Well McMinn will have it to do. Marshall County truly goes 6 deep. Six players that would start on any team in AA. I think this game will be close at tip off. Then Marshall crushes them on their way to the State Championship. Remember Marshall? they are the state runner-ups from last season who did not lose a player from last years team. It does not matter who wins the other bracket ....silver is all they will get. Region 5 Better than the West. Good Luck tigeretts. 2 to go!

Have to say that I told you all out west that Marshall County was tough. All year long the folks from the West and the Uppercumberland have shown Marshall County no respect. I have defended them all year as the State Runner Up headed back to the Finals and the Championship. Congratulations on an easy win and good luck in the next round. Remember Marshall tigeretts, you have to play each game, one at a time and don't take anyone for granted.

Station Camp is more than what you expect. Station camp by 9

No Problem The Game started out with both teams hitting a couple of lay-ups, after that Ezell Could not put one in the basket. The only player who had a great shooting night for Ezell was Earps. Tia Hambrick was stellar on defense for Ezell. The game was close at half, acouple of points. Giles played a 1-2-2 zone that gave Ezell tons of open three looks. They just could not hit them. For the game I was told Ezell was 5 of 28 from three land. The top three scorers for ezell got clear shots after shots and could not hit them. The press gave Giles trouble and giles made lots of turnovers. But when a team can't hit the open look. What do you do. Giles got a rebound with about 8 sec left in the third and a guard threw up a runner that went it, it gave giles a 9 point lead. Ezell came back and cut the game to four then the game went back and forth. Ezell was 1 of 4 from the ft line and that cost them as well. With a two point giles lead and giles at the ft line, about 9 seconds left, giles got the rebound and Vee young was fouled, it was Ezells 10th so she got 2, she banked the first one in and missed the second, McAlister was able to get off a decent 28 footer that banged off the rim. I guess its their turn to start spring break. I would like to congratulate East lit, way to go Coach Ellis and Coach PC, for the record I did pick east in this game after seeing Lewis play, I thought Lewis would have problems inside with East. Good luck over in Spring Hill on Monday. Marshall will play you man to man, full court to start. then back off a bit just to press you in the corner's after your cross the half court line. The east lit players and coaches should be proud of their effort this season.

Ezell harding could not hit a shot, Giles played a zone defense and Ezell got plenty of open looks. i think they were 5 of 28 from the 3 point line. Ezell shot less than 30 % from the floor for the game. most all of these were open looks. The three top players at Ezell just could not get the shots to go in. There was a long shot for Giles at the buzzer in the third, that was good, as well as a couple of banked in free throws at the end. Not much else to tell on this one. Congratulations east lit, I picked this one on another post. You have a tough game with Marshall Monday night. Way to represent 9AA. Good luck on monday.

Well then practice what you preach...I can assure you that I am a summer league AAU coach. The girls that have played for me are some of the best young women in this city. They play at schools all over this area. I personally find it to be antagonistic that you would take a shot at them with your comments. (except for cpa,fra,and DL who you said have class).I am the type of person that would respond to your comments about other team's players and coaches not having class, with a swift rap on the head. But, alas these coaches and great girls have been working on my soul...So what I will say to you is that I know that you just wanted your team to win and maybe you just need a hug. So maybe I see you at spring hill. NAH

Well I have been picking on Obion County and GC all year. So let me say that I do expect both teams to make it out of region and into the state tournament. Out of all the blah blah blahing that has been going on all year. The one consistant thing I have heard is GC and OC are two of the best. And just for the rest of the season I will agree. But everyone comes to play in the Tournament. Congrats and good luck on the road to the tournament.

