Why not put Smyrna, LaVergne, Oakland, Riverdale, Blackman, and Siegel in the same district for all sports? Lebanon and Wilson County would also be great additions. It's silly to have Warren County, Cookeville, and White County in this district because of the distance.
Yeah by a total of 4 runs (now 5 runs counting today's game with Franklin). Franklin isn't all that - all the teams in the state are about the same with the exceptions of a few pitchers (pitcher for single A Forrest, Farragut, Collierville).
Choate threw well today. Umpire missed a strike out call on a Franklin's hitter with two outs, and give credit to the kid because he hit the next pitch up the middle to score two.
Bush league by Franklin by not going out to third base line when names were called before the game, and their coach acting "major league" by giving there pitchers "time" in the bullpen when they've been warming up for 30 minutes :^)
Oh well, it all must have worked because they won :^)
Was it Frankin last year in the state that lost a heartbreaker to Tullahoma (error with 2 outs in the last inning that let the flood gates open for the Wildcats)?
Like someone said earlier, too bad the schools have gotten so big. It leaves alot of kids out. Participation in sports within the schools is a very small % compared to the total student body (especially 5A vs 1A) - a student body of 2000 with a team of 20 only has 1% participation.
Too bad schools don't have the resources to have 2 or 3 teams within one school(and each of those teams with a freshman, jv, and varsity) - talk about rivalries. I know, keep on dreaming :^)
You got it right Slyder - money driven. It's not for the love of the game much anymore. All the kids got to have the "right" bats, cleats, glove, uniform. If you don't have the right brand, you're an outsider. Everybody is trying to be Mr. ESPN. TSSAA is a BIG part of it. $7 for parking and they charge children to get in like the UT Vols at Neyland Stadium. It's a money-making business in all of society. From the CEO's getting undeserved $400 million retirement packages to A-Rod getting $millions per year. Sorry to be so pessimistic (and stay out of retirement because you have good reads).
You are right LCborn. Thanks for setting it straight. Your words are right, but they are easier said than done. The coach is the authority that has the easiest job putting his foot down because like you said: he can tell the player to go. A teacher can't tell the student to "go" because TN Constitution says (unfortunately) that every kid has a right to an education whether they want it or not. That leaves the parent, and they have the kid for a life time :^)
You are right David, some people maybe "eternally" connected to a team. Theoretically, a baseball game could last forever. Too bad we have to go to work sometimes and eventually a team would run out of pitchers :^)
Field of Dreams baby! Help me I'm melting.
You are right David - baseball is like the Bible in some aspects. There are main things that there should be a consensus on. However, baseball is not like the Bible in that baseball is fallible and the Bible is infallible. Man made baseball rules (uninspired by God), and man wrote the Bible (inspired by God).
You knew that I couldn't pass up a theological debate :^)
We forget that baseball is a game without eternal consequences.
I've only seen them once, but there are two kids from Overton that can rip it: the lefty pitcher who has signed with Vandy and their other player who has signed with MTSU. Dodd at Oakland can rip also.
