  1. Well......both teams playing their A game......big rivalry in EVERY sport...what do you think???? I can't think of a place I'd rather be than watching this game tomorrow night. Last time between these two teams the game went into overtime.....Cascade will be playing their hearts out!!!! Forrest knows it and will respond by picking it up a notch also. The winner goes on to play for the District tournament Championship against the winner of the MTCS/Moore County game. What a night of basketball against some of the best teams in the State!!! I am betting Forrest will come away with the win....we just have so much firepower on this team ( Beth Hawn, Taylor Allen, Megan Miller, Randi Toombs and Christina and Anna Curtner.....and others off the bench... WOW), and Cascade is young, although they have been handling the pressure real well with the leadership of MK Potts!! Anyway good luck to all 4 teams.....you are all a great pleasure to watch!!! GO LADY ROCKETS......GET THE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Flash....Great post.....Can't wait for the games to begin.......GO LADY ROCKETS!!!!!!!!
  3. That is GREAT news!!! Was hoping it would be that......now Lady Rockets get down to business and SHINE in the post season!!! GO LADY ROCKETS!!!!!!
  4. Beth is resting her knee for now and did not play tonight. She hurt it last night at Huntland, and will get MRI on Monday. She has had a sore kneecap for most of this year, although you would not know it to watch her play! Our girls really stepped it up in her absence though and came away with a big win! Congrats to the team and hurry back Beth!!!! GO LADY ROCKETS!!!!!!!
  5. Sara Nelms is having an awesome year.....as is Cornersville!! Haley Fagan, Makenzie Hopkins to name a few.....and certainly Miss Nelms are the reasons Cornersville is 19-2 and rated #5 in single A! I believe Marshall County as a whole (Cornersville A, Marshall Cty AA and Forrest A) have made many stand up and take notice over the last few years, and not just in ladies basketball!! I still wish we played Cornersville during the regular season, now that was a tradition!!!.....However I will take both teams making it to the Boro again!!!! Good luck the rest of the way!!!!
  6. I agree that these posts have been informative and made some very good points......one that has not been mentioned however which is pertinent to the subject, is that all 3 ladies mentioned as front runners come from schools....Forrest, Jackson County and Clarkrange...who play some of the most talented teams across the state. Forrest has not lost a game this season to a single A opponent, beaten 2 AAA teams and lost only to 4 AA teams who are at the top of their game....#1 Ensworth, #6 CPA (twice) and #12 Cannon County. Jackson County has had an equally impressive year so far with a 1 point loss to #3 AAA Blackman, 2- 2 point wins over #3 AA Upperman and wins over AAA Cookeville and AAA William Blount. Clarkrange has only lost in single A to Forrest, (1st game of the year) and to Jackson County twice....... close games both times. Won a good one over #5 AA Livingston and AAA Cumberland County and dropped close ones to #3 AAA Blackman and AAA Tennessee. Well my point here is, ( I get long winded sometimes lol ), these ladies have performed superbly against VERY good teams! Hopefully the voters will recognize that they certainly have earned the right to be nominated! I don't want to leave out some other VERY talented players in single A across the state, but I am just discussing who I think the front runners should be!!
  7. Well I kind of agree with your reasoning and for good reason lol.....Forrest has been to State for the last 4 years and won it in 2006 with thrilling victories over RBS, Madison Academic Magnet and JC for the victory...all by a margin of 6 points!!! Gaby Bussell had a fabulous year that year and was State MVP in Class A.....all while being snubbed for a Miss Basketball nomination....and she had all of the requirements of a Miss Basketball candidate and then some, including awesome stats during the regular season........well my point is, that year Miss Basketball went to a Perry County player, not saying that player was not deserving....she was awesome, BUT the team did not make it to State at all and lost in Sub-State (I believe). Forrest does not have the long and storied histories that some of the other Class A teams have (however we are working on it lol)..... with number of appearances at State and Gold Balls etc, but what we have had is an incredible run over the last 4 years and certainly have had 2 players..... Gaby Bussell then and Beth Hawn now who are every bit as deserving of the Miss Basketball nomination as those players from schools with the long storied histories of basketball prowess. I will now get off my soapbox!!! The bottom line is ..... Miss Basketball only takes into consideration performance during the regular season along with academics, character, and overall affect the player has on their team.......FINALLY and HOPEFULLY one of Forrests' players will be recognized for their contributions. Beth has worked incredibly hard this year and I can see the will to win on her face every time she hits the floor, and I have heard how she works with the younger players to bring them along also. I have seen both Miss Leonard and Miss Heady play this year and I feel they are deserving of this award as well .......so in order for my faith in this system to be justified these 3 ladies should definately be on the "short" list of nominees. I certainly wish all of them luck for the rest of regular season.... into the post season ......and on to a potential trip to the Boro!!!!
