessee. We ain't playing football.

Was that baseball game not played at Polk Co.? If you can't defend your on turf then quit complaining and making excuses.
