  1. 2003...Most people like to think before they speak. But here is a bit of trivia for you barb...what is the greatest thing to ever come out of Greeneville? Reply whenever you can think of who or what it is.
  2. I think having your football go to the semi-finals and having some key players just getting out of football didn't help in that loss. I know the football semi-finals is not something understood by the rest of the IMAC, but it does exist, and it hurts the MoWest basketball team early in the season.
  3. After watching the Rebels dismantle my Trojans last week I don't see Hillsboro being much of a problem. I have said from the beginning that the only team that can beat Maryville this year is Maryville. I was impressed at how well Maryville played in every facet of the game. They had an offensive line where each was outweighed at least 10-25 pounds and for the most part dominated. They had an extremely balanced attack on offense and got the ball into their playmakers' hands. (And dear God can that Maples kid run.) I have seen most of the Maryville teams of the past, and this one may not have the most "talented" group of guys but they are possibly the best unit I have seen. Defensively they had the best discipline of a unit I have seen in a long time. I can't think of a time when a defensive player was out of position, and that is very hard to say in high school football. I think this will be a good game, but unless Maryville shoots itself in the foot, I don't see an upset. Good luck to both teams, but I hope the Gold Ball can stay in East TN.
  4. I will second that. I was there when they were delivered. I don't know exactly who was behind it. I'm sure it was not someone that was too very intelligent though.
  5. He was simply standing up for his teammates from a disgruntled alumni that put down this years team. Leaders defend their teams. I ,not even being from TN high, was impressed with the QB. Kid took some shots, and actually stayed in longer than I thought he would after one of the licks i saw him take. But to make the statement that he should transfer, that's bush league. Kid played his heart out that game. So did the others, and you wanna be a big and bad alumni man and kick them while they are down? Pretty classless if you ask me.
  6. It would be an even bigger losS for Morristown to have a player injured on the mess formerly known as Burke-Toney's playing surface.
  7. Careful what you wish for. I've seen the Maryville faithful roll into Motown a few times. They travel as well as the Vol Nation on away games. I wish both teams good luck, but I don't see Red Bank knocking off Maryville. These games are where Maryville players, and Coach Quarles' staff show what they are made of. And hopefully next week my Trojans and I will be on our way to Maryville. Cuz if you want to be the best, you have danged sure got to beat the best. Best of luck
  8. Haha...once again you make my points look even better. So easy to hide behind a little avatar on here and talk big and bad, and yet so easy to look dumb as you do it as well. Back to the East/West game. Anyone want to take a guess on approximately how many people will be there?? And like another poster said, if you are wanting to do something illegal, Friday night would be the night. Morristown will probably look like a ghost town from 5 pm on.
  9. My head is gonna hurt at night trying to decipher what in the heck you just wrote. I don't know about the other readers, but I feel that we all just got a little dumber in reading your comment. As for the hit that you are talking about as unsportsmanlike celebration. After the hit the two Trojans were simply chest bumping and enjoying a sack in the beginning stages of the game. Not at any point did any player look down and see an injured player and celebrate. Know what you're talking about, and then come back on here and speak your gibberish.
  10. u cant gauge how good west is against tenn high ths lost thier startin qb and it was down hill from there go east... somebody bust 90 in the chops hes arrogant I don't see how you can call someone out from behind a keyboard or a screenname. But then again I guess when you put your head on your pillow at night it makes you feel big and bad. Anyway, the reason that Tenn. High lost their quarterback was some really devastating hits by the Trojan defense. Not many quarterbacks can withstand that pounding throughout an entire game. The key to West this week against East is trying to keep containment and not let some of those speedsters in the open field. I just can't wait to watch it. I can't speak on what went on at South, but when the scores were updated there was definitely a buzz in the air about Friday.
  11. First off congrats on winning two great games. I think it is a huge testament to the city of Morristown to have both teams in the third round of the playoffs. I for one am anticipating a huge turnout, and we may need to get seats sometime around Wednesday afternoon. Just thought I'd be the first to get us a little thread started, I just hope that this forum can be halfway decent and not get to mindless, cowardly bickering. This is all assuming that the East game is final, and not another screw up like with the Maryville score.