You were right on until you said Cannon county by 3 over station camp. This is the one team that might just cause one of the 7-AA teams not to go to region. I know how dare I say that all four of the teams from 7AA wont all win state. I know if you overlook them you are going home. SC +10+,

Well Mr. Gaither, enjoy your break. lol How is it that a team with three seniors gets knocked out of the playoffs the night they begin and their coach gets Co-Coach of the year. If giving east confidence to knock of Lipscomb and CPA was the cost of ezell loss. I am sure it is worth it, it sure did not cost them a thing, District and Tournament Champs. You always seem to be pushing for Lipscomb and hating on Ezell. Must just kill you to have to bow down to that other church of christ school down the road. How Mr. Gaither gets a trip to the Region? Numbers might be just a bit off: Although Kara Davis did end up with 43 tp in the tournament, she was injured early in the game against east with a knee problem and although she played the second half, she did not score her average. She ended up with 5. The pick in her place was Brandy Earps, Brandy has played most of this season in a role that made her match up with the bests post players on every team. She has done exceedingly well defending and rebounding. In most cases shutting down the posts, (look at her games against Lipscomb and Hillsboro) She is a great shooter, rebounder and defender and got recognized as all District Tournament last night at MLK. It is great when a player who plays great D, then scores a little is noticed by the other coaches. Congratulations to all the other girls!

I subbed for a coach over at Hooptown this fall for only one night and I got to meet Ebony and Jasmin, because they kept pullin 3's in my guards faces. I finally asked them their names so that in the fourth period, I could just yell out over the court for my guards: someone get on Ebony or who's guarding Jasmin. It was fun. If you two light it up, and you have the big post, your team should go far. Just keep focused on your game. Great news that you won your District, keep playing tough, and have a great Tournament season. Sharpshooter :0)

I think it was a great win for Ravenwood. Ravenwood was not in position for the win because of the great defense or offense they played. Ravenwood was in postion for the win because Hillsboro could not hit a layup or a free throw. Ravenwood did what they had to do to win and that was keep it close and hope the Hillsboro kept missing. Which Hillsboro did.

There are no similarities at all. Marshall County has three guards outside that will hit a three any chance they get. Their leader in threes 12 is right at the top of 3's per game in the state. Number 21 hit 3 last monday in the district opener to beat giles. Their posts are march 24 who is one of the best players in AA as well as a weakside post player who will post you up and hit the fall away. East is young and has yet to develop an outside shooting presence. I am not saying they cant hit one or two, but it does not compare to the rainning that Marshall will do to you. Their posts are tall and strong but there is not one yet that has developed to March's status. I am comparing Marshall from last year vs East this year. East is on the rise...but they dont look anything like Marshall did last year, now they could look a lot like them next year. but we will see. 3 and 4 is being decided tonight. They will be CPA or Hume Fogg.

This award goes to the best player in the league. Period. That would be Mcalister, hands down. 3rd leading scorer in the state ppg. Team is advancing to the regionals. In the next few years with the promising young players at MLK and East we should see the award go to a public player. The school has nothing to do with who gets the MVP. If you want everyone to be special...than no one is. There is always the ymca, where they take your money and make you all feel special. If you are reading this and want to win the mvp, then go out and work for it, or take this to the public private debate. p.s. if you took Mcalisters ppg average and multiplyed it by 1.8 she would be averageing 36.18ppg, her totals would be 3,627 points in her career, so far. Of course she does not count as 1.8 when its beneficial to her. lol

Will be a disapointing Region tournament at Haywood for 14aa. none of your teams will advance to the finals. With the upset of Northside, if you call it an upset, they will not get a second round game. If they do then 13AA is not as good as they have been billed. Northside will get blown out by Obion County +15, NS has not played a quality top 10 team this year. The 13AA tournament will be going on at Haywood as no team from 14aa will advance. Milan +15, Obion +15, Gibson County +12, westview +10, Milans upsets have kept me at about 80% in the big ones,(I took milan) but when its all on the table the final will be GC and OC. The upside for 14AA is that they will get to watch some great games at the Region Tournament.

No. I think you have an excellent team that provides matchup nightmares for most teams in AAA. I also think they have an excellent coach. The other point guard #30 sacrifices for the team, as most good point guards do, but will get you on the 3 if you let her. Youve got the Harrisons inside and I dont know the others but they drive the ball down the floor and run the offense. This is a Team effort at Hillsboro. There are plenty of good players on other teams elsewhere, they just dont have other good players on their team like Hillsboro. This team can beat you with a number of players. I focused on crouch because someone said the freshman over at ravenwood was the best player in the Region, I knew this was a slap at crouch and hillsboro, so I was simply defending her. I do think at this time she is hillsboro's best player individually, but this teams wins because of everyone...The game at Ravenwood was a Hiccup, Hillsboro beat themselves and it just means that the 2nd place team over in 12AAA wont get a second round region game. Ravenwood is not that good, Hillsboro just played that bad.

