  1. I just wanted to set a few things straight and get out how I felt about it. I searched for posts about Clinton, and they were all negative and about how Clinton is only about politics...it comes down to football. And Catlett wasn't winning, bottom line. If it was up to some of the players, Ingle would have been head coach 2 years ago. All I know is I had some of the coaches as teachers, and I didn't like them as a person, so I can imagine how that would be magnified by be yelled at on the field by them. You have to have trust in your coach, and it doesn't hurt if you can get along with the coach. Shattuck is a great guy. I'm sure he'll be able to pull some students out of the hallway and get them playing. Also, something else that hurts is when your players leave to go to other schools because things aren't going their way winning wise. If everybody that went to CMS went CHS, we would more than likely be winning in just about every sport, if not winning then we would more competitive. I'm not going to mention names, but 2 "all-stars" from the Oak Ridge girls basketball team last year(One was a freshman starter for the Kentucky Lady Wildcats, and the other could have gone anywhere...she probably broke a bunch of scoring and rebounding records) went to CMS, and there were more that went to AC...recruiting and leaving has hurt us a lot. What can you do?? Play on and don't complain about it. It makes it even better when you beat them.
  2. I'm not sure if Shattuck has cleaned house or not...Clinton's Site...I'll warn you now, it's not good. Hey RebelRaider, if you're going to insult us or put us down, get it right...we were 0-9. Cherokee didn't field a team, or that game was cancelled or something happened. Maybe we should stick to basketball since we beat your Rebels in Region and sent you home. Shattuck was a coach at Oak Ridge, but went to HS at Clinton. His family lives here as well (I believe). I expect more players to be playing this year...that's the only prediction I can make right now. We had 8 seniors last year, only 8. There will be many more next year. Everytime I see Shattuck at games or in the hall, he's asking people to come out to practice and play. He seems very excited about the new position. AC and OR may walk over us again this year and next year, but when Shattuck gets his system rolling, and the middle school players get to where they play, we'll be back. Our middle school team only lost 1 game last year I believe. It's looking up for the Dragons...even though I'll be at UT (hopefully that program will shake off the problems as well) for the next 4 years.
  3. I am a senior at CHS, and as I will not be able to be at some of the games next year, I am still excited because of the new start we have. I have met Shattuck a couple of times, and I can see that he is great with kids. He sat in the student section with us during a couple of games and yelled with us. When we weren't being loud, he would yell at us and tell us to be loud for the team. I'm sure he has even more passion to him about football. In my high school career, we won a total of 7 football games...7...Germantown won 14 games last year alone. I know you can't compare Clinton to Germantown, but it was time for a change. I hear all these people talking about the politics and all this bad stuff about Clinton. I didn't realize so many of you went here and knew EVERYTHING that went on. I am being very positive about this situation, because what's the point of being negative? What's that going to help. What's done is done, and I feel we received a very good coach in Shattuck from Oak Ridge. Clinton is a very proud community who takes pride in their sports, and when a team is down for so long, as the football team has, people get ancy and want change. You can blame it on politics or whatever you want. Do you expect people in the community to just sit back and say "Well, looks like another down year for us...let's wait until next year." No, most of them wanted change. So did a lot of players I talked to. It's not like we haven't had good talent to play with...Matt Lopez (who started a few game at UTC before hurting his knee), Blake Sharp (All-Region), Jesse Rodd, Bo Pebley (Tusculum), Chad Acres, Dameon Splawn, Jesse Souder (before he hurt his knee in the first game)...the list goes on. A lot of our good players were in the stands because they didn't like the system or whatever reason (I don't know if that's right or not, but that's how it goes) I believe it was time for a change, and we got it. Now it's up to Shattuck and the Dragons to make the Community a believer and get back to the top. I'm behind you all and will be supporting you. Once a Dragon, always a Dragon!
  4. They can get it mixed up, because Powell isn't in Anderson County. They see that it's in Knox County and assume it's in Knoxville. It does say "Knoxville's Finest" on the sign though.
