  1. I understand that coach Pitts has recruited three kids and has them currently redshirting at Holly Tree Child Care. Word is they will be tearing the rims down at the mighty BA in about 9 years!
  2. Kudos to Mcallie on their 68-57 win over Father Ryan.It was a tremendous defensive effort that turned the game in favor of the Tornado in the third quarter. They were determined not to let Joe Thompson beat them from 3 point range. Tough loss for the Irish and their great senior class of Thompson, Brent Carney, Dylan Lynch, Everett Bills, Brian Griffith, and Jeff DeGrauw, They brought us many great memories, including a state title in 2002. Good luck to McCallie, Notre Dame, Brentwood Academy, and Lausanne School. It should be a great State Tourney.
  3. Jerry wanted kids to play for him that basketball was not their THIRD choice. He got two big money guys mad at him and VOILA!, he`s out. Don`t ever forget MONEY talks at MBA. Ricky Bowers had more experience at dealing with "affluent parents"and their children`s needs.

    WesVols

Wesvols, congratulations on your honor and what you have contributed to Coach T. I have one question. Why are you going to waste all that brainpower at place like UT? That graymatter deserves to be challenged at Stanford,Vanderbilt, Tulane, Dartmouth etc. A mind is a terrible thing to waste!
  5. Go to tssaa.org and click on wrestling tournament results. Father Ryan won the Tourney by 18.5 points over McCallie. Ryan had 4 champions, Whit& Raymond Dunning, Jimmy Hiller, and Jes Greenwood.
  6. Joe Thompson is still out with a wrist injury for at least another week. The Irish are sorely missing his guard play and leadership on the court. As much as I hate to admit it, Brentwood Academy and Notre Dame are the two best DII teams right now. Their teams have gotten progressively better as the season has gone on. There is still a lot of basketball to be played however. I look for BA to win a close one tonight over Father Ryan.
  7. Notre Dame rallied from a 12 point 3rd quarter deficit to beat Father Ryan 70-67 in Nashville. Ryan Led 67-65 when they tried a runout pass that was intercepted by ND. Six seconds later ND cans a 3 pointer with 9 seconds left in the game. ND again picks off an errant pass on the inbounds play and is fouled by Ryan. ND makes both free throws thus making the final 70-67. The ND full court pressure really kept Ryan off balance and ND`s Adarius Bowman was nearly unstoppable inside. Ryan was hurt by the absence of guard Joe Thompson who is out with a wrist injury. If ND continues that type of pressure defensive play, they will go far into postseason. Ryan must regroup and get ready for several upcoming key region games.
  8. I see no scenario where Government run "open zone, charter,Magnet",schools would be FORCED into DIV II. Local politicians would sue the TSSAA over that in a minute.
  9. Guys, I am having a great time reading these posts. It brings back so many memories. My grandparents went to Central, My mother went to St. Cecilia, my father went to East, and all of us kids went to Father Ryan and St Cecilia. Busing truly did bring an end to the community school concept in Nashville. Keep the thread going, This is a great history lesson!
