  1. Murfreesboro is the place. Friendly City. You have MTSU, Riverdale, Oakland, and Blackman. Real close by is Laverge and Smyrna. Lots of good motels and hotels. All interstates lead to this area. Murfreesboro is the geographical center of Tennessee. The State basketball bunch found this out long ago. I believe this is very fair to all schools. The travel is centered and you know where it will be each year. "MURFREESBORO IS THE PLACE". It only makes good common sense.
  2. Its an opinion. Everybody has one. Baylor sweeps Webb, Webb sweeps McCallie, McCallie sweeps Baylor. Baylor and McCallie is a rival of teams at its best. When you break it down all the teams listed are good teams. On any given day any of these teams could beat the other. The season is still long in terms of who makes the big dance. Its all practice until the play offs.
  3. Baylor/Farragut @ 7:45 Thursday night @ Engel Stadium (3/24/05). You can look over brackets @ www.tbca.org Go to tournament schedules. Last years Baylor/Farragut game was a great game until the 7th inning. Baylor errors let the game get away. Score was 1-1 going into the 7th. Farragut had scored on a fly ball error. Baylor had scored on a home run.
  4. I know Coty and his dad. His dad works alot of hours for Coty to attend Baylor. Coty came to Baylor for educational reasons. He is a 3.8 or 3.9 student at Baylor. All the kids on this Baylor team except for a few, played Dixie Youth Baseball on Lookout Mountain, Signal Mountain and Red Bank. A few played Dizzy Dean. Baylor gives no scholarships. They do give financial aid. Anyone can apply and receive it. The TSSAA can and does check on each student at Baylor, McCallie and other schools. I guess they recruited Wes Hodges, Kane Simmons and others? Wrong! As for Celis, Baylor has students attending from over 20 countries world wide. He just choose to play baseball. He was no stand out, just another player and a good guy as well. Is that too simple to believe. Chris Wright played catcher in front of him. When Chris played center field, Celis played catcher. Just like on any other area team. It sure is funny how urban legend grows these thoughts of cheating and stacking teams. Is life no fun unless we sow seeds of distrust and doubt at each other. "Play ball and have fun". Soon its the real world we live in!
  5. Brett, I am a bit surprised at this quote. Your a class guy. Baylor, McCallie and all the D schools would still be playing with your schools for the title every year, if not for the TSSAA cutting them loose. The reason private schools were cut loose in the first place is from public school coaches not wanting to play private schools. It was not the private school coaches but the public school coaches that set this rule. Its not the players fault at all. Come summer everyone will be playing on the same summer teams. This Private/Public thing is crap. A game is a game. If a player or team is not having fun playing, they need to try some other sport. As of last night, Baylor just did not finish the job, they laid down. Pure and simple. Not to take away from Ben, he did do a good job. Best I have seen him hit his spots. The plate ump did not help Ryne or Alex. He got both pitches out of the groove. Batters never knew the strike zone either. Bens style of pitching took full advanage of this. When William came in to pitch the bases were loaded and no outs. Some bloop hits and Baylor errors put it all together and it spelled...a lost for Baylor. No one was killed, just a baseball game. Congrats to Soddy...they deserve it. "Play ball, have fun".
  6. Green without the "e". Thanks for the Baylor support.
  7. He played you...get it...ends.
  8. Baylor results On the mound for Baylor Baylor 2 Lebanon 1 Simpson/Frazier/Tidwell/McGee Baylor 8 Laverne 0 Green/Simmons Baylor 3 Coffee County 3 Stout/Elliott/Crimmins/Stansell
  9. You must not have been at the game. Baylor most certainly did score on him. #3 put the first run in with a hit to right field on an outside pitch. Give Baylor 4 runs on him. No 90 mph throws.
  10. 8-1 Baylor, but you just can't tell a about teams by pre-season games, Soddy has a good team, Baylor has a good team. These two teams get along great and respect each other. No trash talking, which makes the games fun and shows good sportsmanship. The way it should be.
  11. I would take Baylor/McCallie...you would think your at a football game, not a baseball game...the crowd is big on both sides and it gets loud! You can cut the tension in the air as the game goes on. Red and Blue, fighting tooth and nail all the way to games end...you got to love this stuff! To bad they don't see it as competition and be friends after the game is over. Take Baylor and Webb... good rival game...each fix a big meal for the visiting team and fans. Strong games and after playing, all shake hands and eat together as friends. Got to love that also...
