  1. Call TSSAA and they will tell you. The number is 615-889-6740.
  2. I don't know her name but she was an assistant at Farragut if I recall correctly.
  3. TNVOL63.............it's political. And to tnscooter your comments are correct, there were tryouts in the fall which are considered illegal by TSSAA rules. According to Mark Duff, new Halls High Principal & former AD at Powell High, he does think the final selection was made by the coach however he said further evidence showed him other schools and coaches allow & participate in this illegal selection process so he allowed this to stand.
  4. Here's who's gone from Halls. Of course they lost Emilee McConkey 2nd basemen and Mackenzie Loy SS because they graduated and moved on to Austion Peay and Tusculom. The 3 seniors not returning are Kristin Simmons, Catcher, bats 5th (RBI leader on the team), Nicole D'Apice, Outfielder, bats 3rd (RBI leader on the team), Natalie Marshall, 3rd basemen. The 3 Juniors not returning are Whitney Key, Outfielder and speedster, Brittany Webb, 1st basemen, 4th batter freshmen & sophomore year (led the team in RBIs both years), all district freshmen year, Aftin Forsythe utility player. The 3 Sophomores not returning are Lindsay Bridges, Pitcher (pretty close tie for #1 pitcher on the team), Staci D'Apice, outfielder, lefty slapper with great wheels, Rachel Moretto, outfielder. All of these girls were on the Varsity team so you see 11 varsity players are gone. The only starting varsity player left is Junior, Sasha Russell, lefty pitcher. Coach 23 you hit the nail on the head!!
  5. For the most part I agree with your post. However, what about when a coach intentionally throws a game and literally tells a player he is doing so by putting them in a position they have never played or practiced in. What do you suppose that child just thought of themselves? Or what about when you have a set of twins on your team and the coach makes them change jerseys so the one that has already been used for substitution (and can be done only once) can play again. What did it tell the one that had to give their jersey up or better yet what has that coach just told an entire group of children......it's okay to cheat as long as you get away with it? Yet it continues, what about when the coach repeatedly tells the entire team "You have no tallent but don't go tell your parents I said that". Here's another one, the coach tells the players they are fat or get your "Frickin' Big Body out of the way!" or other weight comments even if he knows a player has a eating disorder like beleimia. Are parents and players suppose to sit by and support that type of coach and tactics without standing up for their child and most importantly what is morally right? I don't think so! But beleive me there are coaches out there that think they are God and that they are untouchable. As parents we have never questioned playing time, we beleive our children should perform to earn their spot. If for some reason they have always been starters and they suddenly stop playing because the coach decides he doesn't like the fact that player's parents don't support his antics he takes them out we still left that to our child to question playing time. So please be aware when you are complaining about some parents because they don't support the coach there may be circumstances your are not aware of. Don't get me wrong I agree a parent and player should show respect to the coach and their authority, however that same respect is due to the players and parents from the coach!!!
  6. My daughter went to this camp you are referring to in December and she had quiet a few coaches give her personal attention. A few of them had other coaches one in particular, Ralph Weekly come check her out. I do think there were alot of girls there & I am sure money was made because of it, however every player must take every opportunity they have to call attention to themselves. We didn't think it was a waste of money or time for our daughter and if it made UT a little money while they were at it then so be it. That's why they have camps to raise money, help those that want help and sometimes find a diamond in the rough. This is just my opinion I am not trying to start any arguments in anyway. But in my opinion this was worth it for my child. All camps may not be, but that's up to the parent and the player to decide what best benefits them from attending each and every camp.
  7. Didn't Kingston beat Lenior City last night to take the district?
  8. VTEC, thanks for sending me the info you had! I appreciate that, it will help us moms out. Also, have any other teams other than Bledsoe dropped out?
  9. Has a schedule for this tournament ever been posted? I know a lot of parents sure would like that information so they can make plans for leaving work in time to get to the games. Not to mention getting the players out of school in time to get there.
  10. I happen to be our Booster Club President, in talking to our A.D. at the high school I am told the school gives us no money for the softball program or any other athletic program at the high school. He said the umpires would either be paid from the gate money, the boosters or the softball account at the school. Whatever is left from the gate goes to the general athletic fund. The softball account at the school is the money we raise during homecoming. So essentially, the boosters are paying that. Our uniforms, tournaments and what ever our coach purchases comes from the school account. Once again money we (the boosters) have raised. We do have some other methods of fund raising that seem to do well for us. I don't see how other schools allow free admission to the games. Who is paying for umpires, uniforms, equipment needs & tournaments. Is it the school or the booster club?
  11. The Karns / Halls game for today was cancelled yesterday.
  12. Brittany Webb (sophomore) @ Halls went yard in a scrimmage Wednesday night at home. Of course it's just a scrimmage and the real test is when the season opens, but hopefully Coach 23, it's just the beginning for this year.
