Morristown East's Josh Russell was hosed out of the Class 4A State Player of the Week award by the AP.
His stats: 32 carries, 332 yards (school record), 4 TDs (3, 7, 80, 92 yards)
Even if he didn't win, Qb Dustin Coffey at Cherokee had better stats than the kid that won it - five TD passes, 1 rushing TD, over 300 yards passing.
Two weeks ago, Jefferson County's Chris Shiverdecker (285 yards rushing, five TDs) was bypassed by a midstate player whose numbers were nowhere near as good.
I guess since the AP is based out of Middle Tennessee, the award should be re-named the Midstate Player of the Week by AP.
