  1. lol dude...look at you trying to svck up to the "BFL". you can cut the being humble act, we all know what you really wanna say is dang, i cant believe Roger Clemens didnt throw a nono against those sorry Braves!
  2. yea your right....but we won the world series last year so i can die a happy man, alot of Redsox fans didnt get to say that
  3. i get a kick out of this...good stuff, yall keep it up! i like how the Cardinal fans think its without a doubt Albert Pujols but the Braves fans know for sure its Andruw Jones...and in reality its a coin toss, could go either way cause they both deserve it. maybe they'll share the MVP that way nobody gets shafted. i've got another opinion on the injuries that i would like to share with the cards fans and "BFL"....when you have Pujols, Edmonds, Rolen, Walker, and Sanders you can lose a couple of bats and still be ok. when you've got Jones and Jones as your only power source it hurts a little more. the Cards had guys with big league experience to replace their injured players but the Braves had to go to the minor leagues for help. and once again, i think Jones was more valuable to his team cause without him goin yard every other game they probably would have dropped out of the playoff race when Chipper and Giles were battling injuries, but that doesnt change the fact that Pujols has the better numbers so it really could go either way. ok lets get a game update in here. the bags are packed with Pujols coming up with a chance to blow this game wide open. if he's an MVP he ought to be able come up with a hit right here. and the verdict is..........they walked him. not bad though, he got a run in so he did his job.
  4. big week coming up for the Titans. the Texans are one of the worst teams in the NFL so they might be able to get their 2nd victory of the season. the Texans looked alot better last week against the Bengals than they did the first few weeks though so it wont be an easy game. coming in to the season this was the only game out of the first 6 that i thought the Titans could win so they really need this one. they are at a crucial point in the season...this is the youngest team in the NFL and if they fall to 1-4 alot of these guys will probably give up but if they win and get to 2-3 there will still be hope that they can salvage a decent season. there not a playoff team either way but as far as momentum goes this is a huge game....it could be the difference between a 7-9 season and a 2-14 season.
  5. i guess you can stop lookin for that Yankees/Redsox series. i dont think its gonna happen, but if anybody can do it its the Redsox so theres still a chance. you know what they did last year and they came back from down 0-2 to the A's in the first round 2 years ago, but this team isnt near as good as what they've had the last couple of years. you've gotta have chemistry to come out of situations like these and they just dont have it this year. they got Manny wanting to be traded, everybody turning on Schilling, Damon whining all the time....this just aint the same happy go lucky team they had last year. im a Redsox fan and im hoping for the best but hey, i can admit defeat when its time...if history repeats itself we got another 85 years to go . and about the Jones hr, i didnt say it made him MVP caliber. his 51 hr's during the regular season made him mvp caliber. he came up to bat with his team down by 3 and hit a 2 run homer to get them back in the game, thats the type of things mvp's are supposed to do, right? lol i can already hear your next smart*** remark..."so if my hero Reggie Sanders hits a 2 run hr to give the Cardinals the lead that makes him the mvp, right?"
  6. yea they are lucky to still be in this one though. normally, you give the Astros 4 runs and its over if Pettite, Clemens, or Oswalt are on the mound. and if it gets to the 9th its definitely over cause Lidge is the best closer in the NL. yea...lets give it to Reg, that will stop all this arguing
  7. well....i was right lol. and as i type this Andruw Jones goes yard to make it a 1 run ball game...sounds like MVP to me.
  8. Cardinals looked great for most of the game until they almost choked in the 9th. still, its gotta be a sigh of relief for you Cards fans to see Carpenter back in Cy Young form again.
  9. from a neutral perspective, both of yall are making valid points about why it should be Jones or Pujols. if i was gonna pick 1 player to build my expansion team around it would be Pujols. he is the most complete player in the game today, and he's even added speed this year, whats he got like 20 steals? but Andruw Jones carried an offensively challenged Braves team for alot of the season, and he is the only guy in baseball to hit 50 this year, the lone man in the 50hr club gives him an advantage in my opinion. alot of the reason Pujols scored so many more runs is because of the bats surrounding him...but of course that high ba had alot to do with it too. i think Andruw Jones deserves it but i think Pujols will get it cause he's always had stellar numbers and would already have a couple of MVP awards if it wasnt for Barry Bonds and his steroids. dang this is tough on me....as i type this my Redsox have fell behind 5-0 already and the 1st inning aint even over yet! thats what they get for bringing a Cub over to pitch, they finally get rid of their curse then they bring in a cursed pitcher, it will probably be another 86 years now.
