  1. Camden beats Creekwood 5-1. 1-1 ballgame until the end and Creekwood got a little sloppy. Creekwood had lots of chances to score more and couldn't pull it off. I think they had lead off doubles twice that didn't score.
  2. Camden beats Creekwood 12-1. Blake Riley hits two homeruns and Taylor Douglas hits a homerun and pitches the complete game only giving up one run. He started off looking ugly but Creekwood wasn't able to take advantage. Best hit of the night for them the boy didn't hustle to first and got thrown out by the right fielder.
  3. Crap! We were going by about 7:30 on the way back from Cheatham Co. and I almost stopped to see how it was going. I am going to have to start leaving my wife at home so I don't have to listen to her gripe when I do stuff like that.
  4. Ok the season has started. How does everybody look? Camden is 2-1 losing 9-8 in extra innings to Henry Co. and winning 10-3 at Perry Co. and 9-0 at Cheatham Co. Too many walks and throwing errors lost them the game against Henry Co. but the bats have looked strong with 4 homeruns by four different players in the three games.
  5. I think you have Montgomery Central down too far. They were a young team playing very well at the end of the season. And of course I am partial to Camden. Like I said in the earlier post they are returning all the pitching and getting one back who was hurt most of last year. All the big bats return with three players in the middle of the lineup batting right around .500. The defense that hurt them big at times last year should be improved with the injured player coming back plus experience for the younger players. Second place in the district last year and wanting to improve on that. Waverly with Purcell might move up and all the district games should be very competitive. 1. Camden 2. Montgomery Central 3. Harpeth 4. Waverly 5. Creekwood 6. Cheatham 7. Stewart
  6. Camden is returning all but one of the all district players and all of the pitching is back including one that had hurt his arm early last season. Seven of the nine starters are back. Should be a solid team.
  7. We played summer ball with Matt Beaty last year. All of our tournaments were on college fields and he was still hitting homeruns and shots in the gap. I saw on his mom's facebook page that they went to Arizona to a homerun contest over the Christmas break that he did well in. Beatty, Russ Henderson (Lexington), Ryne Bivens (riverside), Dalton Potts (Greenfield), Taylor Douglas (Camden), Miles Anderson (Milan), Micheal Purcell (Waverly), Andrew Fiddler (Lexington) all played together last summer. All of them are very solid players and I expect all of them to play somewhere at the next level.
  8. Sorry, you are wrong. Camden has home field as long as they win until they have to go to Cookville.
  9. I think on a post earlier somebody noted that Mont. Central is always tough in the postseason. They are showing it. Camden has been depending on Riley and Douglas to pitch the district games for several weeks. We will find out tonight how one of the other ones show up. I don't know what Mont. Central will have pitching wise, but we have had some problems throwing strikes after the top two. Most of the district games have been Riley pitching on Monday with Douglas catching and then Douglas pitching with Riley catching on Tuesday. They have done a very good job taking the load for the team. I am afraid our bats are going to have to be going tonight.
  10. What about Creekwood and Mont. Central?
  11. So what happens with all the rain this week? Is there anybody that can possibly play ball until late in the week?
  12. It is going to be tough on Camden. Right now we are relying on Riley and Douglas to be the big game pitchers. One pitches one night while the other catches and then they reverse the next night. If Camden and Harpeth both win out who gets second? I'm pretty sure that Harpeth has given up less runs. Is that the tie breaker since they split the head to head?
  13. If it makes you feel better Camden's diamond club has paid for everything done to the field the last couple of years and it is at the city park. Couldn't get any money for a concession stand and it was finally condemned at the start of the season so they had to pay for repairs. We are grateful when the field is mowed. Camden beats waverly 1-0 tonight. Douglas and Purcell both went the whole way. Camden managed to squeak a run across in the bottom of the sixth.
  14. Camden gets the win against Waverly last night 12-10. Camden had a 10-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth and with walks and errors let the Tigers back in the game. Play at Camden today and Purcell will be on the mound for Waverly. I think Douglas will start for Camden, but I don't know how much oomph he will have. He caught six innings last night and then came in to close out the seventh.
  15. We saw how we matched up tonight against Creekwood. Creekwood was fundamentally sound and we were fundamentally horrible. The pitching and defense forgot to show up. 11 walks and 7 of them were on 4 pitches. Fielding errors and mental errors all around. Three runners picked off bases. The only bright spots we had were solo homeruns by the 3, 4, and 5 hitters. Final score Creekwood 13 Camden 3. Hopefully tomorrow we will play a more solid game and see what happens.
  16. Camden is 7-1 and 2-0 district. The bats are hot right now. Last week they scored 45 runs in three games and this week they have scored 21 in two games. However, we haven't seen a lot of real quality pitching with the test being when we play Creekwood Monday and Tuesday.
  17. Camden beat Cheatham 16-6 tonight. This was our first trip to them so didn't know what to expect. Lots of balls found holes in the beginning of the game for both sides. First five batters scored for us in the top of the first and I think we had some players that thought the game was over. Cheatham did a good job putting the ball in play and managed to get 3 back. 5-3 Camden at the end of the first. No score in the second and then our #7 batter hit a grand slam in the third and Cheatham wasn't able to recover.
  18. Camden is going to be young with probably only two seniors on the team. Lots of arms that can throw strikes but have not had anybody step up to be dominant. Bright side is they have four or five juniors that have been playing a lot of games over the last two years. Three of them have started almost every game their freshman and soph years. If they can swing the bats they might surprise some people. This is Rick Sturdivant's second year as head coach after Matt stepped down. They played some very competitive ball at the end of the season last year. Beat Lexington during the season and in the tournament.
  19. Camden is still young but expects to compete more this year. What about South Side?
  20. Oops. Cannot turn 17 before May 1st, not 31st.
  21. Team play will begin Memorial day weekend and will play as many tournaments as possible. Most practices will probably be in the Huntingdon, Camden area and will start practicing when players become available from high school teams. Looking for 16u players (cannot turn 17 before May 31st). Email martyd_24@yahoo.com if interested in trying out.
  22. Only the first two rounds go by seeding. After that the home team is determined by the bracket. The winner of Huntingdon and JCS host the next game. The winner of that will host the winner out of the Lewis Co. side of the bracket.
  23. Second place all alone? Didn't you actually end up forth and a wildcard?
  24. He also said in that post that Waverly couldn't compare to Milan, Westview, etc. Waverly is a much better team than Westview this year. I don't know how the region will end up until after tonights games, but Waverly was the clear #2 in our region this year as far as how they played us.
  25. We will have to agree to disagree on that one.
