  1. This discussion is a mute point. It now turns into what do we do now that it has passed. The T$$AA has past this and other rules that limit practice time and games per season. Limits the number of players on a summer team, whether they play, or just practice. There is also a longer dead period. This should make all the "lesser commited" players and parents happy. Now everyone can not practice, not work to get better, and still compete with those that "want to". And as a parent, I'm "TICKLED PINK" that the T$$AA has decided to tell me how to raise my kids, and what they can and can't do during their off season. Silly me. I thought that I had the right to make these decision on my own. Personally, I can't wait for the law suit to be filed. I'll pitch in the first donation to the legal fund to have this over turned. Just where do I send the check? http://www.murfreesboropost.com/news.php?viewStory=3055
  2. Central has gone 8 deep in the first two games. And to be honest, I can't tell any difference in which 8 are in. It's going to be a tuff one to call. I think that the team that can control the pace wins the game. McMinn HAS to run a slow paced game, or risk having to get into a weak bench. Central will be running the floor and doing the "border-line nasty" full court press from start to finish and try to get McMinn into a running game. None of Central's girls will be on the floor for more then 4-5 min before they get a rest. McMinn will have to keep their starters on the floor with only a mins rest. Close game at first. Central pulling away at the end. You also have to figure in the fact that Central's girls have not lost at home in over a year. I think Central wins both matches, home and away.
  3. The next game for McMinn and Central is each other. There's been alot of finger pointing, accusations, speculations, charges, and that's just during the summer. Anyone got a prediction for this game? I say low scoring, close game at half, with Central running away in the second half. What do you think?
  4. I believe that the PG you're talking about is still there. but she played wing alot last night. They also had a post that looked good at times, but she didn't get enough touches to be effective. Chatt. Christ. has some good players, but looked like they weren't ready to play tonight. McMinn Central plays them again there Dec. 16. My money says it'll be a closer game and they will be a better team. BUT, Central is still young (1 senior and 4 sophomores on starting team) and going to be getting better with each game as they learn to play as a team, plus, one of Central's players broke her hand before the season and saw limited playing time before the hand started bothering her. She'll be back by then. I expect a tougher game in Dec.
  5. Not to split hairs about the two madison's, but I think that the Lee will be a faster help to the team based on her stronger team play. Williams came from an elementary team that played more individual ball. Williams is good, and defense is the easiest for her to learn as far as team play goes, because all it takes is desire. And she has that in aces. But she has to learn some team offense, which I have no doubt she will, but it'll take her some time to get that under control. Lee is stronger at team play. If she has a weekness, it is that she plays like the teammates on the floor. When she playes varsity ball, she looks great. But when she plays jv, she lackes alittle. I think it's just her youth showing. Give her some time on the floor, and she'll learn to be a leader at both levels. It's not that she can't, that's for sure. Just needs some time to feel comfortable. Purky is the other freshman. She is good enough to be on the varsity squad, but is stuck behind some other pretty good post on the team. But I think that she has "Mullinax" potential.
  6. JBN I guess your from Meigs, so I was going to ask. How's the coach doing? I heard that he was having some health problems again. It's also good to hear someone bragging on him. I'm not sure that I agree with "the best coach in the district" part, but I think he's a good coach and will get the Meigs girls back to where they used to be...if everyone will leave him alone. I've heard rumblings from Decatur that some don't like him. It would be a shame to get rid of someone like him. He's good. And perhaps this year when CHS comes to town, you'all won't "throw light bulbs" at the girls. haha.
  7. Of the record that I could find, Coach Morgan is the 9th winningist coach in the state, and that is all time. Which includes A, AA, and AAA. Take out the coaches that are retired like Coach Smitty from Bradley County and a couple of others and he moves up to 6th winningist active coach. Again, that is ALL schools in TN that is governed by the TSSAA. Put two silver balls along with that and you have a great coach. Yes, THAT record speaks for itself. There isn't a school anywhere that wouldn't be tickled pink to have him coach their girls. I know I am. But, lets not look at the past... Let's look at this year. I'll put this years record up against any other school's that you can find. The next three or four seasons for that matter.