  12. Soddy Daisy and Baylor met Friday night for an hour and a half. Wes McIntyre was lead off pitcher. Baylor hit him well and scored on him. By Baylor's gun he hit 80 mph a few times. Was a little cold and might have a few more clicks on a warmer day. Throws alot of junk and didn't live on the fast ball very much. Soddy Daisy looks like they have a strong team for this year. Vaughn was great at catching, many good blocks. Wes threw ok, and Alexander threw well. No pitches in the 90's were seen all night...
  13. It would not surprise me to see J. Dobbs the No. 1 for SD. He was throwing very well in fall ball with the Colonels. Dobbs, Vaughn, Hicks and Alexander was on the fall Colonels. Dobbs hit very well also. McIntyre pitched for the Cyclones aganinst the Colonels at Walters State in a Tournament, the Colonels beat him 6-0.
  14. Baylor pitched one pitcher each inning for 8 innings. Score was 10-1Baylor after 8 innings. In the top or the 9th Baylor pitched a sophomore pitcher and a freshman pitcher. McMinn scored 10 runs off the two. Baylor did not take its at bat in the bottom of the 9th.

If Baylor takes the field with serious intent to play baseball...they could be DII's best team on the field. They must hit as they can do and put up a wall on defense. They have a deep pitching rotation and strong bats. They must not comment the errors like last year and must bring home the guys on the bags. I would say, this could be a good team.
  16. Byrum played with senior catcher Nick Davis for Baylor last year. Nick got the most playing time. Byrum has a quick-hot bat. Will step up as full time catcher this year. Was catcher on the 16 Colonels summer of 2003. Congrats to you signing with MTSU. Coach Peterson is a great coach. Old school coach that stands behind his players. (Smalls, this reply was meant for your post #8).
  17. If that is "Best outfields"...try Ty Levie, Logan simmons and Steven Hawk of Baylor School. Speed, speed and more speed. Hawk set a Baylor all time steal record in the 2004 season and a diving catch in McCallie game at Baylor that may have saved it. All three are good hitters. Levie and Simmons has good power. Hawk places hits at will.
  18. Anyone used a Miken "Freak" baseball bat or knows of player who has? I know the Freak softball bat is a monster...really hot! They get outlawed each year from softball it seems...have always enjoyed the Easton line of bats...the Stealth is very hot...
  19. Add Rowdy Byrum (Baylor) to that list as a catcher...will also be a Colonel this summer.
  20. Tack on Ryne Simpson and Coty Green of Baylor. Dobbs, Smalley, Geren, Green and Simpson will be part Chattanooga Colonels this coming summer. They all played fall ball together.
  21. Yes, but only a few game are scheduled for night as of now. Maybe the schedule will change to have several more at night.
  22. Baylor is making many new additions to its field this year. Adding a great field lighting setup. Lighting will be the best around. Two new batting cages with padded turf for surface. Playing field turf will be great this year. New wind screen and fence guard safety cap around outfield fence. Baylor has always had the great classic club house looking dugouts. The field is placed in a beautiful location on the banks of the Tennessee River with Signal Mountain and Lookout Moutain cast in the scene off 1st base. Baylor Lake off to center field. I believe all who see Baylor's field this year will be impressed. Baylor's field could be a little deeper so to keep hitters honest. All of the fields talked of about are nice and have their distinct feel. Lookout Valley's Coach really takes good care of the field and I have never seen it looking bad. Coach Turner of WV really takes pride in all his baseball club. He liked the training building at Pigeon Force very much. He may have one by now. Ooltewah's field is in a nice setting. The field itself looks to slope alot toward outfield. The pitchers rubber looks as if it is below home plate. I know it not to be so if measured for grade, but the illusion of the field slope makes it seem so from the right field seats. Play---Ball...have fun!

Hey, cbhsdeadfish, hit a nerve...denial...sure sight of envy...Baylor should not be at the state after losing 8 starters, but there they are...that alone makes a statement...baylor may not win and should not win from an odds standpoint...but, they will not be sore losers either! I did not hear anyone from baylor cut down cbhs last year after twice putting donuts on them...did cbhs coach adams go to baylor? good luck to cbhs and i hope the best for them just as i hope the best for all the teams...Go to the games and have some fun...you sound sad.
  24. I spend my younger days in Bruceton-Hollow Rock and will be pulling for Huntingdon...Baylor will be my D-II team. Farragut should be a shoe in for AAA. AA let them roll, good luck to all...see you tomorrow at Sping Fling XI.
