Powell is 8-2 in district.

I think Powell actually only has O.R. and Cambell County left in district play.

This district looks to be going right down to the 5/3 meeting between Halls- Karns. A Karns win settles it for sure, but assuming all else goes as it has so far, a Halls win could make for interesting close to the regular season disrtict standings.

Lets not call out players and make personal attacks on anybody here. we all have different opinions about players , teams and abilities. You can feel how you want but its not good to run down anybody. There are many good players in knoxville and all deserve whatever exposure that they get any way they can get it. Lets just enoy the game and keep personal attacks off these boards.

No predictions here..... who knows???? Really could go either way.

This game should be another close one. I think the rivalry has heated up a little this year with the disrict being even closer than ever. I havent heard who will pitch for Powell but I am guessing it will be Cummings since its his turn in the rotation. I look forward to a good game and hope it comes down to who plays best , not who gives away the most....errors be gone!

I agree bizazz, the last Powell -Karns game was decided on poor play in the field and it seems to be a constant this year even more than in past years ,with teams so closely matched. Its no longer good enough to have strong pitching but defense counts as well. Makes games fun to watch and district and region tournaments will be a blast! Gotta love this game.

Powell wins 8-5. Lockwood started for the Devils and left the game in the 6th with game tied. Willie Buchanan came in and took the loss. Josh Henson got the complete game win for the Panthers. The game flipped back and forth until the Panthers scored late in the game with 3 runs.

Lets get real here! many people give the same kind of time and effort to help build your high school progam for nothing! do you think your youth coaches and parents dont have the same problems and time involved that you do? the bottom line is , you chose your field, if you dont appreciate or want that responsibilty then resign.

Looks like another run rule game for the Admirals. Farragut is still playing well and Bearden has slumped of late so I think this one could get ugly!

This should be a close game. After seeing both teams this year I think Maryville probably gets the nod slightly but I wouldnt count Heritage out.

I agree the WB playing surface is excellent. The biggest problem I see is that unless your lucky enough to bring a lawn chair and get a seat behind home plate,you cant see the whole field.The bleachers are almost useless unless you get on the top three or four rows.It really reminds me of Karns ,but I do understand that the dugouts are in the process of being moved at Karns.

hey ready to rumble, the Powell over Maryville game shouldnt be that much of a suprise. Powell hasnt lost a regular season game to the Rebels in two years and put them out of the region tournament year before last.

I know there werent many hits but I am pretty sure that there were more than 2 , Most baserunners were from hit batsmen and walks.

Maryville 10-9 over Morristown East in first game and Powell 4 - 3 over Maryville in second game

It sounds to me like Campbell County is a team to consider here. After a close loss to Karns and then a solid win against Halls the cougars may be better than anybody expects.

Your right its always about money. But when it started and it lost money, nobody but Chattanooga wanted to touch it with a 10 foot pole. Then suddenly it gets pofitable and greedy cities grease the palms of the TSSAA. I agree that logistically Nashville is a great spot, but in all fairness this should be Chattanoogas baby since they gave birth to it.

I dont understand why it was ever moved from Chattanooga. That city took the Spring Fling when no one else was interested and made it an event that many enjoy. Well. actually I do understand that is was all about money for the TSSAA and its dictator Ronnie Carter , but it wasnt fair to take it from Chattanooga after they worked so hard to get it where it was.

What is going on with Central? I am hearing maybe even more players are thinking about leaving for other schools. I really cant imagine why Helton would tranfer to Powell. I dont see him being able to break into a starting infield job at Powell unless he could maybe play third base, I know that position has been a defensive problem for the Panthers so far.

It looks like it was a rough trip for the Beavers. These trips are made hoping to get some good games in, but you have to wonder what the trip has done for the confidence of the Karns team.

One of the best things about high school baseball around Knoxville is the relationships that are formed not only on the same team but on "rival" teams as well.Any injury to any athlete impacts many of us in some way.May god be with the Scruggs family and all of "our" athletes all year long.

It doesnt take much to get the creek up enough to cancel a game at Powell. I guess it would have been like Thunder family reunion with these two teams.