  8. Stone Memorial Alcoa McMinn Central Livingston Acad. Ezell-Harding Loretto Hill Crest Obion Co. I'm not that familiar with the teams in the west. Just took a stab at it.
  9. Hey, it's just a game. And yeah, they are some great girls. As far as I know, the girls are great young ladies. But I have different feelings about the coaches. Course that's just me, and my kid doesn't have to play for them. So, if they can stand him all year, I can for two games.
  10. How does everyone see the district shaping up? 1. McMinn Central 2. Tellico Plains 3. Tyner 4. Polk Co. 5. Brainerd 6. Sequoyah 7. Sweetwater 8. Meigs Co. 9. Boyd Buchanan
  11. I've not had a chance to talk to any of her family, but did get to talk to Madison some during the summer, and agee with you. She seems to be a super young lady. She's going to be a great addition to the team, and I think she will be seeing lots of time on the floor to give some rest and to cover for foul trouble. She plays alot like my favorite player. When she gets use to the offense, she's going to be double tuff. And about G.J. If it came from her dad's side, it's just because he grew up so close to Calhoun. Tell yours we'll be seeing her at T'Dub next Sat. if our son doesn't have a game.
  12. WAIT!!!! There's more to schools then athletics??? Ha Ha, just joking. No one has said it, but I will. There is something wrong, BAD WRONG, with the program at McMinn. I know that the players at Central would walk through walls of fire if C. Morgan or C. Young just pointed at it. And the players at WV hang around C. Tucker all summer and think the world of him. But I don't see or hear that from McMinn players or families. In fact, the families that I know have very little to say good, if anything, about the women's coaches at McMinn. I feel for the girls that play at McMinn. That is one of the best classes of girls to come thru any school around here in a long time, but they have nothing to show for it. The skill is on the floor, the only other thing that I can think of that needs to be looked at is the coaches. If they want to win, they are going to HAVE to make some changes. I only get to watch them play twice a year, but last year in one game that I watched, the game was lost by the coach. Pure and simple.
  13. K. Hearn tore her ACL playing soccer. G. Jordan broke a bone in her hand boxing dash boards. That's all the injuries that I know about, but G. Jordan will only miss the Hall of Fame Games, if she misses those. I'm afraid that K. Hearn will miss her senior year. Prediction: Get your reservations to the "Boro" now. Shoot. Go ahead and get them for the next 3 years. This team is loaded for bear and I only know of one team that will be able to beat them, and that is themselves. There are 9 girls on this team that would be a starter on ANY of the teams in our area. AA or AAA. They are good. The tuff part is going to be to chose who is the starting 5. I think there will be some seniority honored by C. Morgan at the start of the year, but don't let the first game starting 5 fool you. This team is young, VERY young, and the line up at the end of the year will reflect that. Speaking of starting 5. I feel more confident picking the NCAA men's BBall champs for 2020. I can tell you this. If ANY of the girls think that they are assured a starting roll, they are mistaken. And it's not that there are no stars. It's that there are maybe 8 or 9, maybe more. If these girls can keep their prides in check and play team ball, there will be few (VERY FEW) teams out there that can stay on the floor with them. I've not named names or "picked five", but heres one name to remember. Madison Williams. You may not know her now, but I promice you, you will by the end of the year. She is a defensive tornado that plays with LOTS of heart. Reminds me of my favorite player
  14. Pigeon Forge and Chatt. Christian has a tuff team to play. McMinn Central. @ Pigeon Forge (14th), and Chatt. Christian (17th) at Central. Let the games begin!!!
  15. t'noD teg trams htiw em, I wonk erehw uoy evil. Tough luck with the Fire this weekend. But they played some good teams and didn't loose to any by more the 6 points, and they led most of the way, just weren't able to close. NEXT TIME!!!
