  1. I don't think that Catholic recruits, they are honorable and too prideful to not be a school of their word. Catholic has built a good football program and will do pretty good in DI with my prediction of a 7-3 record next year because I feel that the move is almost in a downward direction in competition for Catholic seeing that it is expected for five good respectable nashville area programs to go to DII next year. I look to see Catholic back in DII in four years because i believe once these 5 come then it is likely that several more will come to DII. I believe that DII AAA is the best division in the state with the super 7 ,and that with the apparent additions of DCA, CPA, Ezzel, FRA, and Davidson Acad., DII AA will continue to grow strong in the next few years and I'm not sure that Catholic is making the right decision, but who am I to question their desicion which I am sure is very well thought out.
  2. I said for the most part the METRO system is a joke. It is impossible for me to make the statement that every teacher in the metro system and every school in the metro system is a joke. Bighurt please read my post one more time because you took two quotes and made them to mean more than what it actually says. I said that the METRO system as a whole is a joke, which it is, the classes are out of control, and that is where I said that was a reason that the best teachers go private, where discipline isn't a problem. The Metro system does a good job for the top students, in advanced honors and AP classes, but the problem is for the students who are smart but not in those classes. The students in those advanced honors classes and AP classes are all there to learn. In the middle and largest sector of the school population there is a mix of students who care and those who don't ,and those who don't are the biggest discipline problem, and the reason Metro schools are a joke. There are several good school systems throughout the state, but Metro is not a good one because it is hard for the average student to recieve a good education. My mother has worked in the public school system for 6 years and has said many things about this and this is the reason I attend private school. There obviously is a problem in Davidson county metro schools when 26% of eligible students go to private school when the national average is 10% and college records show as is shown in the Tennessean article that private schools in the area score 6 points higher on the ACT, a HUGE margin that is not acceptable and is further proof for the growing number of private school students in the area and futher proof that the lady in this article is out of line with her comments.
  3. mustang maniac, As someone who has just recently come public to private let me say the entire system is not a joke. The biggest problem lies in the most important level of k-12 education, high school. I do believe and have said before, for the most part METRO schools are a joke. But I can not go as far as saying, say the entire state's public school system is a joke, because in some systems where the heads of the county do a good job, the schools do a good job. On the whole I do have to say discipline is the biggest problem in public school, and because of this the best teachers go to private school so they can actually teach instead of spend there day worrying about discipline and just trying to control their class as was apparent towards the latter part of the time I spent in the public school system(k-8). Now in my second year of Private school the environment is a lot better. TSSAA will not make a total split for this reason. The privates will simply leave TSSAA if a total split were made. Why would they not, with out TSSAA they wouldn't have to give A LOT of money to an organization and they would set up their own statewide system self governed system (a proposal for this would probobly be met with enthusiasm from many privates because of the ever present money factor involved). The TSSAA knows this and in my opinion should be concerned about that very thing happening with a large group (D2 schools mostly with several D1 schools joining in for the ability to keep more money) leaving and starting their own sports governing body. In no way do I believe that a total split should happen because of what numerous people have stated in that the competition between public and private schools is always great for both schools.

    ND WINS!

It's kinda funny that the Notre Dame Irish came to knoxville in the form of a high school and a college this weekend, both as underdogs and won. The person(GATA) who said sportsmanship doesn't matter after middleschool is the same guy who does these things on the field that make himself and his team and his entire school appear to be idiots, that is why sportsmanship is important, with out sportsmenship sports stop being fun, wins and losses matter ALOT but so does the way one conducts themselves on the field. Please!!! Guys in this thread I've heard more accusations of bad sportsmanship than I've ever heard before. Let's not be bad sports ourselves by coming out and letting everyone know how bad someone acted during or after a game, some things are unacceptable, but we are giving the enitire issue of what happened too much talk while we should be congratulating Notre Dame on a huge win over Catholic.
  5. For all the great talk coming about Jemison, it is sad that he is leaving, but what must be understood is that he was a coach, coaches are supposed to win and they are only judged by people other than there own players only by their win-loss ratio. The the numer of people that liked the man and that played for the man and the increase in number of players, it is obvious he is well liked by his players. The problem was he didn't win and he got his job taken from him. He had what appears to be more players than any football coach had to chose from in FRHS football history and he posted a horrible record. With no offense to Jemison who appears to be a great man, it appears he wasn't able to get the job done so it's a good thing for FRHS that they ridded him of his football coaching duties. Who ever the replacement shouldn't have the same problem, with a program that old and that large it is hard to believe that FRHS football won't get better, there should be some talent in the 100 players on that team that just wasn't shown in the Jemison era. To say that Golden Tate is not the only player that FRHS has not gotten as a result of JP2 being open is a pretty uneducated statement. Courtney Coffey who FRW should know well, along with Nick Crutcher, Brian Sneed,Jen Sneed(girls b-ball), Chuch Woosely, Oriel Samuels, Catanany, and several others, in fact too many to count that are at JP2 and not Ryan. For your proof Ryan supporters go and look at your records in sports since the opening of Jp2 and prior to JP2.There is your real evidence, sure some sports are just beginning to show because this is the first year JP2 has seniors, but the effect is obvious, and what JP2 is doing on the north side of town is pretty darn amazing for a program and school only around for now 3 years, a school that has a reputation good enough already to attract students that live much closer to Ryan to make the drive to hendersonville everyday. To say that JP2 is not effecting Ryan is a statement that is made in hope, hope that it isn't.
