  1. It’s always a challenge for the Eagles to win at Red Bank especially when the Lions are loaded. The Lions speed is certainly a concern. GO EAGLES!!
  2. Thanks guys. Makes sense now because I’ve heard nothing but good things about Coach Brown and was surprised to see he was ejected from the game. This ruling definitely needs to be appealed to the TSSAA for review. They probably won’t take action against the officials but may reinstate Coach Brown before the game. Good luck.
  3. This team continues to improve week to week. I thought they would win this game but thought it would be a dogfight. While there is always room for improvement this was an impressive performance by the Eagles. I realize Ooltewah isn’t the same team they were a few years ago but they have played some good teams and I expected this to be a close game. I don’t know what’s more impressive: the way the offense controls the ball and avoids the big costly mistakes or the way this young defense has came along this season. The defense will certainly get tested this week down at Red Bank. This should be a great game as the Lions and Eagles have a little history and both come in undefeated. Great job last night and GO EAGLES!!!
  4. Why was Coach Brown ejected from the Sweetwater game?
  5. Well PA, you already know that’s not likely gonna be the Eagles game plan.... So how good is the Owl run defense?
  6. It’s about time for my ole buddy Passive Aggressive to show up..
  7. Looks like Rhea is the underdog this week.... https://www.knoxnews.com/story/sports/high-school/2019/09/25/tennessee-high-school-football-schedule-tssaa-knoxville-week-6-preview/2418267001/
  8. 2 similar teams who both like to tote the rock. This should be your basic “control the LOS, play solid special teams and take care of the football and you win” type game. I don’t know much about Gibbs except they like to run and they have been tough on opposing QBs this season knocking 3 out in 5 games. On the other hand Rhea has controlled the LOS, played decent special teams, took good care of the ball and overall has played pretty well in their first 4 games this year. The schedule gets more difficult starting this week but this group seems to be coachable and improving week to week. Gibbs may be the most physical team the Eagles have seen thus far but I like Rhea to win this one... but it could be a close game. GO GOLDEN EAGLES!
  9. It’s obvious that WV has improved from last year and this is the first road game but the Eagles have continued to improve over the last few weeks and should be able to take Walker Valley.
  10. You know Coach Pemberton likes those screens so yeah I would expect to see some of those at some point.
  11. Haven’t seen them on here in quite a while...
  12. Agreed. Rhea does have a long way to go and a lot of work to do before the playoffs. There isn’t a lot of team speed but the passing should improve as the year goes on and the defense played plenty well enough to win this game. Like I said earlier the Eagles have improved steadily through their scrimmages and into this first game and I see no reason to think that won’t continue. Rhea came out motivated and aggressive and took care of business Friday night. Carter is in Region 2-5A (not 4A) and will get better too, Meadows has had some good teams over the years and he will get the Hornets going. Good luck to Carter the rest of the year. One week at a time and one game at a time.
  13. It’s really hard to say, It was the first scrimmage and of course both teams were likely experimenting with players here and there but Anderson Co seemed to be more deliberate and in sync especially on offense. On defense, Anderson also looked good - particularly at LB. AC looks like they are set to have another great season and could take Greenville this year. Rhea had some coaching changes in the offseason and has some 1st year starters in some critical positions this season. They have improved with each scrimmage and should improve through out the season.
  14. Does anyone know how Carter is looking this season? Has Meadows got the Hornets gong in the right direction yet? I saw where they scrimmaged Morristown East but haven’t heard anything else about them.
  15. That is correct. Anderson Co looked really good against Rhea.
  16. PASSIVE!! My old pal, How’s it looking over in Hooterville? Glad we get pick this thing back up..
  17. Yeah, I kinda thought the same thing. Not saying it’s impossible but it would be one heck of a coaching job by Akins to make that big a turnaround in one season. WV was very competitive a couple years back but they had some very special athletes on those teams and I just didn’t see that kind of athlete on the field for the mustangs last season. So unless they’ve picked up a couple of transfers from Bradley or Cleveland or somewhere else they will have their work cut out for them. Akins was a great hire for WV but it could take time.
  18. The schedule is kind of a step back from the 6A heavy schedule the Eagles have played the last couple of years. This schedule will be better for a young team. I wouldn’t call it a “cup cake” schedule but it’s better suited for the talent level the Eagles have fielded the last couple of years. Good to see old rivals Ooltewah back on the schedule as well Red Bank (3A now but still RedBank) but hate that we don’t play Bradley, Cleveland or McMinn. Marion should be better this year and Carter and Gibbs are Knoxville teams (Region 2 I think) which always seem to be a task for the Eagles. Carter hasn’t had a lot of success the last few years but has hired Coach Scott Meadows who has a history of improving teams quickly. Tuscola out of North Carolina has a winning tradition and could be tough. Glad to see Catholic out of the region and playing where they belong,. I don’t know what to expect from Walker Valley or Lenior City but Soddy keeps getting better each year under Coach Justin Barnes. In my opinion he has done more with less than anyone in the region since he arrived at Soddy.
  19. Good luck to Dem Owls and my ole pal Passive this week!
  20. I remember him being sick and coming back, I hope he is well where ever he's at.