The first time I saw crouch play, she was at the pg position against a 2/3. She split the top, spun into the post, head faked, went up around the center and had to sweep out her right handed layup because the foward had fronted her in mid-flight. She flipped the ball up around the foward and banked the shot off the glass for two, then dropped back into position like this was everyday flow. This girl is a major player. Her upside is that if she continues on this path one of the top 10 colleges in the country will gladly pay her tuition, so she can shoot the round ball in their team colors. I only became a slight fan of Hillsboros after seeing her play. You can build up who you want, for whatever reason. Crouch is the real deal. I would not be suprised if someone does not try and get her signed early so that no one else gets her. She is not a one position player, and she will play a mean 3, in division 1 ball. The real upside for a college team is that she will be ready to contribute the day she arrives on campus. Good luck to Hillsboro and everyone else.

Well you must have missed the first quarter. I will agree that the upside to the freshman 64 post is tremendous. She misssed shot after shot, from two feet away in the first quarter. Hillsboro had 24 points at the half and only 10 more about midway in the fourth. The best thing that came out of this game for Ravenwood was late in the game the freshman was posting up with confidence and power against hillsboro. The ravenwood gym looks like it is brand new. I wonder what they are going to do with all the bricks that hillsboro left all over the gym. Great win for Ravenwood, way to show composure when your post was fouled out on a terrible call late in the game by the ref. Good luck The best player in this region is the guard/forward at hillsboro who got in foul trouble with 3 min left in the first and stayed out the second.

Congrats to Chelsea Brown. You have to be great to score 1,000 at Mt. Juliet. We always knew you were gonna be special. A toast to the one's that got away. We will be watching to see you progress through out the upcoming seasons. Work hard to get D-1. :0)

Both Liberty and McNairy did start their spring break last year like I said, they were overated like I said. I have not used any made up facts on any post of mine. It is interesting that you remember posts from last year, but you just joined coach t inorder to jump on in here. Let me be the first to say welcome. Did Jack Nicholson give you that last line. I think my problem with you is that the truth hurts. I know this is sports ghost getting in one last word. Hey I would be more impressed with a quote by say "Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp" or even beter how about Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday, "Hey sharpshooter where you going with that shotgun?" I more than respect page mans opinion. But as someone out doing a little scouting I would have to say that Hickman out played lewis county the entire game. The defensive stop at the end of the game was a player going straight up and a post shooting a three and floping. Its on the tape. The officiating was very interesting. It was 55 from lewis county getting in foul trouble early that helped Hickman get the lead. Towards the end the ref's let them play. at a critical juncture late in the fourth period, 55 was given a jump ball when she was bear hugging the girl from Hickman from behind. This call resulted in a poss for lewis, and 12 then hit a 3 off the screen, cutting the lead to two. Hickman broke the interesting trap that lewis was running but missed two wide open layups late. The wise girl from hickman was the difference in this game, The inbounds move late in the game off the double screen, rotating back into the middle to draw the weakside post, then dumping it down to the post on the block was a great play at a critical time, time and time again wise answerd the call. Lewis counties problem was that it looked like the only person who came to play was 55. 12 showed a spark late...but late, she also flopped alot. The lewis team missed a lot of opportunities from 3, and they really could not stop 00. It is a shame that either lewis or Marshall will not make it out of the region. I would have to give a great coaching congratulations in a losing effort to the Lewis county coach. He had his team down 10 late and continued to put pressure on Hickman. I have the game charted and both teams hit their FT down the stretch. It was great coaching that got Lewis back into the game. They turned on a light late in the game and really looked like a good team. the problem was that 00 wise and 10 from Hickman hit their free throws and answered the call. This game was called evenly...and I really did not care who won. I think that Lewis County just started playing a little to late. If its any consulation the teams coming your way from 9AA are not very good. They are young and pulled off District upsets. Marshall looked unbeatable....great game tigeretts.
