  1. It’s really hard to say, It was the first scrimmage and of course both teams were likely experimenting with players here and there but Anderson Co seemed to be more deliberate and in sync especially on offense. On defense, Anderson also looked good - particularly at LB. AC looks like they are set to have another great season and could take Greenville this year. Rhea had some coaching changes in the offseason and has some 1st year starters in some critical positions this season. They have improved with each scrimmage and should improve through out the season.
  2. Does anyone know how Carter is looking this season? Has Meadows got the Hornets gong in the right direction yet? I saw where they scrimmaged Morristown East but haven’t heard anything else about them.
  3. That is correct. Anderson Co looked really good against Rhea.
  4. PASSIVE!! My old pal, How’s it looking over in Hooterville? Glad we get pick this thing back up..
  5. Yeah, I kinda thought the same thing. Not saying it’s impossible but it would be one heck of a coaching job by Akins to make that big a turnaround in one season. WV was very competitive a couple years back but they had some very special athletes on those teams and I just didn’t see that kind of athlete on the field for the mustangs last season. So unless they’ve picked up a couple of transfers from Bradley or Cleveland or somewhere else they will have their work cut out for them. Akins was a great hire for WV but it could take time.
  6. The schedule is kind of a step back from the 6A heavy schedule the Eagles have played the last couple of years. This schedule will be better for a young team. I wouldn’t call it a “cup cake” schedule but it’s better suited for the talent level the Eagles have fielded the last couple of years. Good to see old rivals Ooltewah back on the schedule as well Red Bank (3A now but still RedBank) but hate that we don’t play Bradley, Cleveland or McMinn. Marion should be better this year and Carter and Gibbs are Knoxville teams (Region 2 I think) which always seem to be a task for the Eagles. Carter hasn’t had a lot of success the last few years but has hired Coach Scott Meadows who has a history of improving teams quickly. Tuscola out of North Carolina has a winning tradition and could be tough. Glad to see Catholic out of the region and playing where they belong,. I don’t know what to expect from Walker Valley or Lenior City but Soddy keeps getting better each year under Coach Justin Barnes. In my opinion he has done more with less than anyone in the region since he arrived at Soddy.
  7. Good luck to Dem Owls and my ole pal Passive this week!
  8. I remember him being sick and coming back, I hope he is well where ever he's at.
  9. Hey Willie, sorry to hear your retiring from the T but just want you to know I always enjoyed your posts and that you are a true Wildcat fan and supporter. A lot of folks stop following their home team when they move away but you cheer on the Cats all the way from Hixon. They looked great against my Eagles Friday night and they will give Soddy fits this week. Good luck and prayers to you and your family and RWR!
  10. Oak ridge wins because they have lethal speed all over the field and a really solid defense.
  11. Congrats to Oak Ridge on a lights out performance. Looks like you Wildcats may be peaking at the right time. I really like your chances to win it all this year. With the team speed you guys have I don't see Soddy Daisy giving you any problems. Coach Barnes is a good coach but speed kills and y'all got plenty of it. I know y'all lost to Fulton earlier but it's hard to imagine them or Catholic beating the team y'all put on the field Friday night. Good luck Wildcats RWR!
  12. Spot on evaluation RheaCo ....As bad as turnovers and penalties have plagued this team it's their second half play that has killed them all year. Big leads against Bradley and Soddy vanished in the second halves of both those games. It's gonna take 4 quarters of solid play to have a shot against the wildcats. GO EAGLES!!!
  13. Yeah... I would have to agree with that assessment of your team. Your "studs" may be hurt but y'all got plenty of stallions. If the report I got is accurate then you guys started 5 freshmen on offense tonight - both receivers, center, quarterback and running back - WOW!! and they got better as the game went on. Very impressive group. Eagles on the other hand not so impressive. Better get it together before the Soddy game.
  14. Then why bother to comment??? I generaly enjoy your posts but show some class bro... Next please....
  15. The only thing worse than a Cleveland fan crying about the refs is a whiny Bradley fan.
  16. Incompetent officiating. This shot pretty much sums up how that game went. It was like this the whole night.....
  17. If Rhea uses Hamilton Co. it's a recent thing because they used the Athens officials for years. And folks please don't confuse "homecooking" with incompetence, which is what I saw at McMinn year before last. Those were without a doubt the worst officials I have ever seen. There were horrible calls against both sides which lead to all the tension and the game almost got out of hand. Also the first time I seen an officiating crew argue amongs themselves about calls.
  18. Wow, it seems like just yesterday that Tyrus Ward was Brainerd's gifted QB and now if he coaches as well as he played he will have Brainerd looking sharp sooner than later...
  19. We learned it from the Owls! #LOP!
  20. The Bears had a really good team last year and lost a lot of those guys to graduation but they're better than they looked last week. Farragut was a tough opener but I believe the Bears put it all together this week and route the mustangs.