  10. i know yall have been dying to hear my predictions, right? well here you go. AL: the Red Sox will take care of business against the White Sox. Bostons 1 weakness is pitching but Chicago doesnt have any superstar bats in their lineup like Vlad or Arod so i think the Redsox caught a break by dodging the Angels. the White Sox got where they are thanks to great pitching but down the stretch everybody struggled except for Contreras(whom struggled the rest of the year) so thats not a big advantage for them anymore. the Redsox have ruffed up the greatest closer of all time, Mariano Rivera, many times in the past year so i doubt Jenks(a rookie) is gonna feel too comfortable the first time he faces David Ortiz or Manny Ramirez with their season on the line. i think the august/early september White Sox was closer to the real thing than what we seen the first half and the last week...Red Sox in 5. the Yankees just know how to win when it counts. i hate them, i wanna pick against them, the Angels have been on a hot streak, their future Cy Young winner Bartolo Colon gets to pitch twice if needed, but i still cant pick against the Yankees and feel confident about doing so. you know...it just wouldnt feel like October unless the Yankees and the Redsox played in the ALCS. Yankees in 5. NL the Cardinals move on to the NLCS. i dont think i need to go any farther do i? however...if Carpenter keeps pitching like he did down the stretch this will be the only series they win. the Braves and Astros will be a good one. the Astros pitching staff has been amazing this year, but down the stretch it looked like Clemens' age finally caught up to him and he became hittable again. him and Pettite are 2 of the best big game pitchers out there right now, and Oswalt has had Cy Young type numbers the last 2 season, but i still like the Braves in this one. in a 5 game nailbiter, but i like the Braves. come on Tuesday!!!
  11. as much as i hate the Yankees, im still glad they are in the playoffs. it just wouldnt seem right with an epic Yankees/Red Sox matchup in October. i think the Red Sox got a gift by getting to face the White Sox instead of the Angels...just my opinion though. i cant wait...come on Tuesday!!!
  12. yall act surprised or something....this is the man who threw 48 td's last year ya know.
  13. this should give us some good debates since the MVP battles are a Cardinal vs. a Brave and a Yankee vs. a Red Sox. what makes it so difficult is the fact that Arod and Pujols are clearly the better players but Ortiz and Jones have definitely meant more to their team this year. im gonna go with Andruw Jones in the NL since he single handedly carried the Braves for a big part of the season, him being the only man to hit 50 this year helps his chances as well. the AL MVP is the big question, Arod or Big Papi....the numbers are basically the same execpt Arod has a little higher ba, but Ortiz is no slouch either cause he's batting around 300. im a Redsox fan so i cant go against David Ortiz after all he's done for this team. unless he hits a sharp decline soon he very well could go down in history as the greatest clutch hitter of all time, it seems like every time the game is on the line in the 8th or 9th he comes up to bat and he rarely lets us Redsox fans down. him being a dh shouldnt have any affect on the outcome of this award. i definitely think the fact that Arod is a gold glove 3rd baseman should help him out some but you cant take anything away from Ortiz just because he isnt out there, you cant penalize him just because he isnt given the opportunity to make plays with his glove. the edge Arod gets with his glove is negated by the clutch hitting of Ortiz so that basically puts us back where we started at, 2 guys with nearly identical stats. the Yanks clinching the AL east probably locked it up for Arod but i just dont have it in me to admit that a Yankee deserves it. my vote goes to Andruw Jones and David Ortiz. im sure i will get plenty of arguments that it should be Pujols and Arod so lets hear them?
  14. im probably the biggest loser on coacht since i have 6 teams. in my money leagues i have 2 teams that are 2-1 and another one that is still winless thanks to a pair of Packers(Javon Walker and the horrible Ahman Green). i have 3 free teams on espn that are 2-1,2-1, 3-0. anybody else play for money or do yall just do it for fun?