  5. "A simple yes would have worked...but." - Billy Madison This is what I thought of when I read your post...except Billy says no in the movie...still the same concept.
  6. My name is Tyler....and I used to have a mean curve and fastball in Little League...Ok, Tyler Powell gets the win over me.
  7. Skeet Skeet Skeet!!! Haha I thought about putting Prince quotes for my signature... "Eat your grapes, b...." "Blouses win" "OOOK" "Will this reflect upon my frequent flyer miles? WHAAT? WHAAT? WHAAT? OOOK!" Woo, I'm done now.
  8. Since when is 3 people considered one person??? If 3 people are in on a play, it's a TEAM effort, not an individual effort. If there's a grounder to 2nd and he flips it to the shortstop and then he throws the runner out at first for the double play, there's more than just 3 people. If you count the catcher, there are 6 people involved in one play (pitcher, hitter, catcher, 2nd, shortstop, 1st). Baseball is definitely a team sport. You can have the best pitcher in the world, but if you have players on your team that can't hit, you'll never score any runs, therefore never winning. Sorry STATEment, but I had to reply to this guy's post.
  9. Actually...you're not friends with me. And I actually go to Clinton (like I was supposed to), so I'm more into the situtation. The point is not that we would have beaten Halls if we had all our players in, the point is that we were missing more players and more things were going on than "CAROLJEAN" said. 2 were at Murfreesboro, (because we were at state and you guys were sitting at home practicing) 1 was in Florida and another missed some games with a death in the family. I don't know the type of person Alvin Taylor is, but it seems like a coach wouldn't put a team down that he's invested time in.

Wow, someone woke up on the negative/critical side of the bed this morning! :justwrestle:
  11. Clinton fans were on Spring Break as well and we had a decent amount show up.
  12. How do you break your big and middle toe, but not break the toe inbetween??? I broke my little toe while running on my boat...my toe hit the seat and bent it back...I had a game the next day, so I know what playing like that is like.
  13. I don't doubt they will be back to State next year with Prince. I hope they do win (if my Clinton boys aren't in it)...but all I have to say is look what happened to Chamique(spelling??? ) Holdsclaw when she tried to win her 4th...
  14. Orange Uniforms I agree...these orange uniforms are much better than the black ones we pulled out for State. It seems like everyone has that style of jersey, but the orange ones were a little different. The black ones we had were looked like our JV team. Someone said they didn't like black and orange together...What?? I find it's easy on the eyes.
  15. I believe Guesswho is from McMinn County...he made a comment about being in their student section during basketball and "tearing" our student section apart. I made a post back to him, but he never replied. Oh well. Who knows what kind of difference one player makes. If you put a fielder into a new situation he's not use to, there can be errors that don't usually happen with someone who's used to that position. We'll see what happens next time, ACCougar. Hey STATEment, at least we're consistent, right?

I'm sorry you don't have a sense of humor, and you get mad at people who are not serious all the time. A moderator, really?? Why didn't I see your name in the Moderator list??? Don't joke around or CoachT will kick you off for having fun...give me a break.
  17. Hahaha....are you guys serious?? Don't get mad because you're not part of the joke. "That almost makes me sick because im a die hard Cubs fan and I played Clinton and nobody to me really stuck out. Matter of fact..." blah, blah, blah. Did you think I was serious?? I'm trying to liven things up in this baseball room...It's dead!! Hey Dragonz...calm down man. Wanna go shoot to relieve some of the stress? Tomorrow at 10:30 so the cop can run us off again.
  18. Wow...this seems like a very bad situation for a county. I don't even know where Macon County is, and I don't know the history of their athletics. Madcow, I think part of the point of these people being mad over their coach being "relieved" is the type of person he is. Most everyone has gotten on here and said how great of a coach he is, but more importantly how great of a person he is. Except you Madcow. You even went as far as to say "Also I have heard from several people that he is a smart @## and that they cant stand to be around the guy." Quite a contrast. You came straight on here and argued about basketball politics. I'm not going to say I have the answer, I don't know if you should bring the integrity or likeableness into the picture. Also, I don't know if you should give a "great" coach another year after a 1 win season. Maybe it just wasn't the right fit for him. Once again, I don't have the answers. But it seems like you guys are arguing over different things. At least partly. You're right, winning isn't everything. It's more than that. But that is why they pay someone to run a basketball team...and if an AD expects results right away, the job isn't safe. Maybe this Prock guy will take off, and Coach Smith can come back and try again next year.

