Rutledge won the tournament going 3-0 and beating Grace Christian 61-43 Saturday night.

Pioneers pull away from Seymour last night for a 56-39 win. McBee had 19 and Merrell 14 for Rutledge.

Pretty boring game, McBee led Rutledge with 19 and Merrell had 14. Good road win though. Claiborne has one big Kid that looked pretty good.

Rutledge wins by 10 over Gibbs last night after almost letting a big lead get away. Gibbs played a Diamond and 1 on McBee, but he still scored 19. Merrell had 21 and Humohrey had 10 points and 12 rebounds. McBee also had 7 assists and 6 boards. I saw a coach from Belmont at the game talking to Coach Combs after the game.

Pioneers have played better lately, but I guess their fun will come to an end Friday as they travel to face preseason District 2AA favorite GP. Highlanders have too much depth and talent and should roll big in this one. GP 65-50.

Nobody is offering McBee, he is closer to 6' than 6'1". They have no other players worth mentioning. GP is the team to worry about this year.

Rutledge picked up a nice win over Carter Friday night 59-57.

Coach58, you sound like an opposing district coach that is trying to put the pressure on the Pioneers. If you have any knowledge of this district you know that there is tough competition every night and that it is nearly impossible to go undefeated. PF couldn't do it last year and they were loaded. I think the Pioneers could struggle early since 3 of their top 5 are still in Football. They should be good after Christsmas when everyone gets their Basketball legs. Look out for GP and CG to contend for the top spots also. PF will be good also with the transfers.

#20 for Carter was clearly the difference in the game. The interception was on a Hail Mary attempt, most DB's would have made that play. I realize that #11 is your son, he is a good player.

The clock and the timeouts would not have mattered if the Interception that Rutledge had on the last drive had not been wiped off by a bogus pass interference call. Game would have been over if not for that penalty.

Warlock, I don't believe that it is fair to say that athletics as a whole have been inferior. Rutledge has been very successful in many other sports. Football has been a little down, but that goes in cycles. They have also enjoyed success for periods of time. If you are a graduate and truly care then you should be glad that they have some Good Ole Boys that did graduate from the school and truly do care and do the job for very little pay. If you want an outsider then you better be willing to pay some big bucks to get them. Coaches have to have material to work with and in my humble opinion, as an outsider, they do not have much at the present time. As a graduate, are you doing anything to help, or do you just sirt back and complain? Also it is not Grainger County High School, but simply Grainger High School.

Rutledge dominated Unicoi Co. yesterday 12-2 in 5 innings. They will travel to Elizabethton Wednesday. How do Elizabethton and Unicoi compare, do the Pioneers have a chance or is Unicoi just not very good?

Grsports, It looks like you were right. Saw on the scoreboard that they lost to WG last night, I thought they would win that one for sure. Defense must have been bad. They better bring their best tonight. I'm going to be there hopefully if all goes well at work today and I can get out on time.

Easy there grsports63, I have never claimed to know everything about Rutledge sports. I only asked a question about whether or not they are improved. Just by looking at their record they seem to be. You make good points about their opponents record thus far, I was not aware of that. I am out of pocket and don't get to see many games anymore. Most of my info is second hand. If you are correct about defense and rebounding then it will catch up with them eventually. I guess I was just hoping they had improved but you have shot me down on that one. I will need to stop listenening to my sources and get my info from someone more knowledgeable in the future.
