  1. I love to watch Cleveland play defense. They really play hard. I have to disagree with the neutral court thing, how can you call a court in Cleveland neutral. CCHS will have to bring a big crowd to match the Cleveland supporters at Bradley. Good luck to both teams it should be a barn burner..............
  2. The Seniors can only choose where they finish if they are zoned for Stone. If they are zoned for CCHS they have to finish there.
  3. Agreed! Maybe not even that good.
  4. Cumberland County Jennifer Hood signed with Tennessee Tech Casha Foster signed with Carson Newman
  5. I agree with BBALL. The Lady Jet's have alot of fire power, they need more defense to win a championship. I'll be cheering for them to go all the way and maybe the defense will come, but right now they don't have it. I have heard that Cumberland Co. BOE is planning to hard zone the high schools which means if the girls want to stick together some of them will have to change residence to be in zone.
  6. Next year when Cumberland County has two High Schools it will probably be like Cleveland is now. Players transfering back and forth. Bball will get interesting around here then. We definitely have the talent to field to girls bball teams. I don't know about other sports.
  7. That is how Cleveland went to State last year. There defense was the real deal. That is something that Cumberland County doesn't focus on like Cleveland does. It will be fun to watch the CCHS high powered run and gun offense against the Cleveland D. Last year it took them most of the season to perfect it, but when it got to showtime they were READY!
  8. I don't know all of these girls. What number was Chelsea last year?
  9. It will be hard for anybody to stay with Cumberland County this year. They really have some depth. I don't think that Pickel can take them unless Bradley has developed some support around her. I think that Cleveland lost to many seniors last year. They do play some tough D no matter what, and they are always well coached. This will be a fun season to watch in this district.
  10. I haven't seen the standings, however CCHS will be ranked #1 in this district all year long.
  11. The Lady Jets are DEEEEEEP this year. They will run people off the court this year.
  12. Yes we are getting some where this is much more civil. I agree that there are more problems than just the coach. However, I think that the coach should be able to convince the parents that what they are doing is in the best interest of the players. When the parents see the effort they will start to respect what the coach is doing. However, there will always be parents that are not pleased. That's when you tell the players when the dedication and the effort are there then the playing time will be there. There won't be any choice but to play them if those things are present. If players watch the stands then they need to sit in them.
  13. GoJets#1 I'm glad that you cleared that up. Judging from the previous posts you wrote it sure looked like mud flinging to me. (Hot shot eds) and (annointed one) thats almost offensive. Well I guess one post can take all that back. lol
  14. GoJets#1 There are parents that don't like what any coach does. It is the Coaches responsibility to sell the parents on the program as much as it is to sell to the kids. When you get that you will start to see progress. There are going to be players that fall by the way side and then players that accept challenges and excel. I don't think the players here get challenged. By parents or coaches. They are just happy their coaching. The parents are just glad they are playing. There is more to winning than just showing up. If you go to some of these "powerhouse" towns and watch pratice you won't see kids talking while the coach is talking because they are expected not to. (the parents accept this because the coach is up front and tells them to expect it.) This is just one example of many expectations that are laid out for successful athletes. You won't see kids cruising town every night. They will be in the gym, or in the weight room or on the driving range, or just whatever it takes to make them competitive. We need someone here to place these kinds of expectations on kids and parents alike if we want to compete. If we want to continue getting what we are gettin' let's keep doin' what we are doing. If not why don't we start making changes. We can start with the worst record and go from there. Maybe, administrator is trying to start a trend for the new administrator.
  15. jeller That is interesting? I heard that he was happy in his current position. Do you feel that he is qualified?
  16. I heard someone mention that one of the area elementary coaches was interested. Are any of them qualified?
  17. GoJets#1 I don't think that you want to get past any reason other than the record. I don't think it needs to go past that. Why can't Cumberland County be a hotbed for basketball talent. What do all of these other counties have, something in the water. No! They develop their talent. Something that hasn't been happening here. (one Senior returning next year) So maybe we need a change and a fire lit under our bed.
  18. GoJets#1 keep playing it off. What were your points? None that made any SENSE!
  19. rosebud it's o.k. if GoJets#1 has a little fun with the grammer and spellng. I have noticed several mistakes in GoJets#1 posts. I enjoy seeing this poster chicken out on the cold hard facts because of spelling errors. GoJets#1 still hasn't approached any of the tough subject matter that I have brought up, and probably won't. He/she is to busy pointing fingers at someone else, instead of realizing that a hard decision had to be made and it is the right decision. Now can we get on topic. Does anyone know who some of the candidates for the girls coaching position are?
  20. Oh well GoJets#1 said alot. I am going to miss the going to miss the grammer and spelling lessons or "something" like lessons. As for the real world, I live in it everyday. If I don't (notice the apostrophe) perform, I don't have a job. I bought up alot of points that I didn't get replies to. Subject matter to tough? The only thing I got from GoJets#1 is 3 out 5 substates. Usually, an admirable feat, but consider the teams played to get there this year. (previous post with no reply to the facts.) OS91 Did a parent tell you that they requested the removal of the former coach? I guess you think that an administrator that hired the coach shouldn't be able to relieve the same coach. I am sure that the administrator let's parents come in and make decisions daily. (I doubt it!) That brings me to another comment made in a previous post. (with no reply)The administration is there through the whole school year, including the basketball season (practice, games, etc.) I would just about guarantee that before this decision was made there were a few more things considered besides the record.
  21. Well, if we are going to complain about having to play powerhouses, maybe we need a coach that will voice their opinion about the scheduling. AA and A teams look alot more powerful when they are playing AAA teams that start 2 to 3 freshmen every year. This county must have one whale of a feeder program, or maybe players aren't developing like they should once they are in the high school program. Christmas tournament? Who did the Lady Jets play? It must have been several teams that couldn't even compete with our AA and A programs in Tennessee. We won all of those games. Why would a coach under this much scrutiny even want this job? Sources tell me the that "new" coach decision will be made by the new principal. You are really stuck on this good ole boy thing. Did you get left out of that category? I think that is why the previous girls coach was hired in the first place. Isn't AB from Cumberland County? So if your inside as deep as you say you are, who are some of the candidates that will be applying for this "new" position? Inquiring minds want to know.
  22. I believe that traveler2 was referring to Cookeville 22-11 not needing a coach. I thought your were the one talking about competeing in AA and A ball not me. I didn't know that it mattered who it was. The way you posted it sounded as if AA and A should be inferior to AAA. Evidently that is not the case with Cumberland County Girls program. Last time I checked most high school teams travel together to play teams it works out better finacially. I guess Buck made the schedule out by himself. (for padding) If you are so deep in the mix what are you doing on a message board defending your ideas? Why aren't involved in the decision making. A EE with a masters and EDS should be able to handle it. lol By the way has this job even been posted yet? Did LM apply? Who else?
  23. I saw livingston play in the sectional against Walker Valley. Katrina has my vote if I had one.
  24. You fell right into that one. Coach Buck has also coached a State Cahmpion before he came to Crossville. His record is better against the same AA and A teams that the girls play than the girls record is. So what? Night in night out his teams are competitive, regardless of the talent. He demands it and motivates his players to give it. Now back to the topic of discussion (new coach) know any candidates?