Clinton Dragons: Murray Fagan - 15 Terry Coffee - 10 Kurt Jenkins - 17 Johnathan Alderson - 13 Were are the rest of you guys at??? All these dingers came in the first 6 games
  21. Woooo!!! Anytime you can get a win over OR (especially us at Clinton) it's a good thing. Just too bad I had to wizzork for this one. What does that make us now? Oh, oh, 2-0 this year against OR??? Feels good. I'll tell ya, that Fagan kid?? What a talent. Heard Stanford AND Cal-State Fullerton were offering a FULL ride to him, but the Cubs are about to sign him in May, right after he walks the line. Hey DragonzBaseball11...who am I??? "I had an outfielder in '67...this kid could bench press a rhino with 3 1/2 Somalian kids on top of it...he played Left, Center and Right at the same time for us...0 errors and 312 throwouts...his batting average was .642 with 72 home runs, and 416 RBI's, with only 2 strikeouts...not bad considering he had a fractured femur, was partially blind because a ninja star was thrown in his eye, and he played with only 2 toes on his right foot" That's right!!! It's Coach Voz!!! Good luck in Chicago next year!! "Wanna come over and ... .....???" - Larry
  22. I would rather watch high school and college games more than NBA. The only time I'll watch NBA is if there is absolutely nothing on tv, like this last week. I watched a little of the Pacers-Mavs and Lakers-Kings game. I don't mind watching the rivalry games (LA-Sac...others), but the other games I lose interest in. In high school, you have classes with the guys on the team. So you can become more involved and gets a lot more personal. At least it's that way with us. I know it's like that in college as well. In NBA, you don't have as many momentum swings. Usually, if a team shoots lower than 30%, they lose. Not so in HS or College. You never know what to expect in pre-professional ball. If Reggie Miller gets an open look at a 3, it's goin in more often that if someone in high school gets the same shot. You never can tell what's going to happen. I loved going to all of Clinton games, and even made it to a UT game (T. Tech) this year. I'm glad I missed all the SEC games UT played on the road...Ouch...What happened? Didn't we start off like 8 or 9-0? I know Nebraska was the first team to beat us because we shot 27%...Ouch again...So in conclusion, HS or College ball is for me.
  23. Thanks, if only I could put that effort into my Accounting homework
  24. I knew that it ranked rank the teams on the entire season. I also realized that our 11 losses kept us out of the top 10. But 4 of our losses came out of state, and 3 of our wins did as well. I don't how this affects us. I didn't mean to say those rankings were bogus. I really appreciate CoachT replying back and explaining...Opperman as well. I know it seems like all I do is complain about these things, but I really am thankful that there is a site for Tennessee sports fans to gather and talk. CoachT, thanks for working on this site, keep it up! You won't see me complain about the rankings anymore.
  25. I checked the Clinton ranking...again....and it says we are now 18th. I know many of you think I'm complaining about this, and it really doesn't matter. I guess I just don't understand. I realize that these rankings are formulated by Strength + Success, which leads to my conclusion that these are bogus. BC is 1st? I know they are a great team, top 3 no doubt (911, please don't yell at me again), but they didn't make it to the championship. That's like saying Michigan or Florida State is #1 in the College rankings. White Station is 16th , Oak Ridge is ahead of DB , Glencliff and White Station ...Once again, I guess I just don't understand. White Station won, right??? Doesn't that make them 1? Numero Uno? Maybe what I'm asking for is a list of rankings that is not based on Strength + Success. Hopefully, that would make a lot more sense. How can White Station's schedule ranking move them down so far if they only lost 2 games???