  15. well i was right...but i was wrong. the White Sox did rest their starters but they still managed to beat the Indians. the Indians hurt their chances tonight, the Sox only started 2 of their everyday players and the Indians still couldnt manage to capitalize on a golden opportunity. the winner of tomorrows Yankees/Redsox game clinches atleast a 1 game playoff...but if the Indians keep this up it wont matter. still think the Red Sox pitching staff will kill them? like i said, this time of year i rather have the experienced vet(David Wells) over the guy who wasnt even in the big leagues at the beginning of the season(Wang). tomorrow night is gonna be awesome...the Yankees have their top gunslinger, Randy Johnson, goin up against Bostons most dependable arm, Tim Wakefield. the Yankees have never been able to figure out Wakefield and i dont expect that to change tomorrow night either!
  16. im not contradicting myself you just dont understand what im saying. i'd rather play in the NL east than the AL east because you have absolutely no chance at making the playoffs when your stuck behind the 2 highest payrolls in baseball, but every team in the NL east had a shot at the playoffs for a majority of the season. as far as having stiff competition every night, the NL east wins that since all 5 teams are solid, but like i said, your doomed in the AL east...yes you can dominate the D Rays but your gonna get smoked by the Redsox AND the Yankees...dominate 1, get dominated by 2, that means no playoffs. NL East=toughest division top to bottom AL East=toughest division to play in for team not named the Yankees or Red Sox
  17. pssss.....the AL east would kick the NL easts *** if they played. that is by far the worst division to have to play in. your doomed from the start cause there is no gettin by the Yanks and Sox, and when your 3rd in your division that means no playoffs. the NL east is still the toughest division from top to bottom though.
  18. you wanna know what really stinks? the Whitesox have already clinched their playoff spot so most likely they will try to rest some of their guys this weekend to get ready for the playoffs, and if thats the case the Indians very weel could get the sweep this weekend and win the wildcard since the Redsox and Yankees will be goin full force in their series. i think its a big disadvantage for the Redsox but maybe they'll still pull it out. even if they Yankees clinch they still wont cut the Redsox any slack.
  19. you've got to be kidding me, the east is WAY better than the central this year. there arent any Pirates or Brewers in the east, and the banged up Cubs arent much better than those 2. the NL east may not be top heavy like the AL east but from top to bottom this is one of the most solid divisions i've ever seen. for a majority of the season all 5 teams had a realistic shot at a playoff berth.
  20. sure, not winning but 1 World Series has gotta be a disappointment, but i would be thrilled if i could watch the Redsox play in the playoffs 14 straight years. the NL East is a pretty good division too, you could take any team in that division and stick them in the west and they probably would have won 95 games this year. now i agree that i would get tired of seeing them get put out every year, but still, its quite an accomplishment to be in the postseason that many consecutive years....and unlike UCLA and the Celtics, they dont have the most talented team, they just take what they have and find a way to win. what impresses me is the fact that they can put 4 or 5 nobodys in their starting lineup and still be one of the best teams in the league, year after year.
  21. im glad he's staying at home! now if they can keep Thad here too Memphis will be set in a year or 2. Kemp should be the starter from day one cause i doubt Darius Washington will be back after this year. the Tigers finally land a kid with some character for a change.
  22. yea but that extra playoff game between the Yankees and Sox wouldnt count on their record, no matter who wins or loses they would still have the same record as the Indians. i doubt we'll see a 3 team tie for 2 playoff spots though, i dont recall ever seeing that happen. if it does happen i HOPE its the Yankee's missing out, an extra 75 mil over the next highest payroll and they are still having to fight for dear life.
  23. they wouldnt have to play a team with a worse record, if they had a better record than the Yanks and Redsox then they would be the wildcard, no playoff needed. only way Cleveland plays is if they have the same record as the Yankees and/or Sox. i think.....
  24. so are you saying you rather have Chacon and Small than Schilling and Wells in the postseason? i dont care how bad they've been, i rather have the guys with the WS experience than a couple of guys that werent even starters at the beginning of the season. just my opinion though, we'll see here real soon which team is better....i still think they'll both be in the playoffs.
  25. and he will...what you Braves fans really need to be worrying about is why Andruw Jones has stopped stroking. its like gettin to 50 was all he was worried about. he's only got 1 hr in his last 10 or 12 games.
