Jamboree's usually not much of a show, regarding playcalling, etc.
But here's how it went.
David Crockett beat Morristown East 7-0 in the first quarter.
Both teams back and forth early, then East hit a drive, driving down near the Crockett 20. East threw a jump ball down into the endzone....both the WR and DB went for it and got their hands on it. One receiver initially looked like he signaled a TD, but after a conference, it was ruled an INT and touchback.
From there, Crockett drove 80 yards, when Josh Cloyd ran in from 3 yards out with 2:52 to play. East went 3 and out to end the game on their next possesion.
In the 2nd quarter, Cherokee and Jefferson County battled to a scoreless tie.
Cherokee fumbled early, which was recovered by Jefferson County at the Cherokee 42 yard line. Trying to mount a drive, Jefferson County fumbled the ball back with 11:22 remaining, as their QB tried to do his best Clint Stoerner impersonation.
Jefferson County took the game's only real, long drive driving to about the Cherokee 6 yard line, before being stopped on 4th and 3 with 5:21 in the game.
Greeneville took the third quarter against Volunteer with a 7-0 score. Lindholm looked decent for the Falcons, while however, Greeneville ran over Volunteer on the ground.
The fourth quarter saw perhaps the most exciting quarter of the night, when Morristown West took on Cocke Co.
Cocke County got a first down on the opening drive, before punting to West, Who then took the ball 80 yards, in about four minutes, for a Darius Ewing TD run from about 8 yards out. Cocke County then mounted a drive of their own, Getting sizeable gains on the ground and in the air. It looked like Cocke County had a 1st down, but a holding penalty called it back, but that was followed by a big 3rd down conversion, however 2 plays later CC QB Darius Collins threw an interception, however the defender then fumbled, and CC recovered on the 4, where they ran it in on the next play tying it up at 7 with 1:37 left.
Don Woods left his starters in, and Minnich got a 17 yard pass to open the drive, follwed by a 3 yard carry by Ewing, and a 15 yard pass from Minnich to give West the ball the at the CC 40 with time running out. CC was called for offsides, moving the ball to the 35, and with under five seconds to play, West snaps the ball, gives to Ewing, who rambled 35 yards for the winning score, at 13-7.
