  1. YEAH RIGHT!!!! I'VE HEARD THAT #5 IS A YOUNG VERSION OF PAC MAN JONES W/ PROBABLY JUST AS MUCH ATHLETIC ABILITY AND A WHOLE LOT LESS MONEY! WE WILL SEE HOW MUCH OF THE "STUDY HALL ENVIRONMENT" HE WILL SEE THIS YEAR.
  2. First of all, I don't remember saying "won". I said Smyrna got "DRILLED" by Maplewood this summer. Secondly, everyone knows Smyrna "WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP". Was starting your post with that statement your way of taking the focus off of the ORIGINAL ISSUE? DID THEY OR DID THEY NOT get DRILLED in the scrimmage?. Scrimmages are just games used to measure where your teams are and just admit it Smyrna was no where close to Maplewood at that time. Its obvious that Smyrna must have gotten better as the year went on. Just look at the 1st Riverdale game? No, Maplewood didn't get a scrimmage trophy. No, you didn't see them in Murfreesboro either. ( Unless they paid to get in! ) But they did leave Smyrna last summer knowing they had just DRILLED a team that was picked to win it all AT THAT TIME!! CONGRATS TO SMYRNA!
  3. Smyrna doesn't have to go all the way to Maryville to play a tough 4-A team. The 4-A state runner - up, Hillsboro, is right down the road. Smyrna knows how tough 4-A is. I heard that they got drilled this summer by 4-A Maplewood?
  4. Mr.Irecnso, before you start talking about someone's spelling or grammar, please check yours first. (1) " STATE'S hit list for closing." (ownership) NOT " STATES hit list for closing."..... I learned this at a Public School that's also on the STATE'S hit list....Why don't you just relax and enjoy this wonderful site and this great debate on what should be the "Game of the Year Part I". Nobody's perfect......Except HillsbURRo and MaplewOULd!!!
  5. Last year there was some heated discussion between Coach B. of McGavock and one of the Maplewood assistants after the game. Heard it was regarding McGavock's decision to go go for 2 instead of kicking the xtra point after a late touchdown? I wonder if there will be more fireworks this year?
  6. I totally agree! I followed Maplewood last year and the drastic improvement of their passing game is like night and day. Coach Thompson's addition of former Maplewood & T.S.U standout, Avion Black has the Panthers more balanced. Responsible for QB's and WR's, Coach Black is a student of the game and has brought his experiences from his days w/ the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills back to EAST NASHVILLE. Coach Black's tireless work ethic has been infectious and is one of the main reasons senior WR Jonathan Moore #24 will be one of the most sought after receivers in the mid state area this season. Junior QB Chris Simpson already has almost as many completions and passing yards thru 3 games as former Panther QB Courtney Grimes had all season last year ( 10 games plus 2 playoff games). So again I totally agree with you. Cass might have learned more than MOST high school QB's......JUST NOT MORE THAN MAPLEWOOD'S!!!!
  7. Romario Cathey, Markus Cantrell, and Sam Hopper are the BIG 3 from a very talented sophmore class at Maplewood High School in Nashville, Tn. 2005 FRESHMAN CITY CHAMPIONS!! ( 8-0 )
  8. It is District 12AAA's turn to host the championship. If Maplewood wins Monday vs Father Ryan, they would play the winner of Glencliff/Ensworth winner on Wednesday @ Maplewood. Maplewood has already hosted and won the Freshman Football Championship (8-0 perfect season ) and could now possibly win it all in basketball. THE FUTURE SURE LOOKS BRIGHT FOR "THA WOOD"
  9. Nashville Maplewood has one of the best groups of freshmen I've seen. At least 30 were at practice with the varsity all summer except during the dead period. If they stay together and hit the books, they should have at least 5 - 6 division 1 players as well as several small school signees by senior year
  10. 825721250[/snapback] [/quote I agree. I've seen Maplewood twice in scrimmages and once in the jamboree this summer and they have some very good looking freshmen. They have a 9th grade QB that stands about 6'3 and several linemen and other skill position players that are big for 9th graders ( AND I'M NOT TALKING FAT BOYS EITHER ). If the Cantrell kid is the same kid that ran the ball vs Antioch in the jamboree ( #2 ), then he IS gonna be something special. I heard they've had all of them at practice all summer. If they can keep this group together they will definitely turn around that team
  11. Does anyone know how the Antioch vs Maplewood game turned out?
  12. Sophmore Patrick Johnson from Maplewood High Nashville has to be one of the toughest players in the state to stop (TRY TO STOP). Just ask coach Jeff Porter of state semifinalist White House ( 306 yds. ). He's probably not the fastest back but what he lacks in speed he definitely makes up for in sheer POWER. He also has great vision and quick feet. This kid ran for over 1,300 yards in 9 games( suspended last game of season vs Whites Creek ) in his first year at tailback and this was behind an offensive line that started 2 sophmores and 2 juniors who were also playing their first year of varsity football. Patrick totalled most of his yardage vs the toughest teams. ( over 700 yards vs 2004 playoff teams: Hunters Lane, Clarksville N.E., McGavock, Stratford, Hillwood, and White House ). I also feel Graig Cooper from Memphis Melrose, Preston Brown of Nashville Antioch, and Antonio Lewis of Nashville Hillwood are all very hard to handle.
  13. I was at the Page vs Maplewood scrimmage this week and Maplewood has an awesome 1 - 2 punch at tailback! ( # 1 & # 22 ) Someone told me they were both sophmores.