  13. Who are some of the best hitters in the area to keep on eye on this year?
  14. Okay so you still can't get to the point..............you singled out the 11 year old team and all I was doing was saying your statement simply was not true. I don't preach because I am a female and I don't beleive in female preachers. I won't say the language because it's very vulgar and I don't use that kind of language. You are correct when you say the coaches and parents are not right there with them, they aren't. (We have to take our kids at their word unless we know they have lied before, only then would there be reason to doubt them.) I never said your children lied, nor do I think my child lied. I also never said nothing ever happened. Once provoked, any human being will say things they don't mean! In addition, I do pray for those I don't know including coaches that take their precious time to help mold a child they might not even know. In closing, since you seem to work so closely with young people I will include you in my prayers!
  15. AERoadrunner, I did personally hear profanity from the players off of the field and my child had no idea I heard it. After the game he told me the things the players were saying on the field to them. I can assure you it has nothing to do with AE being a prodominately black team, Halls is a prodominately white team, so I am not sure why you even made that comment... it is not relavent, the color of someone's skin is not the issue. However, I do know this, God created us all equally and loves us all the same and that is what is taught to my child both at home and at church. Granted our team wasn't the best last year but you shouldn't count them out the following year. Do you realize how discouraging that can be to a child if they were on this site reading it? As involved as you seem to be with the development of a young person's life, I am sure you understand that. In addition, the couple of games they did win last year were major accomplishments for our team. We had maybe 5 kids on the team that had played at least 2 years or more, for the most part, this was most of the boys 1st year ever playing. I don't think any team would have faired so well in our same situation. All I am saying is don't count a team out before it has started........I wish all teams the best this coming football season! GO RED DEVILS!!!!!

Did Caitlyn Ryan hit 3 homers in district play or is that for the year?
  17. NO, Powell didn't cheat at all..........they were given the Halls game by the umpires. Read the reporter's (that is not prejudice to either team) words in the community papers. I personally know several girls on that Powell team (in which I think alot of) and the team did not play well enough to win that game. Did you see the game? What about the Clinton game were it was the bottom of the 7th inning and it was tied 0 to 0, those Clinton girls deserve some credit for that game, don't you think, # 6 in the district playing (at that time) #1 in the district . Powell won with a couple of good hits, but don't think they weren't nervous, because it was 0-0 against Clinton. True you have to hit the ball, but it sure does make it a lot easier to set yourself up on the plate and in the box when you know what's coming and where. I suppose if either of the Central or Halls fans did that, fans from Powell would have something to say about it! So what it boils down to is......let the girls play ball and let them figure out where the ball will be and see if they can hit it!!!!!
  18. "Finally, it was rumored (and I have no confirmation of this) that one of the Powell fans was sitting around the backstop tipping off the Powell hitters about what pitch was coming." Yes there was a Powell fan telling the girls what pitches were coming. He did this very same thing the last 2 or 3 innings of the Halls game. I saw it and heard it with my own eyes & ears. He sat on the 1st row far right behind the backstop. The 1st Central - Powell game followed the Halls - Powell game that night. GREAT JOB Lady Bobcats, we are very proud of you all and wish you the best of luck in Regions. You will represent our district well!! GET 'ER DONE KANDICE!!!
  19. "all of that other crap can happen, but all that matters is who comes out with the W in the end" quote by RebelRaider. I find it funny Rebel Raider, you don't take your own advice on this one. Who won........Maryville or Heritage? I think it was Heritage wasn't it. And for the record Blind Squirel or not, may I quote you again............"all that matters is who comes out with the W in the end" I think that Alcoa is not given enough credit for their efforts. Brittany and Whitney keep pitching hard ladies you will only get better. To the rest of the team I don't even know, play hard and give it your all.
  20. Guts00, if you are 28 you should have enough sense not to degrade teenage girls by saying they stink! Grow up! There are girls that have been blessed with more talents than others but as long as they are giving it their best they have acheived their goal. To the girls of Alcoa give it your all and keep playing ball!

Whitney Hickam from Central hit one over last night for 2 runs in the Halls - Central game.
  22. Wondering if anyone caught the Clinton - Powell game? If you didn't, you missed a nail bitting game! Clinton was on with their game last night and Powell was nervous. They only won by the skin of their teeth in the 7th inning. I know it only takes one to win but who would have thunk it? Clinton has improved their game a 100 % compared to what I have seen in the past from them this year! Nice effort last night ladies!
  23. Campbell County plays Clinton today at 3:00 Halls plays Central at 5:00 tonight. Those 2 I know for sure. There are 2 more games @ 7:00 & 9:00. Not exactly sure what's going on with those two. I think Karns & Oak Ridge will be playing one of them.
  24. "they have already locked the poll about me after 11 posts" And you are proud of this REBEL RAIDER? That sure isn't something I would brag about! Accept with dignity & class (even after all of your remarks on various threads), MARYVILLE LOST!!! The point is Heritage won!! No matter how many errors..............they won!
