Katrina Beechboard will be leaving Freed-Hardeman University and giving up basketball. In the seven games she played at FHU she led the team in steals, blocked shots and rebounds and was the second leading scorer. She will finish the semester at Freed-Hardeman but will not continue playing basketball.
FHU Coach Dale Neal said, "This was Katrina's own decision. She told us that she is just "so burnt out" and that after 13 years of playing basketball, "she has just lost the desire to play" which she knows inhibits her from performing at the standards of her own, as well as our, expectations. She felt that since she has no desire to continue playing basketball, it wouldn’t be fair to herself, her coach or her teammates to continue. We hate to see her go. She is a very talented player but other issues are taking priority in her life at this time, and she has decided to return home and take classes at Tennessee Tech next semester and then continue her education at UT Knoxville. Basketball is not in her future plans. We, at FHU, think a lot of Katrina. We will miss her and sincerely wish her well as she continues to seek God's will for her life."
