  1. I hope to see Bearden pick up the win this year. My brother(not biologically but closer to me than almost all my family members) is coaching there now and he loves the direction the program is taking. I thnk Bearden may return to glory this year.
  2. The Cougars have several talented backs that could step up. Having a veteran QB is a big plus. I still say the Cogars win this one.
  3. Oh I don't really want to jump the gun but I have high hopes. I coached alot of these players and have to say they are some of the most talened players I have ever coached.
  4. Thanks for the kind words Wingman. I am hoping the COugars put together several wins and rival the team from two years ago.
  5. He will be a good test for the Cougar D. I am anxious to see how they do against a power runner.
  6. I think the offense will come along as the season progresses. Shouse is doing a good job with the D so far.
  7. Neither team has a long standing winning tradition in football. I know nothing about heritage this year other than the fact they beat Seymore last night. Any Heritage fans out there want to enlighten us on your team?
  8. Why isn't this on the board that covers the smaller schools?
  9. I guess I might as well start this thread. The Cougars head into this game coming off a win over Lenior City. Can they maintain momentum against Heritage? I look for the Cougars to pull this one out by at least a touchdown.
  10. I have to offer a heartfelt round of congratulations to the COugars. Hopefully this is one of many great wins this year. I know how talented this team is as I have coached them, coached against them, and covered them since their middle school days. Hopefully next week heritage will fall as the COugars begin a new winning streak. I talked to a buddy of mine that coaches at Bearden last night and he said Cumberland County didn't have much. Good luck to LC in the rest of the season.
  11. Start up costs on a paper is around $22K to get it going and viable for 3 months. A staff of at least 6 people, half of them in layout and design is a must. Also there has to be one ad sales person.
  12. If I had the money to do it the Times or an all sports paper would already be here. The start up costs are the big hold up. I'd gladly bring back Sports Chat if I had a few sponsors.
  13. I always thought the post Jimmy Gaylor revolving door of coaches was Clinton's downfall. Good middle school teams don't alwyas translate in to good high school teams but it sure doesn't hurt to have a strong feeder system.
  14. That's odd because I know most of the football players here and even cioached quite a few of them and can't say I know of any that use hard drugs and quite frankly I'm pretty big on the local party scene and would have heard anbout any of them being druggies.
  15. Judging by their last several middle school teams I think CLinton can go along way the next few years.
  16. Keep your eys on the Wells twins, Troy Arnold, Brance Stiner, Corey Minton, Kevin Felmming, The Youngs, and Corey Chapman.
  17. Keep your eyes on Kevin Flemming. He is a great back and defensive player.
  18. I do think Bearden will be much improved this season. I think Campbell ounty has potential to win several games if they reinvent themselves this year. D-B wins the region though.
  19. I don't know much about Mt. Juliet but I'm pulling for Powell on this on. Brittmey Bartey os the granddaughter of one of my neighbors and Erin Ogan is a great ball player. I'd love to see them go all the way for their coach who lost his wife.
  20. I'm sure the Lady Wildcats will have their normal great season. Coach Pruden is an outstanding coach. I'm looking forward to the rematch.
  21. The Cougars did a good job last night as they played a close game with the Oak Ridge Wilcats. If they can play with them they can play with anybody.
  22. I've been saying in the preseason that this Lady Cougar team had lots of potential. The fact that they were able to beat Oak Ridge at Oak Ridge was a mild surprise even for me. I'm proud of these girls and can't wait to see how this season plays out.
  23. You are right I was giving Jamie credit for one of her three pointers.
  24. Jessica Byrge had a game at Meigs County that surely turned some heads. Byrge was leading scorer in the game with 32 points and 4 treys. Keep your eyes on this junior she will be turning heads for the next couple of years.