  6. Brentwood has played BA several times, but generally becuase they are not in the same division they only play each other on a two year series so there are no year in and year out series I know about, with my suggestion of making all the privates go to DII it would solve the problem of the playoffs as you said and the post i responded to was suggesting a "total split" as mphstigerfan said
  7. you got a little off topic but my question is why in the world do you not think the public should play the private schools. I think the system in place right now if just fine. It allows the two to play each other a few times a year, but the only thing that I can see that would will find the middle ground is if all private schools are put in D II so that in A/AA there is not a mixture of public and private in which the private generally dominate, but still allow DII schools to play DI schools if this were implied because complete serperation does away with inner city public-private games that are very popular games for both schools because its the big public school against the private school down the road. Seperation almost in your terms seems like the publics saying, "we've had enough and we give up, we can't beat you guys" and that just shouldn't happen.
  8. If I said JP2 has dominated Ryan in any sports sorry, but JP2 has beaten Ryan on several occasions in the last two years and taken nearly every game in every sport down to the wire(pretty darn good for a school with only its first senior class this year and whether Ryan likes it or not JP2 is building a powerhouse in just about all sports). But the ? I would like awnsered and maybe you (Irishpride02) can do it, How bad has Ryan been effected by JP2 because they have (statiscally and by just looking at players and depth) in many sports suffered from JP2's existance.
  9. Right now I'm my second year of Private school. Prior to attending high school I went through the school system. It was just fine and there was no problem, my parents saw no need to attend private school. The high school level is quite a change though. Nearly 25 people from my school came to JP2 with me. As I've talked to them we came for majorly one reason and that was the education. Public high school education is a joke compared to a good private school education at the high school level. k-8 the problems are not as severe, but once high school comes were teachers need to be better and the learning environment needs to be better as well, there is no question that private school is better than public school. In private school teachers are better simply because they know that they don't have to worry with discipline problems, discipline problems in private school generally dis appear, at least where I attend. In the public schools discipline problems disappear for a couple of days in OSS or ISS but they come back and they are so numerous that it effects the learning emmensly. The public school high school system is messed up and it is scary to know that people like this crazy woman are running it.
  10. to say that JP2 has only two threats could be the worst thing that the Webb supporters could think. Yes Golden is a great threat, but let's remember about ChucK Wooseley who is supposed to return this week ,and by the way he had a great game in the first contest between the two teams. Brian Sneed is becoming a good threat at running the ball and he is a great defensive player. Courtney Coffey is amazing in his shear size and strength and can run the ball and block for Woosley and Tate. These are just a few examples. Webb guys if you recall, these are the same dicussions held earlier this year and JP2 out played you emmensly, ALOT more than the score showed, JP2 gave you three touchdowns on "interesting plays" and you could only convert twice. The game was dominated by JP2 and Webb looked pathetic especially in that thing they called a passing game (1-8 1INT 0TD 5YRDS). Webb was one dimensional the entire game and just got out played by a better opponent. Webb is being simply ignorant to come into the game seeing JP2 as a two player team, please Webb use your heads so this game is closer than the last one, Jp2 walked over you last time and you must realize that, you appeared one dimensional and JP2's corners will eat you 1/4backs passes up again just look at the previous games stats, In my opinion Webb's only hope is to find some kind of a passing game early and then establish the run because face it, JP2 won last time because Webb was ineffective running the ball for the most part and Webb had as many completions as interceptions. JP2 35 Webb 14 No change Webb is on a bad streak and JP2 is on a 4 game winning streak
  11. As far as I can tell Father Ryan football is not the only sport at that school suffering. The middle tennessee catholic high school players pool has shrunk significantly for Ryan with the opening of JP2. With the growing population of Catholics in the area this problem will soon disappear, but for the time being my question is what has JP2 done in order to manage to get four great classes of athletes in a three year span and be able to compete with Ryan in almost every sport and beat them in what seems like a majority. Jemison, from what I've heard was not liked by his players and with the number of assistant coaches that have quit the football program not liked by his assistants either. Father Ryan is a team and sports program that appears to have deeply suffered from the opening of a new school that appears to be attracking the best in the area as they (JP2) went 7-3 and is looking at a chance for the state title in only it's second year in varsity competition. Does it appear to others (especially those inside Ryan) that JP2 has put a big hurt on not only Ryan football but Ryan athletics in general.
  12. JP2 wins this one, they already won in the regular season, Webb has to travel some 3 hours to the game, and JP2 is coming off a 42-40 win over a divsion 1 5-a school, and riding a four game winning streak whearas Webb has all but completed a collapse to finish at 5-5. JP2 wins again 35-14
  13. JP2 35 St. B 7 Reason. St.benedict is 0-2 in regional matachups and JP2 is 3-1 with the only loss to knox catholic. JP2 is coming off a huge win that pretty much assures a home playoff game and the JP2 running game is doing great, as a new power at RB emerged last night in the form of Brian Sneed, who adds to the other good RB's Tate, Woosely, Coffey and Issacson (sorry if i left someone out)
  14. i hate to say i told you so, but Webb proved to be 1 dimensional and couldn't throw the ball once their run game was stopped. They didn't punt b/c they had good field position and always went for it on 4th and 5. congrats to JP2 and an early playoff prediction.... JP2 35 Webb 14, this game last night should have been 28-0 but JP2 gave Webb two touchdowns of two mistakes and tried to give them three but a great stop of 4th and goal from the one proved that JP2 was in command.