  12. Yes, but that is simply my personal opinion. I think East is the better of the two squads. But it is high school sports, you never know which team will show up on which weeks.
  13. I think this will be the closest game of the evening. I have seen both South and East play and I will say that I believe if East plays the way they are capable of, and can prevent dumb penalties and not turn the ball over they will pull this one out. Not taking anything away from South or any other team that Mo West has played, but East is the best team that West has played thus far.
  14. Don't speak on things that you have no idea on, especially just to get yourself some message board material.
  15. Pretty soon this conversation is going to get to the "my dad could beat up your dad.." I can already see that it is well on it's way.
  16. I agree with the post that who cares as long as gold balls keep coming Maryville's way. I honestly look at the Maryville run much in the same way as the national media looks at the New England Patriots. Not flashy, no "big name" superstars, they simply work together as a team towards ONE common goal. The distractions of superstar players often cloud teams visions towards their goals (i.e. state championships.) Whether you root for Maryville or hate Maryville you have to respect the way that Coach Quarles and his assistants have made the administration and the fans buy into a system. I really and truly believe that the average fan has no idea how difficult that is to do. But to quote a great movie and a great coach in the movie Miracle. Herb Brooks told his assistant coaches that he was not looking for the "best players", he was looking for the "right players." Maryville has done this. I personally would rather have 11 guys that would never sniff a college field over 11 big division 1 recruits that are playing for the name on the back instead of the front.
  17. I'll give my two cents worth after reading these 5 pages... I have been on both ends of the spectrum, both as a player and now as a coach myself. My first instinct is to think that as a coach you would never want to have anyone have a bad word against you. But considering this is not a PERFECT world that will never happen. I do however believe that if you have a legitimate beef with a coach as a player or a parent it should FIRST be handled behind closed doors. Much in the cliche what happens in the lockerroom stays in the lockerroom. That would stop alot of the larger catastrophes of going behind others backs like I have heard on here. My second instinct is to come to this realization...If you let what other people say about you bother you...YOU ARE IN THE WRONG PROFESSION! At any given time players and or parents can change the way they "like you." Most the time "likeness" is a direct result of playing time. That's why I strive, and most other coaches strive not to be "liked"...but to be respected. Lastly, in all honesty not to take anything away from this board. Most coaches do not care what is posted on here. Especially since more than likely any football coach in the area if they are really doing their job correctly, they don't have time to check message boards. I do think that flat out bashing a coach without merit is a bad thing to do, and yes it can be a cowardly situation to bash them hiding behind a monocre on here. But it's gonna happen as long as coaches continue coaching, and fans continue watching. But in light of things that happened just last week with Cory Lidle...IT IS JUST A GAME! I myself get caught up in the winning and losing and competition...but things like that put everything in perspective quickly.
  18. There are fast food restaraunts at the exit 42 there. There are some other restaraunts about 5 miles up the road towards JC.
  19. 24-17 is not a bad prediction because as we all know when it comes to the East/ West game (in any sport) it is usually closer than what the talent would normally make it. However, I think this game will be close in the first half for sure, but the second half West should pull away because of the numbers, and also West is really good at tiring out opposing defenses with their style of offense. West- 35 East- 14
  20. Often times emails may be looked over as junk mail, and sometimes some schools may have server problems or even shutdowns of email accounts after school is out. Most coaches will respond, but not always. Alot of coaches take a few weeks off from recruiting and other baseball related activities to spend time with family (vacations, etc.) But more than likely if you contact a coach you will get a reply at some point or another.
  21. I know that he is not the only one, but I have played for Coach Young and I know he is one of the best baseball minds I have ever been around. But i can promise that he is not a coach that can be led around by the ear by the "powers that be." My whole statement is that Elizabethton will NEVER be as succsessful as they want to or should be until they get rid of the buddy system and political BS. Coach Young would be a very BIG step in the right direction.
  22. Why is Young not the kind of guy that Betsy needs? Is it because he will not put up with political BS? It looks to me like he is exactly what Elizabethton needs. I would like to see him get the job because I know how much the man loves baseball, and it would be a shame that a man with that much baseball knowledge not be able to use it.