  8. Yes I saw it and I felt MK let the ball go before the buzzer, it went in after the buzzer, but should have counted. Was one heck of a game!!
  9. Forrest was AWESOME tonight against Cascade and I am sure everyone considered them the underdog!!!! Way to go Rockets and keep it up the rest of the way and you will go far!!!!!!!
  10. Hey Hooptroop!!! What a game! Cascade was tough tonight as we know they can be!! The last couple of minutes were giving me a heart attack!!! It was a tough game for both sides but Forrest pulled it out in OT and it was fun to watch!! Way to go Lady Rockets!!!
  11. I heard that Ms Heady hurt her knee against JC the other night......hoping this is minor and she will be back in action soon. I have seen her play....and she is having a wonderful season. Does anyone have an update?
  12. These choices are right on, all of these ladies make their teams so much better....I will speak of the one I know the best......Beth Hawn has all of the qualities of a Ms Basketball candidate. She is leading all scorers in Tenn., rebounds with the best, makes everyone around her better too, refuses to let her team down and night after night she wills the win, great senior leadership, wonderful student and person...looks like the COMPLETE package of a Ms Basketball WINNER! Congratulations to those young ladies that are selected, you are all special players!!!
  13. Having stronger teams here in 9A this year will really help when it comes to District and Region play (and hopefully further than that). It has also made for some great basketball to watch........we are coming down to the end of the regular season and I can't wait for these games!!!! Gotta stay focused Lady Rockets.....leave it on the floor every night!!!!!! Get ready for MTCS on Tues....then Cascade.....great couple of games!!! DO IT!!!!! Go Lady Rockets!!!!!
  14. I agree Flash....I think this will be one of the best games of the year........although it will be hard to beat the one point game these 2 teams had at Moore County. Like you I also believe the Lady Rockets will prevail and hopefully by a larger margin than the last game. Wouldn't miss this one!!! All of Chapel Hill needs to come out and support both Rocket teams tonight........GO ROCKETS and LADY ROCKETS!!!!!
  15. I thought (even though I am a Forrest fan) that the call by the official was out of line. Particularly as this coach, who is known for being a little "excitable" shall we say, was not even hollering or anything. It looked like he was BARELY out of the box......just my opinion
  16. BIG District match-up tonight with the Lady Rockets traveling to Wartrace to take on the Lady Champions! Cascade is tied with Moore County at 3-1 in the District, while Forrest has the lead at 4-0. There is always something "extra" when these county rivals meet and tonight's game should be a barnburner! I believe the Lady Rockets will take the win although it will be a tough one, similar to the close victory we had over Moore County. The Lady Rockets know what to expect tonight and will be prepared......what do you think???? I say Lady Rockets by 6........GO LADY ROCKETS!!!!!!!!!
  17. Whoops.....I think Cornersville belongs in there somewhere!
  18. What time do Forrest and CPA play??? GO LADY ROCKETS!!!!!!!!
  19. Was a little surprised at MTCS tonight.....we came out strong (not surprising) but MTCS just seemed to be tired or not on their best game tonight. Forrest got the win with both teams sending in the reserves early in the 4th. Keep up the intensity Lady Rockets!!!!
  20. Couldn't agree more.....the Forrest/ MTCS game is ALWAYS tough. Great support for both teams and GREAT high school basketball. Will be another close game tonight and both teams will be leaving it on the floor. Good Luck to Both, play injury free and OF COURSE.....GO LADY ROCKETS!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Was a great game to watch! As someone said earlier....great defense by both teams!!! Congrats to Forrest on this District win...Moore County has a tough team and the District will be better because of it. Tough one coming up with MTCS on Monday night...BE READY!!!! GO LADY ROCKETS!!!!!!!!!
  22. 7Awatcher, Whats your take on the game? 7A WATCHER WAS SPECIAL REFREE FOR A WHILE I would have LOVED to have seen that one!!! I bet CR fans were ready for a hangin' if they thought 7awatcher was gonna ref!!!
  23. Well as much as I LOVE my Lady Rockets, I think they will be challenged more this year than in the last few years. I still believe they will prevail and win the District HOWEVER it will not be easy. MTCS, Moore, Cascade will be right there doing everything in their power to stop the Lady Rockets. I have not seen Community play yet this year, and even though I have heard they are good, their opponents have not been as strong...... although they played Cornersville pretty tight. Soooo, my prediction will be as follows: Forrest Moore MTCS Cascade Unionville Eagleville Huntland FC Boyd Now I will say that IF Forrest plays every game like they played against Clarkrange.....the intensity, the "refuse to lose", the defense to die for, Beth performing like a Miss Basketball.......they will be there at the end ( I mean the real end ). I did not see that against CPA....but that was a tournament. Forrest is GOOD...but as has been mentioned there are 3 or 4 teams in this District this year that are competitors! Eagleville at Forrest......and the season begins!!!!! GO LADY ROCKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!
